Welcome to the newest Fizz Hangout! Every Friday, you all can stop by the weekly Fizz Hangout post and ask questions (to us or to your fellow patrons), discuss recent bonus scenes and/or podcasts with each other, and catch up on all the goodies you might've missed!

HANGOUT QUESTION: we love seeing your response to questions about the Addictedverse, and it helps facilitate some awesome discussions! Each week, there'll be a new "hangout question" that you can answer in the comments, if you wish!

Destructively Mine is out and about in the world! If you've started the Webs We Weave series, who is your favorite character so far?

 Weekly Recap

Happy Friday, magical & heroic beauties! It's honestly so freaking SURREAL that Destructively Mine is now in so many of your hands. We've been blown away by the outpouring of love for this one. We've often talked about how it was one of the toughest books to write, and in the end it also became one of our top favorites. But we had zero clue how all of you would like it. So to see so many readers fall head-over-heels for the Tinrocks and Graves makes us so emotional. It kind of feels like the moment when we release Addicted for Now and so many readers started falling in love with the Addicted Series. 🥹

And we're still celebrating the release on tour! We have one final tour stop in Dallas tomorrow, which we are so excited for. Thank you to all who've come out and seen us this week. Whenever we hear that you're on Patreon, it literally feels like a thousand fireworks shooting off at once. It means so, so much to us. We love this little community we've built here and knowing you're a part of it makes our hearts swell 💗

What are we doing to celebrate the release? Weeeeelllll, a movie called Thunderbolts* just released and it's been SO LONG since Becca and I have seen a Marvel movie in theaters together. So we bought tickets and we'll be watching it in Chicago as a little celebration. Nova would be proud 🥰

It's also officially MAY which means there is allll the content left to come for the month. We're most likely going to be focusing solely on Frog and Quinn for a bit. So expect the next couple of chapters in their story this month along with some fun podcasts. A poll will be up soon to vote on the Monthly Podcast. And in case you missed it, here's what went down this week on Patreon:

So far Oliver is my favorite 🦎 I was very entertained by DM! IMO it’s one of your most well-written yet as far as pacing, plot, etc. So I think all the struggle you guys had with it paid off! I can’t wait to read DO. I hope the tour has been wonderful. Congrats on the release! 🩷🌸

Abby (Eliot’s version)

Happy Release Week and a HUGE congrats, ladies!! So excited that the book is out in the world and that the reception has been so positive!! DM is one of my favorites of yours and whatever you went through to get it to its final product was well worth it!! For DM, I really connected to Rocky because it felt like the story marked so much of his journey individually, with his family, and with Phoebe!! I also love Oliver and was excited for Jake to weave his way in!! I can’t WAIT to see what happens in DO 😍

Lauren Gibbs

Happy happy Release Week!!! 😍✨️ My favorite character has to be Rocky! I haven't gotten far into DM yet because life has been crazy, but I loved DY so so so much that I know I'll love this next book even more! ✨️💗 I know it's cheesy and maybe lame, but I feel like this Patreon and this fandom truly are my happy place! 🥹✨️ Wishing everyone the best weekend! ☺️

Shelby Keating

Today I was driving to Minnesota to visit my friend at college and passed through Winona, always makes me think of the Meadows family 🫶

The deluxe edition of Burn Bright is on UK Amazon, is that some kind of accident? I don’t want to preorder and receive something else 💫

Hailey is my favorite with Rocky a close second followed by Trevor. I really ended up liking the Tinrocks a lot after finishing Destructively Mine. I guess I’m a sucker for tragic backstories!

My favorite! I actually haven’t read Web of We Weave yet because I’ve been waiting for it to land on your guys’ signed bookstore before getting it. Ironically, I’m taking this chance to ask what the current policy is because I know you’ve kindly said before that you restock stores and only personally sign the latest release, not previous ones. But I just wanted to double-check if that still applies, even for The Webs We Weave series. Should I try to catch it on Amazon and send it in that way, or is this one of those cases where, regardless of which book is out, you’re not personally signing them anymore and are using the sticker bookplates instead? I’d really love to know because I guess if that’s the case, I’ll just wait until I can make it to a signing. I’ve gotten used to having the personalized ones now, and as spoiled as that sounds, I love the continuity. That said, I’m really loving The Webs We Weave. What do you think is the best season to reread novels? Because I’m a huge rereader and I know you know that about me, and I feel like certain books have specific seasons. I’d love to know your take. My favorite character is definitely Rocky. I really enjoy his aura and personality, and I hope The Webs We Weave continues like Like Us, where we follow new couples but still check in with the originals like Rocky and Phoebe. It’s just so cute and immersive. But I also know that you’re now trying something a bit more traditional with one book per couple, even if it’s long, so I’d love to know what the actual plan is. I know you’re signed on for just two or three books, but I’d love the inside scoop on what you wish the series could become. That way, I can help support it however I can as a fan. But honestly, all your guys are so well written. I don’t say this in online discussions or anything, but I really need to highlight how good you are at writing different kinds of men. It’s so easy to fall into the same archetype, but you don’t. You write men like individuals. And because of that, your gay relationships are phenomenal. That’s why I’m always hoping for more. It’s not even about representation, it’s that you’re so GOOD at writing guy relationships. You capture all the layers, the onion peel of emotion and tension, and the unique forms of intimacy. As a woman, that level of insight feels rare and valuable. It’s something you often don’t see unless you’re directly living in it, and I appreciate it so much. That’s why Maximoff and Farrow worked so well. It was never just about what they represented. It was the way you wrote them. And that’s why I can’t wait for more, whether that’s in The Webs We Weave or maybe even in the future of Like Us. I’d truly love to see more of it. Also, I have to say, Leo might be my most anticipated non-Cobalt character. There’s just so much going on with him. I feel like he’s a modern-day Achilles, a total slow-burn disaster waiting to happen in the best possible way. I truly cannot wait to watch him unravel and rebuild and unfold. So yes, I know I’ve asked a lot of scattered questions here (sorry for the brain dump) but I really am holding off on getting Book Two until I hear from you. You guys have shaped the way I engage with stories, and I just want to follow the right path forward. 🤣

