I’ve been itching to make this one ever since the koi wall hanger went up on MakerWorld. Seeing it finally come to life as a full 3D, dual-sided plate build… worth every minute. The sheer volume on this thing is ridiculous, and the color stacking came out exactly the way I hoped.

Each side clocks in at roughly 16 hours, scaled for a 250mm build plate, and it runs beautifully in 4 colors. I tried humoring myself by slicing it upright just to see if something like the H2C could even pretend to handle it—and yeah, no. days still... Totally unhinged. The two-plate approach is the only sane path here.

I’m glad I followed the instinct on this one. It hits hard.

It’s beautiful, unbelievable. I am going on vacation Friday, I won’t have my printer handy, but I will definitely run this when I get back.

Amazing piece, amazing detail

Karla Evans

Absolutely can't wait to get this done for my son!! He has a Koi tattoo on his forearm!!

Dennis Crawford

not sure if its possible but could the koi be separated from the wave maybe as 2 objects? not sure if you sculpted this as different objects or not. cheers

UnicornGraveyard

They are separate assembly pieces, but I’m not sure how the fish would print on its own

Dennis Crawford

I don't want to print it separately. But I want to play with painting separately.

Karla Evans

How can I share pictures of it completed?

UnicornGraveyard

If you want to keep it somewhat private the chats here on Patreon are limited to members, but if you want to share on TikTok or instagram or Facebook just tag me and I’ll repost it!

I LOVE the kois!! Thank you for doing this one

UnicornGraveyard

Hey Dean! It’s a direct from bambu slicer .3mf file, so not exactly sure where the .object is coming from? Maybe just try changing the extension to .3mf ? Happy to try something else if that doesn’t work

Dean Griffin

Me again (sorry), it loaded in orca but its throwing quite a few error messages as some of the parameters are different for bambu vs creality. No idea if this is quick your end but if possible could you load a version set for a creality K2 plus with 4 colours? If not ill keep messing I think I ended up ignoring them for the grinch print and it came out amazing. Its suggesting over 200 colour changes though if I slice it which I doubt it how it should be if its setup correctly?

UnicornGraveyard

Yeah, there are a lot of swaps on this one, seems like it might be double counting some of them but it should still only be 4 colors. I’m honestly not sure how to get it out of the bambu slicer any different as a .3mf to keep the colors as that’s all I’ve ever used. I can ask in the member chat as I know some there have done it.

Dean Griffin

No worries thanks for coming back to me. If you could ask if anyone has successfully converted these for creality printers via orcaslicer that would be great. I'll have another play with it tomorrow see if I can sort it 👍 Mostly my own fault for going with creality but they're cheaper and now ive got it set up well the printer quality is pretty good! Keep up the great work :-)

Jeffr Taylor

There are 4 different models in the .3mf.. What is the difference in each half?

Jeffr Taylor

OK, just looks like different color combos between the two, correct?

BoXHeAd22

Dude I just got done with plate 4. Looks so sick! Just started the second half, I cant stand the wait. Threw some glow blue in it instead of white. AMAZING EFFECT!
