Hang in there, you've almost got through the first 'prologue-ish' arc. You can skip the recaps if you like, sometimes there were long breaks when the show aired so they put a bunch of recaps in. I always skip flashback and recaps, just be careful not to miss the ones where they add new stuff. Also have you thought about maybe grouping episodes together maybe recording on fewer days? Some of the fights happen over a couple episodes so you could watch them together.
