Weekly Recap

Coming to you on a beautiful Saturday! For Krista, it's not as beautiful since she's been under the weather. Writing with a head cold comes with its own challenges, so I've been full steam ahead in hopes to cheer her up with extra reading!

Loathed Love is likely one of our most unpredictable books we've ever written, and I am giddy over every minute of it! There is something about the Cobalt Empire series and the pure joy we've shared together writing these sibling bonds that I will cherish forever. I hope it's felt eternally through the novels too.

We also very much appreciate all of you here during April. It's one of those intense months for us writing-wise, and we're just so full of gratitude for your support on Patreon. It keeps us going every single day.

I had the luck of having every book out except for NLU and ULU so I could read most of everything in order and loved Moffy from SKOP and the other books and I had to have his book. Now ironically his books are my favorites and Farrow is my favorite character :)

OMG!! Love the question. I read it right after I finished some kind of perfect because I was so upset that I finished the series. I was not reassured to let go of my core 8, so when I found out about the like us series I was so excited to read about the 2nd gen all grown up and the core 8 older! My heart has a special place for damaged like us! ❤️

Damaged Like Us is the first book I've read of yours. I think only Damaged was out at the time. I went back and read the addicted series while I was waiting for Lovers.

I read it so late actually! I read all of addicted series (except SKOP- I don’t know why I skipped considering it’s now my favourite) then jumped around a lot with the like us, starting with Sullis then to Lunas, and then back to Marrow. It was definitely interesting but was really fun to hear about developed characters from other perspectives and then back to hear their POV

I started damaged like us, exactly a year ago this week while on my birthday vacation at Disney World! I found Addicted to You in January 2025 through tik tok (I had covid and needed something quick to read before onyx storm came out). I binged the addicted series and bad reputation from January-March. I was so excited when I finished to see that you had a second gen series! I read the like us series from April-July, and then the day after I finished burn bright in early September I joined patreon! I found out about WWW, CIF and love and other cursed things. I also loved the bonuses and wanted to get the full experience with them so in October I restarted SKOP and read through BB with all the bonuses and most of the podcasts in chronological order. I finished 4 days ago!! It’s been a whirlwind but amazing 16 months in the Addictedverse, and I can’t wait for more bonuses, podcasts, and books to be released!

Learning about Charlie was the most interesting going from Sullis POV to Lunas and then to Maximoff especially considering I hadn’t read SKOP so knew little about him

I read DLU in late 2024 🥹 I took a big gap between addicted & like us bc I was so scared to move on from just the core six 😭but in august of 2024 I reread addicted (for like the 4th time after reading it in 2022) and decided it was finally time to read like us!! I wish I had read it sooner because it is pure perfection!! i’m planning on rereading it soon for the first time!!! I’m so so excited to be back with everyone 🥹🥹🥹 I can’t wait to see the new covers :,) 🫂🫰💓

I had read Addicted To You. When Damaged Like Us released. I devoured it. I adored Moffy and to this day he remains a favorite of mine. Once I finished that book i went back and reread Addicted to You as well as all of the books in the Addicted & Calloway Sisters series. Almost 2 months until I get to meet you both!!! Oh no, I hope Krista feels better soon! 🫶🏼 Those types of colds are the worst, especially when you know you have to get things done 😩 DLU was the first book of yours I ever read! I can't remember how I found it but I must have stumbled across it on Goodreads or something. I actually had heard of Connor Cobalt from TikTok of all places but I had no idea who he was or what book he was from, and then it clicked while reading DLU! After Marrow's books I went back to read the Addicted series because I felt like I was missing out on Lily and Lo's story and I needed to know more. By the time I finished up with all of your books (including Circus Is Family and Love And Other Cursed Things), it was in the waiting time between ILU and Misfits. 👽💚 I can't wait for the cover reveal!! The idea that Loathed Love is wildly unpredictable is incredibly exciting to me! I already think your books are unpredictable as far as romances go (there's always so many things that surprise me in the best way) so the concept of LL somehow being MORE unpredictable than usual is making me so giddy 🤭 Good luck with all the writing!! 💗✨

I am SO excited for loathed love. I’m definitely curious by what you mean by “most unpredictable”….like you could have never predicted where it would go before you started writing, or it would be impossible for us to predict as readers? Either way, can’t can’t wait. Also, I hope Krista feels better! Being sick is the worst.

