Welcome to the newest Fizz Hangout! Every Friday, you all can stop by the weekly Fizz Hangout post and ask questions (to us or to your fellow patrons), discuss recent bonus scenes and/or podcasts with each other, and catch up on all the goodies you might've missed!

Keeping with the theme of a month of Cobalts: Which Cobalt is your favorite in the family?

Weekly Recap

Happiest Friday, magical & heroic beauties! It's December, which means that we are one step closer to the big announcement about the Cobalt Empire. And it might be happening sooner than you think 😉 If you saw on Instagram, we teased that the announcement will be next week!

But before we can move on to what's happening in the future, we want to give a big thanks to making our 2024 so incredibly special. To recap:

Nobody Like Us released and closed a thirteen book series in January and it was our chunkiest book ever (yes, it's longer than Some Kind of Perfect!).

The new Berkley editions of Long Way Down and Some Kind of Perfect released earlier this year. Thinking about this one actually blows our minds!

Dishonestly Yours came out in July, which was our very first traditionally published adult romance (not included re-prints of the Addicted Series).

We went on tour for the first time with Dishonestly Yours! It was all kinds of epic, and we even went to Mystic Pizza which is heavily referenced throughout the series.

We did a signing with Elle Kennedy (dream goals!) to celebrate her launch of The Dixon Rule.

We finished writing undoubtedly the hardest book we've ever written. We rewrote it THREE times, and scrapped over 100,000 words. Destructively Mine is one we are so incredibly proud of, and we truly fought for the best book.

We met and saw so many lovely readers this year in Atlanta, Charleston, Los Angeles, Dallas, Miami, Phoenixville, and Mystic. Seeing all of you is always a reminder of why we do what we do. We love to write, but it's such a blessing knowing that there are readers who love to read our stories ❤️

We published our first collection of bonus scenes! We're so happy everyone has loved A Very Addicted Christmas and we hope it could bring some holiday cheer to your December.

We started Frog and Quinn on Patreon. It's been such a fun new project for us!

We have some other "stuff" that has been going on behind the scenes, and some of it you'll know about this month. So we're super excited to put a cap on the year with even more good news!

My favorite cobalt is Ben and Tom. I love Ben and feel so bad for him because he’s so kind to everyone but no one gives him the love he deserves back (forgetting his birthday while he remembers everyone’s) and Tom because he has a lot of crushes on his family love interest (farrow, and Leo?) and he’s just so amazing 😆

Charlie! And I’ll tell you why! In Some Kind of Perfect, the scene where Connor picks Charlie up from school literally had me in tears. It’s a part of the series that stuck w me all these years as the foundation of our tortured beloved Charlie. Young Charlie screaming to Connor “why didn’t you tell me?” 😭 so powerful. It leads you into his genius as a young boy and how it affects his actions and decisions as an adult in the Like Us books. ❤️

BENNN!!!! easy, and obvious, answer. ever since connor and rose’s final scenes in SKOP, i have always paid attention to ben. i always paid attention to him and his plotlines that he would have in the background, and prayed for him to have his moment in the spotlight. after 3 years of wishing and gushing about him every chance i get, i am genuinely just so excited to see him get his moment. i remember saying my theories of him getting the first cobalt empire book at a signing, and everyone was shocked by my theory. but i knew in my heart that my man was on his way!!! i have so much love in my heart for this character. 💙💙

It is so hard for me to choose a favorite because I know they will all develop so much more on the Cobalt Empire! I’d probably have to say my favorites right now is Jane, but I also just love Eliot and Tom and cannot wait for their books! And Beckett’s book - that one will be epic! But now I keep thinking of why I also love Charlie & Ben. And Audrey is so unintentionally hilarious. I honestly can’t remember a time when I’ve been so invested in characters at the start of a series that I just can’t pick a favorite.

Also - have you been watching the final season of 9-1-1: Lonestar? The TK and Carlos plot this season is really giving me some major Marrow vibes. I love this show so much I am going to be so sad to see it go. I spent a huge part of this past summer binging it and getting really invested in the characters. I also hope they bring back Grace for a cameo. She was one of my favorite characters.

