Happy Cobalt Wednesdays, beauties!! We are here with a little Cobalt-Fisher reveal (do they have a ship name -- are you all settled on Barriet or Benriet?) 🩵 For most of you super-sleuths and super fans, these tropes might not be such a big surprise, but when you receive the entire Chapter One early (likely in August), you'll see a bomb drop of a shocker right away and what sets the stage for the entire book. So there's a little tease for all of you!

Exciting times to come!!! I’m currently doing my reread of Lunalley! First of all, I’m truly so excited for Burn Bright, the anticipation is real, but I had a quick cheeky question for you girls that’s been on my mind for a while now 🫣📚💭 Would it be possible, in the most polite way, to sort of bench a few scene ideas that have been sitting in the bonus scene backlog queue 🧠💡📥? I totally understand the volume you must receive is massive and you’re already juggling so much with the upcoming projects, but I was wondering if there’s still the window open for Like Us bonus scenes even as we head into the Burn Bright timeline 🔥🖤 🥹? Is the Like Us era bonus scene door still cracked open (just a smidge)? Or is it officially being closed shut and sealed with an iron safe vault like the Addicted timeline 🔒😭? Just trying to emotionally prepare myself accordingly 😅 Here are some of the scene ideas I’d love to see one day, no pressure of course, just quietly placing them on a little wishlist shelf 🪷📑: 🌑Nobody Like Us: 🫶 Lunalley – Luna or Donnelly POV of their pottery date (or any date vibes, truly) 👶 Marrow – Moffy POV during the birth of their second baby (the feelings 🥹) 🏈 LiLo – Lo POV before, during, and after the Superbowl streaking scene (iconic behaviour tbh) 🪥 Marrow – Farrow POV of some cute behind-the-scenes domestic moments like Moffy and Farrow on a hike with their family or them having some downtime watching Superman and Lois (low-stakes everyday love 🫶) 🧠 Moffy – POV before and during the attic session with Charlie, when Farrow’s presence is being debated (ugh, the tension) 🧸 Lily or Lo POV of one of their quieter physio sessions, or just downtime together, a soft moment amidst the chaos 🏥 Unlucky Like Us timeline– Lo POV of the first time Lily wakes up in the hospital and sees him again (knife to the heart moment incoming) Just wanted to flag those gently in case there’s ever a possibility to visit them 💕 and of course I completely understand if the new timeline and publishing pace doesn’t allow for it anymore. I just love seeing these little pockets of intimacy, especially from scenes we haven’t gotten yet , they’re so rich and heartfelt and make everything feel so real. Anyway, thank you always for all the love and detail you pour into these books. I’m so excited to see where Burn Bright leads us, but I’ll always have a soft spot for peeking back into the nooks and crannies of Like Us too 🫶 Sending hugs and so much love, Laura 🩵🌊🇬🇧

There is 100% a window for us to still write Like Us series bonuses with past POVs. We both feel inspired at random times to return to different scenes and POVs from past books, so we never want to close that door. I'm copying your list and putting it in our suggestion notes!! I think it's way more likely we return to POVs during ULU/NLU timeline and beyond, so your suggestions are great and totally plausible. I love the idea of writing a super domestic Marrow scene 🥹

I think, especially, maybe it is just me, but in light of the fact that perhaps the Cobalt Empire (and please correct me if I am wrong 😁 as you usually find a way to amaze and surprise us), is shaping up to be a more insular, ink-contained ensemble cast that does not necessarily feature many of the characters who carry that lovely thread of contemporary cultural references, I do wonder about this element moving forward. It is one of the things I feel is such a defining ingredient in KBR novels, that beautiful weaving of current cultural texture, if I can call it that. So, while I completely understand that the tone and style of Cobalt Empire will naturally differ from, say, Like Us, I think that is something I will really miss. And I say this as someone who considers that particular quality to be a key ingredient in your books. I certainly do not expect Charlie, for example, to suddenly be first in line for the new Superman film or debating which Star Wars trilogy is superior. That would feel a bit of a stretch, and I do not think you would do that either. However, I do think there is a natural opportunity to keep that thread alive through the Like Us cast continuing to appear via bonus scenes or crossovers. I would truly love that. Perhaps I am selfishly not ready to let go, and I am absolutely that “I am still here” meme personified. I remain so deeply attached to Marrow and Lunalley, and honestly, I cannot get enough of them, especially Donnelly. I genuinely think Donnelly is one of the best characters you have ever written 🥹. He is such a joy to read, and his layers are so well crafted. Every scene with him is a delight. So, I do hope that as new novels arrive, there will still be space for bonus scenes featuring those characters who naturally bring that classic KBR special ingredient, that humour and cultural sharpness, in ways that perhaps the Cobalt Empire cast will not by design, as they lean more towards that Succession-style world. And of course, this is why Xander’s novel is my most anticipated. Partly because I am so curious about who his love interest will be, and partly because, the more I reread Nobody Like Us, the more I think Easton feels like the obvious choice, and yet I get very strong friend vibes from them as well. So, I do not know what will happen, but I would absolutely love it if there were added layers there, perhaps with Xander being bi, or something equally interesting. Especially as he has never really spoken about romance, nor have we ever seen a proper conversation with Moffy about crushes or relationships. He has been so focused on his mental health, which is completely fair, but it does leave a very tantalising opening for us readers to wonder what will come next for him. All good things, and very exciting questions for the future. But yes, I genuinely do not think I would recover if you ever said, “We are never going to revisit Donnelly’s POV in the Like Us series or in Burn Bright or Cobalt Empire, and you will all simply have to live with it.” 🤯Because in my heart of hearts, I believe they are all still living in the same world, and we need to believe that Donnelly is still out there doing something ridiculous to Farrow, that Luna is writing something wonderful, that Moffy is still Batmanning about, and that Banks is perpetually tripping over cats. And that is the world I want to keep living in.🍿🥰🥰🥰
