Hello all! As you may have seen, the upcoming Graung's Guide to Golarion: Ancestries of the Darklands is underway! There's a lot of content to look through and the playtest doc is growing by the day. (Available to Gold and Mithral patrons, if you want to join us on the Graung's Guide Discord). As you might expect, there will be a few ancestries and heritages which will have Light Blindness, which is currently only used by NPCs.

When first exposed to bright light, the monster is blinded until the end of its next turn. After this exposure, light doesn't blind the monster again until after it spends 1 hour in darkness. However, as long as the monster is in an area of bright light, it's dazzled.

One would expect a hryngar or caligni PC to have this effect as well. The question is, is that too much of a drawback for player characters? Most have been in favor of keeping this version for players (and I'm generally inclined to agree), but there is an argument to be had that it makes for a less enjoyable experience. This is where you come in: I want to hear your opinions on the matter. While the ultimate solution will likely be to include both (or neither) as optional rules, I want to know which you would prefer personally.Feel free to comment here, and if you're interested in joining the discussion on Discord we'd be happy to have you!

Use both, players have the full version but their is a way to mitigate it to the reduced version with gear. For example in the Belgariad by David Eddings on of the character's is from a race of people living underground in cave their vision has adapted over the generations to low light conditions which cause sun light to be blinding to them, this character wraps their eyes in thin cloth on the surface to allow them to see normally.
