Welcome to the newest Fizz Hangout! Every Friday, you all can stop by the weekly Fizz Hangout post and ask questions (to us or to your fellow patrons), discuss recent bonus scenes and/or podcasts with each other, and catch up on all the goodies you might've missed!

HANGOUT QUESTION: we love seeing your response to questions about the Like Us series, and it helps facilitate some awesome discussions! Each week, there'll be a new "hangout question" that you can answer in the comments, if you wish! The question this week is...

What kind of book titles for series do you like better: the kind that use a common word (i.e. "Addicted" in Addicted to You, Addicted for Now, "Like Us" in Damaged Like Us, Lovers Like Us, etc.) or the kind that have different, unrelated words for each book (i.e. Kiss the Sky, Hothouse Flower)? Note: we do both and like both, so it doesn't hurt our feelings either way! Just curious to see what you all like :D

Weekly Recap

Happy Friday, magical & superheroic beauties! We're still inside sunny June, and we hope wherever you are in the world that the weather is looking good. It is HOT with a capital H here in Georgia. Like the hottest June we've ever felt in years. But luckily, that means we're happy to be holed up inside writing and editing. We're currently editing some group scenes in Misfits (which can always be the trickiest and need LOTS of edits) but it's fun and we're enjoying this book so much that editing doesn't even feel like work ✨💖 There will definitely be a day where that changes because all books have their ups and downs in writing/editing, but we're holding onto these good days.

As always, don't forget to read the more news section. We have more updates for all of you there. In case you missed it, here's what went down this week on Patreon:

- Teaser Tuesday: Teaser Tuesday #1: Misfits Like Us

- Announcement: The Bonus Scene in the Special Edition of Alphas Like Us is...

- Announcement: The Bonus Scene in the Special Edition of Tangled Like Us is...

- Announcement: The Bonus Scene in the Special Edition of Sinful Like Us is...

MORE NEWS

💗 ICYMI: Addicted to You and Ricochet paperbacks are being traditionally published through Berkley. Addicted to You is releasing August 16th and Ricochet is releasing October 18th -- both include exclusive bonus material! The short bonus chapter in Addicted to You is brand new and in Loren Hale's POV  🎉

💗 We're so close to the formal announcement about the Simon & Schuster Australia editions of the Calloway Sisters. Good news is that these editions have popped up on The Book Depository, which means those living outside of Australia and New Zealand who want the new Some Kind of Perfect cover will have a chance to order it through TBD. (Note: because this edition is traditionally published, it will most likely be a different "height" than our indie published paperbacks.)

💗 Signed Book Store Restock: This will still be happening in July (most likely end of July). The restock will include the Addicted Series, Calloway Sisters (both the new editions and original editions), Bad Reputation, and Misfits Like Us. You will be able to ask for character notes for ONLY Bad Reputation, Misfits Like Us, Infamous Like Us (while stock lasts), and Love & Other Cursed Things. We won't be offering character notes for any other books, including the new covers of the Calloway Sisters.

(As a reminder: We order lots of books, but we are limited by the space in our house. So we can't always order hundreds and hundreds of each title. If a title does sell out, we're planning on having more restocks.)

For more info about the signed store, we have an FAQ page

💗 In case you missed this news, there will be brand new covers for the Like Us series 🎉  These will be illustrated covers. They'll replace the ebooks, and the print editions will be special editions. Both the paperback & hardcover will include one Patreon bonus scene in the back of each Like Us book. We're still estimating that they'll be completed this year. They're being designed by the amazingly talented Haley Secen ✨

The original Like Us series paperbacks with the faces will still be available online, and for the rest of the Like Us series, you'll have a choice between the face cover or the illustrated cover for print. This way you can complete your collection if you already have the face covers

💗 November 4th-6th, we'll be attending Shameless Book Con 2022 in Orlando, Florida

Andrea

I love when titles have a common word or phrase in them. It just makes it a lot easier (for authors who have a lot of published books especially) to see which books are in the same series or related to each other. It is VERY hot here in Miami as well. You don’t even feel like going outside when it gets like this 😅🔥

gabriella 📖☁️🧸

I like when they have a common word in them! it helps me know which books go together just by looking at the titles 🥰 hope you both have a good weekend!! super hot here in NY too😅

Haley Secen

I don’t think I have a preference but I love whenever the title can be incorporated into the book in some way, like in dialogue or internal monlogue! I’m so excited about group scenes!! They are some of my favorite things that you guys write so this is making me extra pumped to read more in Misfits!!

