so glad yall were able to watch this blind! excited to check this out off topic, but the way tristan does the starting countdown is so funny😭the "5,4,3,2,1...nnnnnnow" makes it so hard to guess when he's gonna hit play every time. not mad tho, its a fun challenge atp!

I read the book back in 2022 and if I remember correct Rocky had spent 45-50 years alone around Tau Ceti before he met Grace, no wonder he was so excited. Rocky was really impressed Grace could hear light (vision) It's written by Andy Weir who also wrote The Martian. The books & movies are very similiar with the humor/comedy level. As always the books cover a lot more of the science behind the mission just as with The Martian, but it's hard to fit all that into a 2½ hour movie for everyone to understand. Also.. this movie goes from "ohh wtf is that creature to I would die for Rocky" in 15 minutes and I love it.

and if you didn't notice, the mission leader (Eva Stratt) had an prison tattoo in the scene in the end. She spent a lot of time (probably life until the samples returned) in prison for what she did to Grace and other... questionable things around the mission.

I feel like a lot of people flip at the forced drugging thing for Grace but I don't get why it's so shocking. Like, all of humanity, most life on earth, is going to die. 1 person's life just doesn't compare with that. It's perfectly logical. You sacrifice one man to save billions. That's it. Frankly, for as smart as Grace was, he should have been able to get on board with that too. Heck, if someone told me "You die but all of earth lives" there is no hesitation there, just "Done."
