Welcome to the newest Fizz Hangout! Every Friday, you all can stop by the weekly Fizz Hangout post and ask questions (to us or to your fellow patrons), discuss recent bonus scenes and/or podcasts with each other, and catch up on all the goodies you might've missed!

HANGOUT QUESTION: we love seeing your response to questions about the Like Us series, and it helps facilitate some awesome discussions! Each week, there'll be a new "hangout question" that you can answer in the comments, if you wish!

Weekly Recap

Happy Friday, magical & heroic beauties!! We are BACK! Well...kind of. We're so sorry that last week was a shortened hangout. It's truly been pure chaos. Earlier this week, the split finally happened. Becca has officially moved out and into her new home. We are separated. *cue the emotional tears* It honestly didn't hit us super hard until we hugged each other goodbye (we NEVER hug. Like ever.) so it was such a weird feeling, and then when Becca finally got in her car to leave that's when it really dawned on us both...it's an end of an era. A lot like ending the Like Us series, this is one for the books. We're both excited to start new chapters in our lives, but it's been a balancing act with a book deadline coming up at the end of the month and the Sweetgrass event tomorrow. So we are firing on all cylinders these days!

Patreon is still our happy place, and it was a lot of fun to carve out some time to sit down and chat. So in case you missed the podcast, here's what went down this week:

We have received the paperbacks and hardcovers, but while we're currently in our packing/moving process in our personal lives, it will take a bit of time to get these signed and up in the store. UPDATE: As moving has taken longer than anticipated, we expect NLU won't be in the store until early April. We're so sorry for the delay, and we thank you all for your patience!

Sweetgrass Event: Nobody Like Us won't be on the preorder form, but we will be bringing a handful of copies of the special edition paperback to sell at our table.

I’ve never been to a book event before, but I am interested in attending Apollycon at some point in the future since it’s so close to me! :) I remember when people would attend events like BookCon + BEA and it’s a shame that I never got to go to one of those events before they shut down. It’s a big regret of mine. :( I am crossing my fingers that those events will be revived at some point, and that they will be more inclusive to self published authors in the future, because I would 𝗹𝗼𝘃𝗲 to attend such a large-scale bookish event! It would be such a mind blowing experience! 🤩🤎 Do you have a favorite event that you’ve attended? Either as an author, or as a fan? :)

I’ve only attended book events for a writer I know personally, a family member. And those events were max 60 minutes from home so I was spoiled with that. I would so love to come to a book event for you kbr, but since all these life things happening I can’t fly over the world for it. Something in Western Europe would be great though ;-) but I get it’ll maybe never happen. And that’s okay too 😘 but whenever you’re thinking of one one day… I’ll vote for Amsterdam (!), Brussels, Luxembourg, London, Berlin

I used to attend book events all of the time. As a kid I went to the LA Festival of Books when it was on UCLA’s campus (basically from the year it started in the 90s). One year I waited in line for 2 hours for RL Stine to sign my Goosebumps books. That was epic. I attended a ton of romance book events in the late 2000s/early 2010s. Those events rarely filled up and were all free, even when they had big name authors (like Julia Quinn and Lisa Kleypas, who I met a couple of times). I haven’t gone to a book event in years but would LOVE to! It would be so fun to see how much the romance community has grown. Many of the events look like comic or gamer conventions now with fan socials too. I just need one to happen close enough to me to get to - and for me to find out about it before all of the tickets sell out!

Yes, the tickets to these events always sell out 𝘀𝗼 𝗳𝗮𝘀𝘁! I always get anxious when I’m attempting to purchase in demand tickets because my brain turns to mush when I’m under pressure (😅) and there’s no time for hesitation with these sales. I need to find some sort of book convention update page to follow (if one even exists), so that I can try to stay in the know a little bit better!

