Happy Birthday Mel! And YES, we WILL have 6 more weeks of Winter...

Bubba Fett

While it might screw with your posts I would LMAO if you posted this again tomorrow. Especially given tomorrow is actually Groundhog Day 🤣

Wonderful film. Divine intervention turns Phil from a narcissist to a saint. When he accepts that 'only God can make a tree' he becomes a servant of his creator and God's love is magnified through him

We love you, Mel! Happy Birthday! Make it memorable. "Chance of departure today, 100%" "Sometimes people just die." "Not today." "I know your face so well, I could have done it with my eyes closed." "No matter what happens tomorrow, or the rest of my life, I'm happy now." "Anything different is good." "Is there anything I can do for you...today?"

Wow, you are pumping these out! Had a great time watching field of dreams with you last night. Now I got groundhog day to look forward to. Bravo, Ames!

I'm 46 years old. Stop calling me a baby. :)

So fun to watch this one with you, Ames! It's an annual tradition for me. While all the repetition can get a bit tedious at times, the film gives us a very small taste of what it must be like for Phil. Murray's timing and sarcastic wit is unmatched. So many memorable comedic moments, like when Phil crams that entire slice of angel food cake in his mouth or repeatedly calls Nancy Taylor, "Rita". Hilarious! But it's surprising, in a way, that the movie gets so dark before it slowly emerges into the light. When Phil says, "I've come to the end of me, Rita", it's really true. Phil's character arc is fascinating, from selfish narcissist to hopelessly resigned to, eventually, caring and compassionate. It's a good reminder. Are we really living if everything is always about ourselves? A great personal pick, Ames!

Agreed. And how frustrating would it be to have a meaningful interaction with someone, only to have them not remember anything about it the next time around? Slow torture. You'd have to change your mindset or you'd go crazy. It was great seeing Phil change from a "glass half empty" guy to a "glass half full" guy.

Favorite Rita moment Phil: I'm just trying to talk like normal people talk, isn't this how they talk? Rita: Close Phil: Ok so talk to me. Lemme buy you a cup of coffee. Rita: .... Phil: And a doughnut. Rita: .... alright Even though Rita is a naturally sunny and optimistic person, I like how GD also shows her cynical and skeptical side. It makes her interactions with Phil feel so real and organic.

Such a delightful film. It’s a great romantic comedy without the contrived sappiness. It’s kind of like a kinder, gentler “Scrooged”. Watching Phil’s evolution is truly wonderful and how he and Rita grow to love one another. I highly recommend watching “Multiplicity” in the future. Harold Ramos returns as director and Bill Murray was reportedly going to return alongside Andie MacDowell, but Murray and Ramos had a falling out and never worked together again.

I once was on a seriously long flight and saw this in the entertainment list, I ended up just watching it over and over again and it made the 15 hours go by much quicker than normal.

I wish they went with the planned theory they originally had for the movie of having him relive the day for 10,000 years. But either way this was a great movie.