Megan

So by "replacing the ebook" covers, does that mean if we already have the ebook the cover will change? Or is it just for new releases? Also, we'll only be able to get the face covers on physical books from now on? Just want to make sure I'm understanding correctly!

Illyana

Hey bestfriendd(s!) I lovee the same word used creatively in the title of a series ! But like you two, I like both as well! Becca How’s are Star Wars comic reading going! I clocked last week that you didn’t point me in the direction of what Star Wars guide your following 😜need to know! I might just… copy you 🤪

Illyana

Also I’m reread now and annotating Love and other cursed things cuz I’m by the seaside now in Italy and omggg need book two girls! I also adored Zoey’s bonus chapter. It’s legit beggingggg to have a book two… 😛

Illyana

And last thing ! Ive forgot to ask this like forever, but the pirate aesthetic and obsession that Farrow has, is One Piece (aka Lord of the rings for Manga but it’s pirates!) something he would be into? Or was into? Either the anime or mangas? I know he’s not a big guy to fan over anything, but it feels really apt?

A spector

I keep making the mistake of thinking the 13th book in the Like Us series is Unlucky Like Us, in my head it’s seems natural that the 13th book would be named Unlucky. I was wondering if you planned on officially or unofficially listing People Like Us before Infamous Like Us in the order of books? Thus bumping Unlucky into the inherent 13th book slot. Imagine all the promotional material for unlucky 13.

Tania Jeraldo

Hi 👋🏽 I like both but if i hace to choose maybe the Titles that have a common word/meaning. Like Damaged like us. The exclusive material on the new addicted book. Will we have the bonus scene later on patroen? THANK YOU for allt the hard work and love that you put in in each and every book ❤️

shi luvs st.cobalt

I look forward to these updates every week, they’re so fun! 🤗 ——— I enjoy both options overall — I’ll be happy with just about anything lol (😂) — but I do prefer titles that have a common word, or phrase, in them! I feel as though having a common thread in the title makes it easier for new readers to discern which books belong to the same series, etc. ——— I’m soooo excited to see the group scenes that you mentioned! I miss the gang so much and am sooo excited to see them all again next month! 🥹🤎

madzz

Hey guys, I don't honestly think much about the book names, so anything goes. I read the books for feels, feels are most important. I was wondering, is it official that you are pushing unlucky like us to next year? I know it might be too late to request but I am requesting anyways. Please don't end misfits in a cliff hanger.

Morgan

I think for me, I like the similar words. But I'm also fine with anything the author picks. Most of the time, it is very hard for me to remember book titles. So having similar or shorter titles helps. I honestly love all of the titles for your books that you have come up with.

Morgan

I was wondering. Since the Like Us series is getting new covers, does that mean that the upcoming releases will have two covers? One like the original face covers and one illustrated? Or will there only be one cover for any upcoming releases? Like Misfits Like Us. And will the original covers still be available to purchase on your website?

Lauren Gibbs

I really like them all, but I LOVE when a series has one word titles that all fit the theme~! 💕😍

Alexandra

I don’t think I really have a preference either way but I love book titles that have a meaningful pay off, so as a reader you have that moment „like ah that’s where the title comes from“. I will say though that my favorite book title (and cover of yours) is Infini and I’m not even sure it has that. I should do a re-read and check 😅

Aamna

I genuinely love the common words in titles because it just makes all the books feel connected. On another note tho, any updates for the release of People Like Us?

Sarah

Common words

Alexandra

I'm so stupid, the show was literally called Infini 😂 and how could I forget "some love is infinite" ?? disregard everything I've said before haha

Ellieeeee

Ahhhh that SKOP cover is gorgeoussssss, so glad we can pre order off Book Depositaryyyy

ann.nonymous

I think it’s pretty cool if series use common words, but I don’t have a preference either way. It’s more important to me that the covers match for series, even if it’s interconnected standalones.

