9-1-1 SUPREMACY 🗣️ Terrified for the season finale tomorrow, but I’m sooo excited. I have a million theories and I just know it’s ending on a cliffhanger 🙈 I finished lone star and it was good but I liked it less than the original bc it didn’t feel as much as an ensemble show as the original. I feel like Owen gets the majority of the storylines. HOWEVER Judd and Grace have my heart, I love them sooo much.

Andrea

Challengers was iconic. It was a messy, angsty, FUN film. The ending is one of my favorite endings ever.

Arrow

I agree about Apples Never Fall! We watched it because it was written by the same author who did Big Little Lies on HBO (which we liked a lot - I thought Reese Witherspoon and Nicole Kidman were just great in that show). But Apples never fall was just not good. It surprised me because I like all of the actors from other projects they’ve done. We got sucked in and were underwhelmed too. It left us feeling depressed! I think you’re right that it just didn’t translate well to TV. Or maybe the problem is that Peacock made it when it would’ve been better if done by the same team that did Big Little Lies? It’s difficult because the author writes characters that have a lot of unlikeable qualities but are somehow also interesting to watch, which I think takes a lot more nuance that HBO usually brings to productions. At least that’s my hot take!

Arrow

I also agree with the Bridgerton assessment. I think the series would have to be a lot longer to give more screen time to the whole Bridgerton family (more like Grey’s Anatomy length). In the series the prominent characters were Violet Bridgerton, Lady Danbury, Penelope (somewhat), and then the MC or FMC would change out with each book as a standalone focusing on one of the other Bridgerton siblings. Queen Charlotte is an addition that I am so happy was written into the show. She is just great!

Arrow

I think the show that is the top of my list for a new season (along with a few others) is XO Kitty if you haven’t seen it. I was surprised by how good it was. I binged it & then immediately watched the whole thing again. I actually liked it more than the “To all The Boys I’ve Loved Before” film series by quite a bit. Ok! I think that’s more than enough comments from me - this is a great podcast, I am in a TV slump right now & needed some new recs.

Ooh Skymed and heartbreak high sound gooooddd

Angelina (Charlies version) ♟️

You guys are SO real for bridgerton its genuinely my fav show ever although I disagree I think season 1 is the worst because the couple isnt all that crazy interesting but season 2 and 3 are competing for first place because they are both just SOOO good and plus season 2's couple was prominent in season 3 they had a whole storyline about being duke and duchess and I feel like season 3 is shaping up to be very ensemble theres a bunch going on in season 3 with allll the characters Also skymed sounds really good!!

Abby (Eliot’s version)

Carina Mackenzie!! That’s who you were thinking about for the show-runner of Roswell NM!! Love her… she has a new show she’s developing and running too! She worked really well with Julie Plec!

Abby (Eliot’s version)

The ending of the CW is a hard pill to swallow cause the classic WB and early CW will always be special to me and defined most of my childhood until my early 30s!! I’ll miss the days of family drama and soapy teen angst that always made me smile and wait week to week to find out what happened next!!

Abby (Eliot’s version)

If you like historical dramas, Shogun was really good and really accurate in its depiction of the time… currently watching Travelers which I love… and up next is Geek Girl which looks like a lot of fun!! I sent some recent song recs to your DMs that make me think of DY… but Elijah Woods, Tyler Shaw, Caleb Hearn, St. Lundi, Tom Grennan, Fly by Midnight, and Tom Walker feel like a few bands/people you’d find interesting to listen to, in my opinion, if you haven’t already! They feel like your vibes and they have songs I connect to your characters!! ❤️💚💙

I love these rec podcasts!! You guys are the reason I started watching 9-1-1 a couple years ago bc you talked about how good Buck and Eddies friendship was on one of the pod eps lol

Krista & Becca Ritchie

I 100% agree about it feeling like the "Owen show" at times. It's the biggest knock on Lone Star imo. He somehow ALWAYS has to be the one to save the day and is skilled at...everything?! I think there has to be something in Rob Lowe's contract to where he gets all the extra screen time bc it doesn't make much sense. I also liked his character more in season 1 when he was a straight up jerk/narcissist at times (+ a shitty dad) and it felt like they acknowledged it. Now he has a savior complex and he can be unbearable. He has had the least amount of growth throughout the series. I'm REALLY hoping this next season, they don't focus so much on him. Judd and Grace are awesome!!! I love them SO MUCH. They always have really good storylines.

Krista & Becca Ritchie

It's the one downside to shows not being like books since you have to have the cast be available to sign on to the project bc there are sooooo many shows I would love to have like 10+ seasons BUT with the stipulation that the whole/main cast sticks around. I feel like Grey's would be epic if they could've retained the main cast, but it's totally understandable why so many of them would leave.

Krista & Becca Ritchie

I really need to finish XO Kitty!! I forgot that I stopped midway through. I enjoyed it a ton, and I also liked it better than To All The Boys (though, that book will always be one of my all-time favs!) ~ B

Krista & Becca Ritchie

This makes me want to watch Bridgerton more and give it a try! Bc I always assumed season 1 was the best and it goes downhill which makes me more apprehensive. I love the idea that it gets better!!

Krista & Becca Ritchie

I'll prob give Geek Girl a try! I'm on the fence about Shogun bc I've heard mixed things, but I might need to just jump in and at least see the first episode. Ooooh going to go check out your song recs!! Thank you for these!!!

Krista & Becca Ritchie

Aww that makes me so happy!! Now I need to get Krista to get back into it lol! Thank you so much for listening to this one!! *hugs tight*

Arrow

Just wanted to say we started Sky Med after this Podcast and LOVE IT!

Anastassia Archibald

hahahah I also started Sky Med after listening to this ep and binged both seasons lmaoo

Defne

I’m currently watching suits and i highly recommend it.🫶🏻

Andrea

Seeing a lot of talk about season 5 of LS being it’s last 👀 if true maybe they’ll focus more on the other characters
