KAGEHINA ARC STARTING SOON LETS VOTE WHOSE POV U WANT!

feeling really emotional reading your comments and hearing about everyone’s life stories and how you guys related to kaien! if only i could hug every single one of u..!!! 🥹🥹💖 it’s hard enough finding our place in this world, even more so when you’re coming from two or more cultures, moved several times or/and are battling with mental health! i hope you know that you are meant to be whoever you want to be, whatever you’d love to be.

I think papayas since a lot of the last part was social issues which is something papayas also struggled with 🧡🖤

Sania Mitchell

I feel like it would be really cute to for kaien to relate to kageyama about how kageyama felt about leaving japan for brazil and how he struggled with it 😭

Bunny

I’d like to see papahina, mostly because he went through something similar when he was in Brasil :’)

mitigates

Agh this is hard...Hinata would have closer experiences but I WANT PAPAYAMA

vi ☁️

I think that hinata is very comforting and a safe place for kaien. but I think in this situation he’d got to kageyama because I think kags would truly understand how lost and confused kaien is. I think that kags could help give his own experiences in high school with how he was expected to be the best while also being insecure and hard on himself. I think kaien knowing he’s not alone will help sm🥹

Random Neko3

i know that papahina would be able to help him a little more since he had a similar experience. But is it bad that I want both of their perspectives? Like maybe a switching perspective where one is helping and the other one comes in to help and the perspective changes

anna

i think yama probably would be a good choice… hinata maybe comes from a very personal place when hearing kaien when kageyama can offer more of the perspective of someone who dealt with someone like his son (his own husband)

Lisa Packard

I think when kaien is wanting to fully talk something out and really be vulnerable he's start with papayama because it's a bit calmer (?) But then papayama brings in papahina to give the love and comfort. Like a team effort?

Soulbladerz

No, listen. It’s BECAUSE Kaien is so similar to Hinata that he might want Kageyama’s opinion instead-!

OKayRami

This was hard. I think he would go to Shoyo first because Sho went to Brazil practically on a whim. With no knowledge of the language at all and knows first hand about being young and in a place you don’t fit into right away. But I think he would also talk to Tobio bc Tobio knows what it feels like to grow apart and not fit in with friends he grew up with but rebuilt those relationships.

Sunny

Man this is such an hard choice to make… 😭 Because in a way Hinata might be able to relate more to Kaien’s struggles and give advices he wished he had at the time he traveled between Brazil and Japan. But I found it very endearing if he reached out to Papayama because he’s the one who noticed the similarities between Kaien and Hinata’s behavior so from an exterior standpoint he might also be able to understand and provide some kind of grounding to him (like he did with Hinata maybe?) Both choices provides different perspectives but they both seem amazing and would help Kaien in the best way possible ☹️

Cami

I really REALLY think Kageyama would be great in this situation BUT let's not forget that Hinata is the reason why they were in Brasil. And how he struggled in his first years there (🥲) so he must know, HE MUST know what Kaien is going on

monica

My heart wants to say Shouyo bc they share so many traits that Shouyo could understand…but I feel like right now what Kaien needs is the calm and bluntness that is Tobio 🥹💖 just, someone that can point out exactly in which direction Kaien could go

Leia

The poll currently sitting around a 50/50 split makes my heart so happy because we all see such value in the contributions that each of them would bring to parenting Kaien 😌

ardent wind

as much as im excited of both sides, im sooo curious of papayama's perspective. i like to imagine him taking his time observing kaien. as boundless as his son's energy can become, i feel like yams would be the first to notice the beginnings of inner conflicts, indecisiveness, the "cracks" forming on kaien's life in brazil. wouldnt be surprised either if he was the one who planted the suggestion of going back to japan so kaien would have a change of pace. (also this is just me hoping to see more chances of yams being a significant, mature anchor for kai 🥺)

Princess

I love how he can go to both 🥹 For this particular situation I feel Papayama is definitely the one he leans on when he feels out of place because he knows how hard his papa struggled in middle and high school. But I know Yama and Hina will talk after to help their baby regardless of which parent he runs to 🖤

yunie

I FEEL SO CONFLICTED RN 😭 a part of me says that it should be Shoyou since they were in Brazil for him, also that he experienced something similar when he left for the first time and was alone in Brazil feeling homesick and such buuuut in the other hand I just feel Tobio has been really perceptive about Kaien’s inner conflict (considering how he noticed Kaien was the one having more trouble adapting to being back in Japan) 😭😭 and of course I would love to see more of papayama caring and protecting his child

Leah S

I could see kaien going to shoyo first and have him comfort him and talk about his experiences in Brazil, but then as he still is struggling to see a clear path, blunt, setter kageyama clears things up for him

Smes

Papayama feels like he’d be able to give advice as not only his father but as a setter who was sure but unsure of himself and as someone who struggled to figure out how to fit into the puzzle of friendship/team

TJ

I think it really would depend on the situation because both his papas are so helpful and supportive 🥲🥲 BUT i think in more serious situations he would go to papayama more just because Kaien and hina think so similarly so he needs that outside perspective. Plus papayama just knows them both so well he knows just right advice to give 🥰🥰

Konichita

While I think Hinata is emotionally start, I think it would help him more talk to Kageyama! I think Kageyama can relate more to feel out of place anywhere you are. It doesn't mean Hinata didn't suffered in Brazil, but I guess when it comes to certain social clues, Kaien is as lost as Kageyama. I think Kageyama has matured enough to have this talk with him, we have to remember that it's been years for them!

