■ X:

- Lind Yaccarino meet with French Minister Delegate in charge of Digital Jean-Noël Barrot today to update him on X’s vision and work to protect the service. Per Linda, “France is a key partner for X and we are proud to support the Online Child Protection Lab, working alongside industry peers and civil society groups.”

- Internal documents reveal X's corporate structure. Elon is X Corp's "sole director" and has a special class of shares to ensure he keeps control of decision making. He can hire and fire potential Board of Directors as needed. The docs show X had roughly 1450 employees as of June 2023.

- X’s Handle Team began work on a handle marketplace for the purchase of account names left unused or abandoned. X emailed solicitations to potential buyers requesting a flat fee of $50,000 to initiate a purchases. As an example, the handle ‘acquire’ was priced at $250,000.

- Communities latest updates include sorting Pinned Communities on Home with options like Trending, Most liked, and Most recent. A small version of the Community banner is in the works to make the experience more immersive. This is shipping on iOS first.

- Verified users can now DM the X Premium account for support.

■ xAI:

- Early access to xAI's 2nd product, PromptIDE, has begun. It is an integrated development environment for prompt engineering and interpretability research. It accelerates prompt engineering through an SDK that allows implementing complex prompting techniques and analytics that visualize the network's outputs. It was created to accelerate the development of Grok. They are now making the IDE available to members of the Grok early access program.

- Grok is an AI modeled after the Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. It is intended to answer almost anything and suggest what questions to ask. Grok can answer questions with humor, if you like. It has real-time knowledge of the world via X. It will also answer ‘woke’ questions that are rejected by most other AI systems. It is currently in beta and limited to the US for now. People can register to be a beta tester. Registration link in the sources section.

- Per Co-Founder Greg Yang, “Hands down best chat UI I've ever used.” Co-Founder Toby Pohlen noted, “There are also some easter eggs” followed by an orangutan emoji. Curious yet?

- There will be two versions of Grok. X embedded and a separate standalone. Grok will be a X Premium+ feature.

- Per Elon if Grok will work with Tesla, “Provided our vehicle AI computer is able to run the model, Tesla will probably have the most amount of true usable inference compute on Earth. Even in a robotaxi future, the cars will only be used for ~1/3 of hours/week, leaving 2/3 for distributed inference, like SETI.”

- Per Elon, “xAI compute is doubling every 2 to 3 months.”
