This movie is rated PDG-13 (Parental Guidance for Dogs) - I don't think Jedi is old enough yet!!!

Omg I wish we still use practical effects! Movie still holds up! 🍿🥤

Remember seeing this opening night in the theatre with a group of high school friends. Our GF's were completely disgusted but this film was like celluloid Heroin to a high school boy.. Love how people today growing up with CGI still lose their &*%^ when they see the effects that Carpenters team was able to pull off in 1982. Its not just the effects but the tension that the director creates between the cast that's the real force behind this movie. What I don't get? Is that this movie's ending has set itself up perfectly for a sequel and yet Hollywood seems to have forgotten that! Someone there needs to wake up and draft a screenplay that starts with a rescue team finding the remains and then ANYTHING is possible. One last point... I don't think Kurt Russell ever gets the credit in Hollywood that he deserves. He's really such a reliable leading man. Not only does he carry this film but he happened to give his greatest performance right before this film in USED CARS.

Never understood the initial apathy and poor ratings for this film. I’ll admit I was too young to watch it in the theater in 1982, but the early 80’s were a popular time for horror. I try to put myself in the mindset of your average filmgoer at the time but still don’t get it. This film is gold. I blame Reagan lol

This is actually a remake of The Thing From Another World (1951) which didn't rely on special effects like this version. It is worth checking out for sure.. 👹

Will there be a watch along version?