Bre

i think yama would understand the "silent struggling" more as he's not as well spoken and would cause him to internally handle things. i think that would make him more approachable to Kaien.

Laney

It's definitely Kageyama. It might be awkward at first but then Yama would give some of the best advice to Kaien.

Rita

As much as papahina would understand Kaiens struggles of trying to fit in to a new culture and always being on a limbo of acceptable, when it comes to feeling alienated from people you thought you knew I think papayama would definitely be the papa to go to 😭😭😭 hope he gives him a good hug for me honestly

Mari Fazekas

I think it would depend on the situation. Yamayama would understand the silent struggling and from a setters pov whereas shou would from an emotional standpoint and im sure he went through something v similar when he first went to Brazil. As when kags moved there too he had shou to help

ROOTING FOR PAPAYAMA OUR GROWN UP EMOTIONALLY IN TUNE LEGEND

Nana

I voted papayama but I don't know... I can imagine Kaien going to ask for help from one or the other >~< ♡

Maybe Anya

this is so hard bcz both shoyo and tobio can give good insights and offer a unique sense of empathy in this situation, but i agree with what a lot of people are saying that tobio would be the best for this particular situation. tobio knows what it's like to feel out of place almost everywhere you go, and he's become quite perceptive in his older years so i think he could give his son some really thought-provoking advice. (i also just wanna see more of tobio and kaien's father-son relationship😶)

Maryssa

I would love to see papahina be in that role bc I feel like he would be good at it BUT I think that papayama would be the best for this situation. I feel like he can listen in the way that Kaien needs🥹

takaaaa

both options are so great😭😭 but I think that while shoyo can really empathize w kaien when it comes to feeling like you don't fit in a different culture, tobio can see it from the perspective that you feel like you don't belong to a place even if that's where you were raised, taking into account all the king of the court stuff. again, either option would be good, they both love kaien sm 🥹

kayla

i initially thought i’d vote papahina, because he definitely could provide good insight, but i think papayama actually works better for this situation because he’s experienced feeling like an “outsider” in many ways, from his middle school experiences and even some high school. plus !! he probably can still relate to kaien’s confusion since he also experienced moving to brazil then back to japan. i also just think it’d be really cute to see papayama in action with kaien bc we’d also see how much kageyama has grown from his life experiences and how he can now share it with his child🙁🫶

Viking

I feel like, even though Hina is more like Kaien in his extrovert-iness, maybe Yama can reach him better? And K knows this, so he goes to Yama mostly. But that was so hard to choose and explain it to myself, though. It would always be depending on what he needs advice for, that he chooses either/or. And while papa Hina isn't as excitable as teen Hina was and has done his bit of maturing, I feel Yama's quiteness is the one K goes for. Idk, in the end it could be either/or.

Nicole

From personal experience of being an emotional person and it translating to higher energy when I was upset about things, if I went to my equally as hyped up parent (my mother) then the situation always felt really overwhelming and her energy would increase my energy in a negative way. So whenever I was struggling I went to my dad because he was always level-headed in situations where I needed someone to help me sort through my feelings and figure out what I needed to do! And I feel like that translates really well to Shoyo’s and Tobio’s different demeanors/outward expression of energy

Rute_Aranwen

As many have mentioned already, I genuinely believe that Kageyama will be the first to pick up on Kaien's struggles and offer reassurance and support; simply because he can relate (and Kaien has more of Tobio's genes in him than appears at first). He'll be there to listen and share how it was for him in the past until he met Shouyou & the Karasuno team. I truly think that whilst Hinata is aware, he'll "trust the process" and just sort of gently expect Kaien to blunder his way through things like Hinata himself did in first year (hs). But whilst Kaien is definitely outgoing, he's also a terribly sensitive and thoughtful person, who internalises his feelings and thoughts more often than not (those Kageyama genes...) 🥺 Papayama has been there, so he understands. On a very visceral level.