I've met two authors who had meet and greets but it wasnt an event it was just them with maybe one special guest I'd LOVE to go to some events though!!! I've never been because the tickets sell out so fast and theyre never close 😭😭

I had a bonus scene thought while reading Sinful in the Like Us book club (this is a spoiler for those who have not read Nobody Like Us): * * * * * * * * A bonus scene (or maybe epilogue moment) explaining why the new townhouses Jane and Moffy move into at the end of NLU are safer than the townhouse at the beginning of the Like Us series. I LOVE that Moffy and Jane move into townhouses right across the street from one another. Townhouses in the city are just so cool & they are my dream home if I ever win the lottery. But the break-in that happened in Sinful Like Us before the fire was just so awful and gross I’m really curious about what convinced Farrow and Thatcher that the new townhouses are safer. My fanfic brain is currently imagining this as a Thatcher & Farrow house hunting part 2 as well (that was such a fun part of Headstrong Like Us!)

Hello ladies a few questions for you, I hope things have been going well for you with the move and your deadline. 1. For the Webs we weave series for book 3 do you have a deadline for that one aswell or do you just want to write it so it can be ready early? 2. For the Circus is Family series do you plan to wait until all 3 books of Webs we weave series is published before releasing a new book for Circus is Family if so does that mean it will be another few years before we receive book 3. 3. Have you decided not to do your normal What to expect for the year podcast yet because your still not sure how your schedule is going to look? 4. In the Cobalt series do the ballet dancers live with each other as roommates in dorms or do they live in apartments or at home if they are native. I know Becket lives in his own apartment with his brothers but he's a principal ballerina so I wanted to know if it's different fir those who arent.

And given your guys’ fabulosity, i assume everyone’s in the community blog post will say likewise 😆. To follow up with some of our recent chatter!… : Re: Masters of the Air ✈️ Oh I didn't mean to dissuade at all! Please give Masters of the Air a try! 🤗If anything, it is worth seeing if you are a practical effects lover and enjoy the bucky and cap trope 🤜🤛. I would love to know you guys’ insights into ur thoughts! 🫂So i’ll def check back in with yall once you have seen/or if you guys are starting to watch it! Heheh. Re: Morning Show: YES! You guys watched S1 so you guys get it! It is very anxiety inducing and really hits home 🤯. Like i said, its worth the watch because of the cultural zeitgeist conversations but sometimes at the end of a hard earned day you just want to kick your feet up and not be anxiety induced on screen even more hahaha. Re: The Challenge & Traitors It is awesome to see the crossovers between the two! 🏆 I really hope in S2 The Traitors they keep using All-Star reality show players in their own lanes and create a melting post for all reality show watchers to come together and game! Do you guys watch the Bachelor? 🤔Or Bachelorette? 🤔Did you guys know Peter? I loved how out of nowhere he was such a good gamer! And subverted everyone’s expectations. Re: Comics /X-Men Animated How are you guys doing with comics? 🤗Have you guys tuned into the X-Men Animated show? Have you been reading any as of late? ☺️ I have been having a bit of existential crisis when it comes to X-Men and Emma Frost and all this nonsense with Tony Stark, I am truly seeking out words of wisdom from you guys 🫂🤯🫨. They are launching the new X-Men soft reboot from Krakoa that should start this summer and it’s kinda hard to get vested back because I realised that a lot of what i fell in love with X-Men (by way of your guys’ reading list!) is not present anymore in the current lore. Emma frost and Cyclops are not a thing anymore from Krakoan (they always like to tease and say "never say never" but 🥵). Jean Grey caps everyone’s potentials 🤯. New Mutants are not really all that important at all 🥹. The messaging and metaphor of adversity and diversity is lost in translation 😫. And a part of me wants to be able to read X-Men not so seriously and take to these characters like i do with the Like Us characters for example! And get hyped for the new era. But how do i put aside my dislike for Jean Grey and wish for my ship (Emma and Cyclops or Julian and Laura Kinney) to gain back hope? Like a lot of the reason why I took a hiatus from X-Men was because it wasn't enjoyable to reading Cyclops without Emma there. And with this new era coming this summer, There’s a lot of emphasis to try and give Cyclops back a backbone and be really well written again (which he has been fallen to the wayside of in the current Krakoan era) but it’s sad because a lot of why i fell in love with him as a character was because of the way Emma Frost saw him. Or how she believed in him. Or how she influenced him. It’s kind of like trying to read Lo go back to a high school crush before Lily and completely retcon all the lore or really, just, all the love and investment we as readers have for what happened after for the sake of nostalgia of Jean Grey for when they watched her in X-Men Evolution or anything else 🤯 It really feels like sometimes Cyclops is being treated like a DC character who is stuck in a Marvel plot. And basically what I mean by that is everyone, including and especially the writers, are kind of processing and accepting Cyclops as this really great character idea rather than as a direct consequence of the plot(s) he’s suffering (or not) the consequences of. Does that make sense? And It is still unconfirmed if Jean Grey is going to be there in the new era. But she is not in his new team. IDK. Emma is leading another team. And there is a line up comic that is in the works titled, "Phoenix" there’s a rumor that it’s not solely about her and more like all the Phoenix users and the Phoenix force as a whole... but again always assume that Jean and Cyclops get preferential treatment that they're still couple... Can you guys convince me to like them or help me elevator pitch me into watching Animated so i can tolerate her? 🤪 It’s also like, all the stuff that happened with Maddie and the cheating on her and leaving the baby for Jean Grey and all this bad blood that never really got addressed makes me go crazy! 🫢 Like, you guys have been reading x-men wayyy longer than i have, do you have any words of wisdom or like, reasons to motivate and help me read on? 🥹❤️‍🔥 Oh and before i forget! To then to top it all off, we have the writer of Iron Man using Emma as a way to cash cow her into fans reading his run, overwriting so much historical beef and cheapening it. Like what would Lo and Lily make of all of this? Would they power through? Could they read their characters written badly? I just would LOVE ur take and just solid advice on all this pavlova. I promise to pay the invoiced comic book therapy bill by next week 🤭😁🤣 Anyway, I hope the move is going all swell, and I hope that the writing cave is going great! We've generally loved most of them, but for different reasons! The ones we've had this year and last year have been super special. Like celebrating Lily's birthday and SKOP's release, and then we adored Sweetgrass, which we just came back from. We always liked LoveNVegas bc the event is just so chill and has a fun atmosphere. As a fan, we really liked RT in Atlanta! We got to meet some of our fav YA authors like Susan Dennard and Jenny Han (as fans!)

