The Dark Knight VII

Now ya’ll see the difference between the two Godzilla versions, in the Monsterverse he’s more friendly, fighting evil monsters and making friends with kids, but in Minus One he ain’t friendly and it’s more of a horror movie where the humans are trying figure out how to kill him. The classic movies were more like this. I don’t know why the Japanese called this Minus One but I’m guessing this is a prequel since it took place in the 40s, their next movie might take place in Modern Day Japan. 🤔🦖

who put a godzilla in my slice of life period war drama 😭 jokes aside, after years of the american style "big monkey vs lizard" movies, this made me realize how godzilla started as a metaphor for nuclear weapons. seems obvious but i never put two and two together lol. love that minus one brought the character back to its roots!

Which version do you prefer? I think we might actually prefer the OG baddie like how he is in this one.

💯 I think the scarier Godzilla is, the more compelling he is

Yea same, old school Godzilla is a terrifying nightmare , although the Monsterverse is still a fun watch. Highly recommended - check out Peter Jackson’s King Kong, 🦍another version of Kong and based on the book. Only difference is Kong’s size, he was originally 50 feet tall, but they made him 100 feet tall in the Monsterverse to be able to fight Godzilla. 🦖

The reason for the "minus one" sub-title is as follows: before WW2, Japan was at it's normal state (1). After Japan surrendered to the Allies following the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, it was knocked down to 0. And when Godzilla appeared and caused massive destruction to Ginza (in the midst of rebuilding Japanese society) the country went to - 1.