fad

at first i think of hinata since he dealt with that struggle of two cultures earlier in life (straight out of hs in brazil is Hard), but i believe kageyama has much more experience with not “fitting in” if that makes sense. i do hc him as autistic (as a lot of people do lol) and i think that feeling of never quite doing/being what other people expect of you was very prevalent in kageyamas adolescence and, most likely, adulthood. he would be able to talk more honestly and freely with kaien about his struggles, because despite kaiens being more about his multiculturalism, it’s still the same thing in the end. papayama SAVEEE MEEEE!!!!! and kaien, SAVE US BOTH!!!!!!!!!

binosaur

Ahh I think either perspective will be amazing and am super excited for this Ready to be sobbing my heart out for this story ♥️♥️😭😭🫶🏽🫶🏽

Honestly, I know what it feels like to move to a new place where people have been friends for a LONG time. I would go to my dad for everything, eventho I’m a girl, & my dad is very much like PapaYama. Very quiet, stoic, & a male RBF. I guess I got that from him too. He would go to his PapaYama. Sometimes being positive is not something you want/need. Sometimes you need that pessimistic, sad, angry times. Then you can go back to being the fun happy person. I think Yama would be that parents that know how to handle the negative emotions.

Trixie Moon

PAPAYAMAAAAA, kaien is v similar to hinata and i dont see how reinforcing his thought patterns in THIS specific scenario is helpful. my dad and i have extremely similar personalities so if i need someone with different thought patterns i go straight to my mom. i think kaien would do the same, in the sense that he goes for the parent who doesn't automatically think like him

Heir of Regulus

I picked Yama, but I could see it being either one depending on the situation. The thing is that Sho makes friends so easily everywhere he goes, so I think he'd have a harder time relating, verses Yama knows deeply how hard communicating/connecting with others is, I mean he didn't understand about high fiving teammates until high school, so I think he can relate more to feeling like an outsider or overthinking how others feel or think because it doesn't come as naturally to him as it does Hina.

Ari22SS

Maybe both?? He can talk to both of them at the same time. I think he is struggling with stuff that had happened to Hinata and Kageyama in different situations. But if I had to pick one, Kageyama would be my choice.

LJ

As others said, my knee-jerk thought was Sho, but I do think that Tobio might get it a bit more. I think Shoyo could also provide perspective as well but I think Tobio might spot it first.

Jess MCR

Papayama bc kaien knows he’s handled papahina

nora

At first I thought that talking with Hinata would be the best for Kaien because in the end, Hinata also went to another country super young and then came back to japan but, then I realised that talking with Tobio would be the better option because Tobio has the perspective of the person that stays in the country while the one he loves travels abroad

Emi

I can imagine Kaien has an easier time talking to Hinata because he’s a very outgoing / bubbly soul (my moms the same way where my dad is shy), but I think Papayama would have better advice on this! Kageyama also had a hard time finding his true place before meeting karasuno and Hinata, so maybe he understands how hard it is to trust the process / new and old people?

mel

i will definitely choose both if there is an option but in the same setting, bc different opinion at different time could end up in more confusion for kaien. if he could talk to both he can definitely make a difference in how he want to react and take action hehehe but in this, i chose papayama, bc his view and perspective is quite perculiar and they have those similarity with each other i guess

MJ

For me it kind of depends what the topic is more focused on? If it’s more about the fact he doesn’t feel he belongs to either culture I think Hinata would give him better insight and reassurance on that. This especially goes for him feeling uncertain about how to act around others and committing social faux pau’s, as Hinata would be better equipped to tell him how to truly just be himself and do what feels right regardless of cultural norms (god knows Hinata’s committed his fair share of faux pau’s. I still have to skip through some parts of the training camp episodes lol)

Payt

i feel like kageyama would be sooo soft and uniquely in tune with his children’s emotions and solutions, but i feel like for the issue of the dual culture, i think hinata would have more insight and be able to empathize

Nalohia

I think Hinata would be his choice for this situation because Hinata lived through it yk? He also went to Brazil and came home, and likely went through the same struggles so he would lean on Hinata’s advice and guidance, with love to Kageyama of course.

Jourdie🩵

I’m going through a similar situation rn, except it’s 2 different friend groups. One group, although they help me get out the house and stuff…they make me the brunt of the joke. I can take jokes, don’t get me wrong. But sometimes it’s too much and too personal. Not only that, I can’t really talk to them emotionally nor mentally. Meanwhile, my other group of friends. My long distance friends, listen and care for me emotionally. They always check up on me.

Dysania

I think Kageyama because while Shoyo is the more emotionally mature and more social by nature, I think Kaien would ask Tobio for help with setting and while they were practicing together Tobio picks up on is trouble with connecting, maybe sharing how he over came his own struggles with connecting with other around him. Makes me think of the first year’s scrimmage when the “I’m here!” And the “as long as I’m here you’re invincible” happened. I think Kageyama’s advice would be to breathe and listen to the others around you. He would tell Kaien that assuming only leads to misunderstandings, so it’s better to be honest. Maybe even tie in that bit you made about his grandpa comforting Tobio as a little kid?… I just love what you’ve made so far!!
