Extra: Bedside Table Snooping - Cobalt Empire Edition (Patreon)
Content
We are back to snooping! This time, we're peeking at the bedside tables of the Cobalt family, specifically Rose & Connor's seven children featured in the Cobalt Empire series. If you've ever wondered what might be on their bedside tables, then we have you covered! We are investigating their nightstands whether they want us there or not. Move over, Nancy Drew, we are breaking into the 2166 apartment in Hell's Kitchen and also the Cobalt Estate. (Don't worry, Audrey, we're not leaving you out!)
From oldest to youngest, here we go:
💙 Jane Eleanor Cobalt: Her bedside table is messy. Likely even the messiest of her siblings. Even if Thatcher picks up here and there, there will typically be the odd cat toy on her table, a half-filled Tumbler cup of water. (Tumbler cup is rainbow cheetah print and a gift from Sullivan Meadows.) She also has a day-old coffee mug shaped like cat ears there. She set it down before taking a shower and totally forgot about it. Her charging cable is a little bit tangled, but she rarely forgets to charge her cellphone at night. Occasionally the odd scrunchie will find its way on the floor thanks to Carpenter and Walrus swatting them off the bedside table. She also has a basket she tosses random things in: more hair ties, portable power banks, earrings she forgot to throw in her jewelry tray, lip gloss, chapstick, a travel pack of tissues, and a tiny bottle of perfume she totally forgot she even had.
Type of Table: Scalloped, antique-looking but not an antique. Dark wood to pair well with Thatcher's matching side table. Kind of like this one.
💙 Charlie Keating Cobalt: One of the neater bedsides. His bed is actually framed between bookcases, so he doesn't have a table per se. But he does have little nooks on each side, and he almost always has a book on the surface. Typically it's one in another language. He also has a small reading lamp as well. It's a must for Charlie. You won't find water glasses or coffee mugs. Just a phone charging pad and an expensive tray for his watch and ring. He doesn't like to keep trinkets on that surface in case it gets knocked off when he returns his book there. A very simple set-up for the second-born Cobalt.
Type of Table: Technically it's not a table but the surface of a wooden bookcase. There are cabinet drawers below, and the handles are circular and brass, a little similar to the ones on this end table.
💙 Beckett Joyce Cobalt: The neatest of the bedside tables. He never leaves drinks on his night stand, and if he did, it'd need a coaster. The only thing Beckett keeps on his bedside table is a phone charging dock that also charges his AirPods and a sunrise alarm clock (a gift from his bestie Sullivan Meadows).
Type of Table: He has a mixed wood and metal nightstand. Kind of like this one. The metal leans toward black and not silver.
💙 Eliot Alice Cobalt: One of the messier bedside tables, but only when he stacks his collection of books there. He'll move them to the floor when girls come over. He has a very expensive box on his bedside table. (The box would resemble something like this.) What's in the box, you ask? Condoms. Unused ones, of course. Used condoms, he trashes immediately. He keeps a sandalwood/leather-scented candle on his bedside in a melted bronze hand-cast candle holder, along with a lighter. Sometimes he changes the candle for a really expensive two-tier gothic candelabra shaped like twisting snakes. Especially if he were to have a girl over, the candelabra is coming out to set the mood. (It kind of resembles this one.) He also has a bronze raven skull on his end table (a gift from Tom Cobalt). Eliot uses a charging cord, so he doesn't waste space with a dock or pad.
Type of Table: A thin three-drawer bedside table with silver dangling knobs and black distressed wood to appear gothic. Kind of like this one.
💙 Tom Carraway Cobalt: He's not the messiest, but his bedside table can get cluttered very quickly but he'll clean up frequently. A charging dock, stereo pod, and a lamp are the three consistent items. Other items that can appear there: glasses of water, energy drinks (Lighting Bolt! preferable), headphones, black nail polish, nail polish remover, chapstick, bracelets, hair brush, hand lotion, guitar picks, tissues, jar of peanut butter, bag of pretzels, mints, book (Catcher in the Rye, most likely), lighter, and pocketknife.
Type of Table: Metal locker with punk-rock stickers all over it. Kind of like this silver one.
💙 Ben Pirrip Cobalt: Oh Pippy! He doesn't keep a lot on his bedside. As you've seen in Burn Bright, he came into the Hell's Kitchen apartment with a duffel. For a while, he didn't really have a bedside table, and now that he does, it's very minimal. He keeps a little Boston fern in a ceramic pot on the surface, along with a charging cable, his girlfriend's Latin textbook she accidentally left over there, an old nature journal he found in his things he brought from his childhood bedroom, a simple lamp, and a framed photo of him and his girlfriend (gifted by Audrey Cobalt for Christmas). From time to time, his blue environmental sticker-decaled water bottle -- the one he carries around a ton -- will show up on the bedside table too.
Type of Table: A very basic, modern wooden table. Kind of like this one. He's started putting environmental stickers on it, and Harriet Fisher has added some band ones, too.
💙 Audrey Virginia Cobalt: The youngest rarely keeps her bedside table cluttered. She has her classic Jane Austen books proudly displayed with bunny rabbit bookends she's had since she was very little. She is considering ditching the bunny rabbits, but during each redecorating spree of her room, she has always kept them. She has a porcelain lamp and a marble coaster for her hot nighttime beverage. Usually tea. She charges her phone with a cord and slips her cellphone under her pillow at night, since she stays up late texting her friends. On her other side table, she keeps a framed photo. She's recently replaced the old picture with the one she took with her siblings in the Cobalt library. They were all wearing blue (except for Charlie). You can read that scene at the end of Burn Bright.
Type of Table: Very feminine, white wood, antique bronze knob. Kind of like this one.
Happy Cobalt Wednesday! We hope you enjoyed this peek into the bedside tables of the Cobalt fam on this bright blue Wednesday 💙✨