AGHH YES so so proud of you guys for the most amazing year ever with everything you guys have accomplished!! I think he thinks he's difficult to love or he wants to be and I am unwavering in my love for him no amount of self destruction could make me stop maybe thats says something about me lol that I love him most but thats okay lol. Brings tears of joy to my eyes to see your professional and personal lives flourishing 🥹🥰 the version of DM that ended up with the publisher was show-stopping and so well worth all the hard work that went into making it the best it could be 🌸🖤 and beginning Finn’s story was the perfect way to bridge the gap between LU and CE since that’s when it is in the timeline and selfishly because I love them and am excited to explore another facet of the world!! Picking a favorite Cobalt is like asking me to pick a favorite niece/nephew (I’m without children 😂)… but if I go who I have wanted to know more about since I met him in SKOP, I’d have to say Eliot Alice 🎭💙 I ADORE that man!! But Connor and Charlie will always hold space in my head as well… they’re all fascinating and unique and chaotic in their own ways that will always keep me coming back for more!! My favourite Cobalt used to be Beckett but now is Ben ! I always say that so I’m not going to drone on as usual 😜❤️🤪. How has your December been? It’s been particularly busy for me this time of month! A lot of court cases are happening before the season wraps up, and I find myself never having a moment of privacy. I’m rushing for a train, shower, bus, the office, someone’s always talking to me either my sister, a colleague, a client… it’s quite exhausting really 🥹. And I’ll be working on the 24th as well half day. So that means I’ll fly to Italy the busiest day of the year 😭. I am on probation as it’s the first three months of employment at this new firm so I don’t have a lot of bargaining power I’m afraid :( . Anyway! Back to KBR universe! I have two questions today! Firstly, with new horizons, do you think that you are interested in writing a love interest in the future for a Like Us/Cobalt character (and beyond) that isn’t from wealth? Someone who has a very hard normal 9-5? A desk worker? Someone working at a firm? Or not in “control” of their own schedule? I don’t ask this at all for self insert purposes! 🤪I ask just bc it would be very new interesting reality for the Like Us characters to have to face with loving or romancing someone who doesn’t have complete autonomy of their own life. And in situation, where they can’t interfere bc they have the money, power and chops for it? Would they be in on the office gossip? The boss that’s sleeping with the receptionist (true still in 2024 if you can believe it) or have to attend a cheep office Christmas dinner and then they’re there just sticking out with a sore thumb and playing along for their loved ones? How funny yet interesting would that be! That was a little bit why I loved Alphas like Us bc we saw Moffy having to adapt to a schedule in the hospital that goes well beyond his control and he can’t do anything about it. But what if that stayed that way? It’s interesting…. And my second question, is once you officially write the cobalt empire… will bonus chapters be only for them? Or will you never write Lunalley domestic bonus chapters or Marrow stuff again in the bonus side of stuff? Kinda like how it’s very rare we get a Daisy POV bonus chapter. Ngl the cancelling of people has got me scared for this reality …. :(( Anyhow, got to run off my train now! I’m in Devon today… for a repossession case. Lord have mercy! Hope you all are doing lovingly and your decorations are all wonderfully up! 🎄

Aww we're sending you stress-free vibes for the holidays! And we hope you can get a lot of good reading comics/books in 🩷 I had no idea your fav is Ben now!! December, for us, has been busy with trying to complete a lot of writing (especially Dangerously Ours), but it's been overall a very good December, as we've gotten ahead on things better than some years where we're writing on Christmas Day 😂 This is definitely possible, as far as your LI question goes. But for the CE series, since it begins in a college setting, they're not necessarily at the point/age where it'd be a "workplace" novel. I love that you brought up Alphas! That's one of my favs, and it really showed how much Moffy did have to adapt to a schedule outside of his own life. For Patreon, we aren't strict on what we won't write. Basically there is nothing that's off-limits except POVs we haven't established. There are times that we feel inspired to write Marrow or Lunnelly, and we will 100% write with them. I don't know if you've ever watched Nate & Jeremiah on HGTV or the newest season of Queer Eye, but Jeremiah ALWAYS reminds me of Moffy for some reason. He's just literally so pure of heart, and it makes me want to write Moffy bonuses, so things like this might very well happen at some point. And if we write them for ourselves, we might as well share them with all of you 🩷🩷 The problem with PLU was that it was very strict on the area we had to write in when we wanted to progress storylines. So we'd love to show more of Marrow/Lunnelly and other couples closer to the area we're at rather than backtrack, because it didn't feel *new* enough, in a way.

YES! I have been watching!! I love Lonestar more than the OG series. I'm just bummed that Carlos is making it so hard on TK for wanting to adopt his brother. Like, in what world would TK NOT adopt his baby brother??? So Carlos giving him an ultimatum "me or your brother" is shocking to me. It makes Carlos seem like he doesn't really know the man he married. That being said, I am DEEPLY sad that this is the last season. I'm not ready for it to be over ~ B

Yes! That ultimatum made no sense to Carlos’s character. The romance reader in me wanted that to be written differently. Although, I have been low key hoping for a TK/Carlos baby brother adoption forever. I’m so thrilled it’s happening that I’ve let anger over the Carlos ultimatum slide a bit. I’m hoping they do some work cleaning it up over the final few episodes.