We definitely would LOVE to incorporate more of their talking about where they were going to move and why they chose those townhouses in the end. So I totally foresee that happening at some point.

We have a deadline for Book 3 when it's supposed to be turned into our editor at Berkley. About your second question, we're actually not sure yet! It's really hard for us to conceptualize dates when we know a trad publisher can change them on us, so we just have vague ideas of this year and next. And that's exactly right about the podcast! It's a lot harder to talk about what's happening this year since we'll be seeing how much time we have left in the year after we finish writing Book 3 and then go from there. And the Cobalt Empire, you'll learn more about the Beckett's ballet company and all the ins and outs ;) xoxo

I almost forgot, but the two international signings (Manchester and Paris) are forever our favorites! They are just very sentimental to us bc we don't get to see international readers all too much, and even the readers from other countries (even America!) who go out to see us there are amazing. They always make us emotional, and cherry on top is that our family attended both of those and we extended the trips to spend time with them. Everlasting memories!

Hope you're birthday was ah-mazing!!! Yep, we watched Peter's season of the Bachelor. Krista didn't love him on Traitors. I remember not liking him all that much on the Bachelor, and I actually was rooting for all the girls to just dump him 😆 We've both taken a bit of a comic hiatus as we've been on deadline and moving. It's been mad chaos lol! I hate how New Mutants isn't important or involved at all anymore. Makes me so sad. And it's prob impossible for me to convince you to keep going bc I struggle with Laura's character being so incredibly different from who I fell in love with, and their attempt at getting Cyclops right always falls flat too. Jean Grey is INCREDIBLY hard to root for, and even after many attempts, I still just don't like her character in anything -- and 100% definitely NOT with Cyclops. So this is probably not gonna help, but sometimes I think it's best to read reviews and see if a character you do like shows up and maybe just pick something up for them. I started reading them again when they were using more characters from New X-Men and it got me excited. I'm still super bummed that they never write with Hellion. He's such an amazing character, and he's just left to the wayside.