Hope you feel better Krista, seems like everyone is getting sick at the moment so hope it passes by you Becca! DLU was the first book I ever read by you guys, I looked it up and apparently bought it October 10, 2017 which was right before LLU came out Oct 31! I remember loving reading the first two books so close together and feeling like it was torture waiting to get ALU lol. Love this question, so fun to see everyone’s responses

I read the whole Addicted series in 2023, and I don't know why I didn't search for their other books because I rated each one a 10/10. I think I just had so many books in my TBR that I didn't think to look. I will say, the reason I started reading it was because I saw someone reading Hothouse Flower, and I thought the cover and title were so cool! But I read Burn Bright when it came out, and the scene where Farrow treats Charlie and Harriet, I was like, who is this guy?? He's so cool!! He's clearly got a story. So then I read the whole Like Us series. Then Bad Reputation and Circus is Family. I'll be starting the Webs We Weave soon in preparation for the release. I'm trying to space it out so I can stay in the universe until Silver Sweet!

I went straight into DLU after finishing SKOP. I originally planned on taking a break in between addicted and like us bc I'd binged addicted so fast but I got to the end of SKOP and couldn't bear to leave this world (I still can't) so I ended up reading everything in about 5 months! I'm really excited to see the new cover!! 💚 any mention of LL has me soooo giddy, especially the protective Cobalt brothers tease in the newsletter! I cannot wait for November!! 😭🩷 also, I hope Krista feels better soon 🫶

I read Damaged Like Us right after reading Some Kind of Perfect. And I started the addicted series 2024 so the last Like Us book may have been coming out but when I read them but by the time I got to it all of them were out. I’ve read Lilo’s books about 6 times😅. The other Calloway sisters books twice. Willow and Garrisons once. And I read all the books up to Oscar and Jack’s book in the Like Us Series. Next month I’m planning to restart the entire series starting with Addicted to You and going all the way through the Like Us and Cobalt Empire. I’m hoping for Audrey’s book to be out by the time I get to hers and Tom’s😁

I haven't read DLU yet, but I'm getting there! My reading timeline was all over the place, I read a bunch of books out of order since 2024 because I didn't have the the time to commit to the series, but after I passed in college this year I decided begin from the start and I'm in Long Way Down already!

I read DLU back in 2017 when it released! I started with the Addicted series and then after SKOP I read DLU once it released! I’ve read all the book you’ve written in order as they’ve released on release day (except I started reading after the first several books in the Addicted series were already out, but then once I caught up, I read all of them as they released!) On a random note, I’ve been watching 911 for the first time, and I’m currently toward the end of season 5! Probably unsurprising, but Buck is my favorite character with Eddie close behind in second. I really like it so far! I’m excited to catch up to the current season! I also finally just caught up on the last 2 episodes of Survivor that I was behind on, and I love this season, but I didn’t love the blood moon twist. I’m really interested to see how the next several episodes go now after this past weeks’. Who are you guys rooting for this season? There’s so many good people!

I read damaged like us last year, there was a good three year gap between me starting it and finishing SKOP, mainly because i couldn't get over the core 6 😭 By the time i picked it up, the like us series had just been completed!! I LOVE the like us series and i can't believe i was able to go that long without knowing all the little details about each and every one of them, you guys kill it every time!!

Totally agree about the Blood Moon twist! I loved the episode overall but just didn't like how the twist affected so many great players. It definitely changed the vibe of the season going forward. I'm rooting for Oscar (hehe Ozzy!) and I love Christian, Stephanie (nostalgia, growing up she was my favorite player along with Amanda), plus I have a soft spot for Jonathan bc I loved him on his season. Which ones are your favs?

Krista had read the book beforehand and felt it was a little boring. I had not read the book beforehand (which I purposefully did bc when I read the Martian before the movie, I was a little bored). But I *liked* it. Did not love it, and I think my expectations were too high. I also felt like the score could have been better, and it attributed to me feeling confused about what the movie was trying to be. At times I kinda felt like it wanted to be deep like Interstellar, but then it played more into a Disney buddy film. Did you both like it?

I (Maria) thought it was amaze amaze amaze!!!😭we went to see it with very little expectation not having read the book—though knew it was by the same author as the Martian—and had only seen a few trailers so I didn’t really know what I was in for! But it was so much fun!!! Morgan liked it too, but she was also sobbing as if it were The Wild Robot all over again so don’t know if she enjoyed it as much 💀 I have been listening to the score A LOT but completely understand where you’re coming from with the mixed signals!! Its got some pretty random moments for sure, like at one point we were getting french or spanish vibes for some reason😭 On the interstellar to intergalactic buddy cop scale i think it definetly swayed more toward the latter :’)

I love the Cirie and the Rizard of Oz alliance😂😂 Cirie, Rizzo, and Ozzy are doing a pretty good job of keeping it under wraps, and I just think it’s a kind of unlikely trio. I’m definitely rooting for Ozzy! I like Christian too! I could actually see a final four of Christian, Cirie, Rizzo, and Ozzy🤔 plus they’ve all had a lot of confessional time in comparison to some of the other players so I think like they’ll made it far. Also, I feel like so far, I just haven’t seen a lot of Stephanie this season, partially due to the edit, so that makes it a little harder for me to root for her game, just because I can’t see what she’s doing. But I do like her!
