Episode 107 (Patreon)

Hoooooow's it going eeeeeeveryone?! Doing good? Survived the first half of the week! I sure hope so!

CHAPTER 1 IS DONE! FINISHED! COMPLETED! And it only took one year, eight months, and 6-7 days to do it! I know that because I dug up the discord chat where I first talked about doing it!

Right here, in fact!

When Magical Knight Lune XY failed to make it to the finals in the 2022 MAL x Honeyfeed web novel contest I was in a depressive slump. Drawing the webtoon of Kat wound up being a way for me to distract myself from feeling super bummed out and be productive vs lying around feeling like shit. I wound up abandoning that other comic I mentioned in the chat because I felt like I wouldn't have enjoyed making it long term as it would have required me to keep up with current day anime industry shenanigans and shows and junk and ultimately I didn't want to do that.

And here we are! I finished the first chapter! Went wildly different than where the web novel went, but hey! Plenty of people messaged me on twitter saying the hog stuff was too long and unnecessary, but hey! Ya know what? I like the hog stuff!

But I will agree moving to one episode a week really made it feel longer than it actually is. Only bit I think that could THEORETICALLY be trimmed away is when Kat's mom gets in on the fight, but that'd be a shame to get rid of!

Thank you all so, SO very much for joining me on what has been a hell of a journey up till now! And there's still a long way to go! I got 4 more chapters to adapt, now to mention anything new I add! I'm in it for the long haul and I hope you come along for the ride!

Few notes: The date is meant for when it returns on webtoons and shit. It'll return here on Patreon earlier. Also sorry there wasn't a warmup drawing last week as I wound up spending the past two weeks doing this extended episode. All the drawing stuff was done a while ago so there wasn't much of a reason to do a "warmup." And for reasons described below I doubt there will be a warmup tomorrow. BUT, I will open the call for pinup ideas in the next day or so!

In other news:

Had my appointment at the clinic on Saturday which went pretty well. The nurse was different this time around as the previous person who I always saw I think left as they were moving? Forget exactly as they sent a farewell message to all their patients and its been a hot few months. Anywho, new nurse was alright. Not as talkative as the previous nurse which I thought was alright since I'm not much of a talker when face to face anyway. I'll engage in conversation, don't get me wrong, but I typically let whoever I'm seeing be the one to initiate and lead where our conversations go.

One annoying bit was at the end when they set the appointment for my next televisit appointment with the doctor to go over the results before the appointment for when I come in and get my blood drawn. This was an issue because every time I've gone I've went on a Saturday, saying that I prefer coming in on Saturdays so as to not skip out on work. Televists are fine since I can just go into the plate making room for privacy. But when the nurse was setting up my appointment they were trying to have me come in Thursday, which I corrected and said I'd prefer Saturday. They then explained that there might be a chance that the results might not be ready by the televisit. I thought to myself "....Theeeeeen schedule that before the televisit so this isn't an issue? Or change the day I have the televisit?" She left it alone. WELP!

I'm sure it'll be fine as the results typically come in pretty quickly.

Anyway, tomorrow I'm driving to Waco to spend time with family as they rented a AirBNB! They technically went this afternoon but I stayed back since I didn't have enough vacation hours to cover an entire trip. My vacation hours refill a year after employment so they don't come in until end of next month.

Also I don't want to stay in a AirBNB. BUT I'll gladly visit for the day! Afterward I plan to drive home that night! About 2 hour drive there and 2 hour back. It'll be long, but I've done worse with round trips to College Station, which were 3 hours there and 3 hours back. There was an audible sale a month ago that had the first volume of the audio book for Full Metal Panic for $5, so I grabbed it and have been sitting on it. I'll be popping at on for the drive.

It's gonna be fun! Debating whether I should bring the ipad to do a little comic work since I won't be able to partake in much of anything outside in the sun due to laser hair removal appointment on Saturday. Don't want to get sunburned! Figured when they're all swimming I'll be productive. Either that or nap I guess.
