I was so into this movie I forgot to talk. I was so invested and blown away by the filmmaking also confused at times tbh! I feel like I match the movie sometimes...I don't wanna let you guys down but I feel like my facial expressions say a lot about this movie. I had so much inner turmoil just like I felt Kate did.

Thanks for being here as always! Love you guys!

They filmed these (sicario 2 as well) all over Albuquerque and I used to see several cast members at the Gym next to my office working out. In my opinion Denis Villanueve is one of the most exciting directors working today and could go down as one of the greats! This is Benicio's best work I think...

Blunty simply is the best ❤️ Does anyone see a Puerto Rican Brad Pitt in Del Toro 🤣🤣 - my friend during the Last Jedi shouted in the cinema - “oh crap Brad Pitts in Star Wars”🤣🤣 it was Del Toro 🤦🏽

Sometimes, no words are fine. Your expressions speak for themselves. I watched this and it was so intense. Sorry for not saying anything original.

You might enjoy two other movies written by Taylor Sheridan, "Wind River" and "Hell or High Water."

This movie presents one of the more compelling arguments for simply legalizing, regulating and treating the drug problem as a strategy... just take the profit out of it for the cartels... the other solution is to go the route they did in this movie and become just as evil and nasty as the cartels themselves.

So... regarding why they needed her. There is a law passed in 1878 in the US called the "Posse Comitatus Act." It prohibits any form of federal military institutions such as the CIA, Army, Navy, etc. enforcing regular civilian law without specific authorization and representation from civilian authorities. It was a direct result of the use of US troops that continued to occupy the southern states and commit abuses after the reunion of the country after the US Civil War. The theory in the movie was, that by having her "along for the ride," as it were, there was a "civilian presence" (because she was an FBI agent which is a civilian agency) and therefore their actions were all "legally protected" even though they were all basically military outfits. I hope that helps answer one of your questions.

I just enjoyed the full watch-along version with you, Ames. I had seen Sicario when it was first released and it was interesting to see it again. A couple of things stood out to me this time. Throughout the entire film, Jóhann Jóhannsson's pulsating score gave me a visceral "bad-shit-is-about-to-go-down" feeling deep in my gut. Denis is a master at building the tension and the score was such an effective complement to Villeneuve's direction! No wonder Jóhannsson was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Original Score. I loved the long shots in the film. To me they are such a metaphor for maintaining distance. Distance from the true objectives of the mission. Distance from the questionable methods of the government task force. Distance from the truth. At the start of the film, there is so little information available to us. We (and Kate), are completely in the dark about what is happening. By the end of the film, we find ourselves asking the question, "Do we really want to know the truth about these things?" It's far from certain that we do.
