I feel like tsukishima will be a jealous of proximity type of thing, since we can assume he’ll tutors Kaien like his papas did. Same age as well. But I think maybe kaori because she’s probably super close to Kaien since her dad is Hinata’s bestie and sponsor, meaning they know each other since they were little as well. But again, Kaien its so social that nao probably gets jealous regularly

Kouji I feel is the best option since he's most similar to Nao. Also he knows Isao is obsessed with Seina so I don't think he would be jealous of him. And a change of jealousy targets would be nice since Kaien was already jealous of Nao and Isao

That was hard to choose, I went with seina because she is always very physical with kaien but maybe that's too "easy"? The idea of kouji intrigues me so much as much as i loved the tension and mixed feelings between kei and tobio and kei and shoyou and also I find kouji very interesting and "plot wise" (i dont even know if this word exists or makes any sense) so now I want to re vote ah

Rito is socially successful, confident, and is unapologetically affectionate/caring towards his friends (from what I understand). I feel these traits are something that Nao would be very envious of, especially if directed towards Kaien. Isao has nothing for Nao to be jealous of, but Rito? Especially since he was just introduced into the main storyline!

I don't know if Nao could be truly jealous of either of the Oikawas since their families are so close. If anything I think it would be admiration. I tried to think of what his dads tend to be jealous of in fanfiction and it was usually straightforward open people so I picked Rito. Not saying that he's perfect but I could see an introvert like Nao being annoyed by a diplomatic, sociable team captain?

I really just wanna say Kouji because it seems unexpected but also the whole ‘king’ thing that happened with Kageyama and Tsukishima. Like maybe Kaien and Kouji have a similar frenemy relationship and it’d be fun to see more of how Kouji interacts with the rest of the team

I can see it being sawamura rito 100%. Not just bc Kaien respects him (and let's face it who doesn't get a little hot and bothered for the well-adjusted capitain who can solve any problem) but also on a personal level, i think Nao would envy how... normal Rito's life is. No bigshot vball player parents who had to leave a lot for away games. No drama involved in his dads getting together. Rito was born normally, raised normally and lived normally and i think Nao envies the lack of hardship and not being "special"

ROMANTICALLY, isao, seina and kyoki don't make tooooo much sense for me because we already have a bit of lore on their feelings. I think nao already knows them well enough to be secure around them. Unless we wanna mess that up a little ;) But tbh i see these comments and rito makes the most sense. Loving the "secure family attachment" thing we got going on there. Also a bit obsessed with the idea that its Kaori and shes straight vibin being friends with Kaien and soo unaware that anyone would be jealous of her

I read every option and I read some comments to deliver my choice bcs I wasn't very sure about it. If it's in terms near to Kaien I think Nao would be jealous of Rito bcs Rito is confident towards Kaien and they're very close bcs of their parents and their team. Nao definitely would see the dynamic between Kaien and Rito and he surely be jealous. I don't think possible for Nao being jealous of Kouji bcs it is easily to see Kouji is more reluctant (apparently) about Kaien. About the oikawas or Seina I don't think Nao could be jealous bcs they all grown up together and he know them but he don't know Rito he's not familiar with him. Also it could be Kaori but I think Nao maybe is friend with her bcs Kuroo works with his parents too!

I would say Rito because of how confident and secure Rito is in his own skin, and how much everyone around him resonates and responds so positively to that. it’s the opposite of Nao, who feels abandoned and alone and probably blames his own lack of confidence/attractiveness/‘worth’ for that. Also, Rito’s natural warmth (from both Suga and Daichi) would be such an easy match for Kaien’s sunny, positive disposition, so being around those two would be a little exhausting even for a secure person. For an insecure person, it would be like staring into the sun, constantly being confronted with what they “should” be, and being reminded that they aren’t. (obviously that’s not objectively true, Nao is loved and valued by both Kaien and Rito, but his negative thought spiral would prevent him from seeing that.)

Having Nao being jealous or Rito would be cool, maybe seek out his dad's help on how he dealt with atsumu's crush on Kita but also we need more Rito. Feel like I dont see that boi enough especially with his character design lookin so good!

Guys, I read all the comments and honestly there are so many possibilities, haha. But I think the one that fits the story the most would be Rito-san, since Kaien has grown up with him since they were very young. Maybe when they were kids Kaien was a little obsessed with Rito-san, and that could have caused a series of misunderstandings with Nao, because it might have looked like Kaien “liked” Rito. 👀

Rito-san would be good since he appears to be confident, knows how to handle alphas, is a good captain and it's a nice parrel to Tsumu having a crush on his captain and Omi being jealous. Buuuut HEAR ME OUT Kaori Kuroo, we don't know much about them yet but I'm already imagining that they're definitely close to Kaien, probably spend a lot of time playing video games no matter the time difference. They are cool, fashionable probably, very good at modeling and fashion (got Nao & Kaien the modeling job wink wink). It's cannon that Kenma and Kuroo both travel for work so maybe Kaori traveled with them, is not phased at all by Kaien's personality and has no trouble being close to him and that pisses Nao off!!!! My other suggestion is SEINA MY BELOVED, why cause she's my favorite. But similar to Rito-san she's strong, confident, a good captain. Nao having a little bit of a complex is extremely jealous that not only is Isao (his bestie) obsessed with Seina but now Kaien is too. OMG SEINA we get it everyone loves you type of thing. Okay I'm done thank you for coming to my TedTalk.

initially i thought rito bc of how he’s the only one who can understand kaien’s language lol. i recently reread rematch and was reminded how one of the reasons Kaien gives nao for moving back is that he’s trying to find a “freak quick duo” of his own bc of how he sees his parents. honestly this also depends on which position rito and kouji play respectively, but if rito is taking more of a daichi approach when playing, I feel it might be difficult for them to be able to have a freak quick, whereas with kouji, if he plays as middle blocker, could have the potential to do it as well. idk but i feel like nao could become a bit panicked at seeing how close kaien is with his team, like in that one doodle of kaien not hugging nao right away and he becomes bothered by the thought lol

I had another thought of why it might be Rito… Because Rito is the most similar to Kaien, and I think deep down, Nao is also secretly envious of *Kaien*. Often, deep down, we envy the people we have a crush on a little bit, too. But we don’t like to admit that to ourselves, so we project the feeling on to another target. I could easily imagine Nao comparing himself to Kaien and then thinking, “He’s so confident and beautiful and energetic, he must want someone who is just like that (ie Rito), and not me because I’m nothing like that.”