Illyana

Okay, this is shamelessly unrelated to everything else we’ve been discussing, but I’ve been meaning to bring this up for weeks now. Don’t laugh at me, or judge me, but I really need to talk about X-Men and this new fandom spiral I’ve fallen into. And I need to get you all involved, because everything in X-Men land has to be processed with my girls. So. X-Men is… not good right now. And hasn’t been for a while. We all know this, and it’s been a recurring conversation across Reddit, comic threads, and fandom spaces. The main frustrations readers express are: 1. Editorial interference, where writers are being pushed into stories they clearly didn’t intend to write. 2. Character misrepresentation, where core characters feel unrecognisable, flattened, or entirely sidelined. 3. Narrative inconsistency, where long-term cohesion has vanished, and arcs feel abandoned or rewritten arbitrarily. A lot of this is being traced back to editor Tom Brevoort, who has recently taken a more active role in reshaping the X-Men line. And it shows, quite badly. A lot of us are frustrated because there is a clear editorial agenda being imposed, and it comes at the expense of everything we actually love about X-Men: layered storytelling, emotional complexity, identity, chosen family, and meaningful team dynamics. Enter: Power Rangers comics. Now listen. When my comic friends first told me to try Boom! Studios’ Power Rangers comics, I laughed. I was like, “You take me for a fool? I’ve got enough on my plate. I don’t need spandex suits and colour-coded helmets in my life.” But they were insistent. “Laura,” they said, “this is your thing. It’s teen drama. It’s coming-of-age. It’s ensemble storytelling. It’s literally soap opera superhero comics, but with heart.” And they were right. I finally gave it a go, and oh my goodness. It’s so good. Ridiculously good, in fact. The Boom! Comics relaunch, which began in 2018 or 2019, has been both critically and commercially successful, often even outselling X-Men and superman itself. And that’s no small achievement. Here’s why it works so brilliantly: • Character-first storytelling, where the action exists to serve emotional arcs. • LGBTQ+ representation, done with real nuance rather than tokenism. • Freedom from editorial control, which means creators are actually allowed to tell the stories they want to tell. • Stunning art, with names like Dan Mora involved. He’s now drawing Batman/Superman: World’s Finest for DC, and his visuals are breathtaking. • A genuinely rich ensemble, in the spirit of New Mutants or Runaways. Every character has depth, conflict, growth, and personality. And it’s consistent and BUILDING as we speak! • Modern and accessible, with continuity that is followable without needing to study decades of back issues. I haven’t even watched Power Rangers. I came in knowing nothing, beyond the vague anime influence and the existence of helmets. But the comics stand completely on their own. They are not cheesy. They are emotionally intelligent, grounded, and truly good reads. And the leader character? Full Lorne Hale energy. That grounding, heartfelt centre of the group. And Kimberly Hart? There’s one relationship dynamic, specifically, that is so wonderful, so slow burn, the earnestness, the emotional intelligence, it’s all there. If you want to give it a try, start with Go Go Power Rangers, Volume 1. It’s the cleanest entry point. There are multiple series, including Mighty Morphin, but they are easy to follow through trade paperbacks. You can find them on Apple Books, Amazon, or local comic shops. It’s not an overwhelming commitment like catching up on Flash or Daredevil — both of which I adore, but let’s be honest, they’re massive archives. I’m not saying this replaces X-Men. But it does fill that gap X-Men used to occupy that everyone is buzzing about and wanting out of comics rn: character-led, emotionally rich, team-centred storytelling that respects its readers. I honestly think Willow Abbey would absolutely love it. In fact, I think any of the Hales would. And I would be delighted if you gave it a chance too. If anyone wants a full reading order, just let me know and I’ll put one together. But truly, just try Go Go Power Rangers, Volume 1. It is so good. I’m obsessed. AND LET ME KNOWWW 😍