Sarah

Completely off topic but I’m relistening to the LU series and I forgot how much I LOVE Jo & Beckett. And how funny Jane is. I can’t wait to see more of them.

Illyana

Also side note-Honestly the pressure Roxanne should feel to get the Amour Amour/Infini cast entering the chat and all hooked up is insane! :P I feel like the analogy in my head, when I think about the KBR universe is the X-Men (wow surprise suprise). We have the main run right, like Hickman's X-Men and we have the Maurader's run or say X-Force, as a separate one, and we need to get the crossover to stick and become one :P Amour Amour/Infini/Love and Other Cursed Things are not a full different universe, so the analogy of the Amour Amour/Infini can't be say, what Ultimate X-Men to the Uncanny X-Men run is, because Roxanne is featured in the main Uncanny X-Men run. BUT we need to get the worlds diverged and all hooked up. No doubt. And I can't bear the thought of All these beautiful people in Amour Amour Infini abandoned on their own mini dinki sail boats waiting for a soulmate! And best of all, ironic because of this ongoing water/ship analogy, Lake Tahoe can act as a Krakoan ground!!!

Illyana

I might have gotten a bit carried away in my analogies but my point REMAINS :PPPP <3 <3

Illyana

... we need to have Kitty and the marauders go grab the infini cast who have been left astray and bring the Infini/Amour Amour ! Ok now i am FOR real done with this analogy XD

Krista & Becca Ritchie

Omg yes, we step a toe out, and we're like, "Nope, not today!" And then the other day, we checked on our flowers. They did not survive this heatwave. RIP our flower children 🪦

Krista & Becca Ritchie

We hope you've had a fantastic weekend so far too, Gabriella! Sending lots of love (and hopefully some cooling winds!) your way! xoxo

Krista & Becca Ritchie

All of your ebook covers will change over in your e-reader's library once the new covers are uploaded. So the ebooks covers will all eventually be the illustrated ones, and you'll only see the "face covers" in print. It can be kinda confusing, so we're totally happy to always try to clarify things! xoxo

Krista & Becca Ritchie

Ah I must've missed that! Okay, so I have a list. I honestly couldn't find a reading order list on a website that I liked. I was looking specifically for how to read Darth Vader, Star Wars, and Doctor Aphra in order from the 2015 run. So this is the list I found on Reddit and it's super accurate and awesome: https://www.reddit.com/r/starwarscomics/comments/ug6gg6/star_wars_2015_sequence_reading_order_incl_darth/ Once I finish reading it, I might add it to our Comics Reading Guide bc I think it's such a good jump into the Star Wars comics.

Krista & Becca Ritchie

Aw Italy is probably gorgeous right now! Krista & I hope you're having a blast there! I think we'll one day return to the Mistpoint Harbor universe. I already miss all the coastal vibes and the characters there 💕

Krista & Becca Ritchie

We don't think he'd be into Manga, on account of the fact that he's not really much of a reader in general, but that manga sounds super cool! I don't think I've heard of it before

Krista & Becca Ritchie

We're not sure we'll add PLU to the main list, and we have thought about Unlucky 13 but it just didn't line up. It would've been cool if it was Book 13, but the plot for 12 is prob better for that title than Book 13 would be 💗 another cool fun fact is that Donnelly was born on the 13th! xoxo

Krista & Becca Ritchie

Addicted to You that's releasing with the new exclusive material is published by Berkley, and not indie published, so it's unlikely we'll be able to post the bonus material onto Patreon. It'll only be available in print 💗

Krista & Becca Ritchie

Hi, madzz! Hope you're doing super amazing! Sending lots of happy vibes your way 💗 💗 So we never really mentioned a date for Unlucky Like Us, so we don't really see it as pushing it to next year. It was likely always going to come out in 2023 bc of our workload prior to Berkley. Our thoughts were early 2023 (Feb/March), but it'll most likely be coming Summer 2023 now 💗

Krista & Becca Ritchie

They'll have two covers, one with the face and one illustrated -- BUT it's likely to start after Misfits Like Us because the illustrated covers are still in the works 💗 And yep, the original covers will still be in the signed store, woot woot! xoxo

Krista & Becca Ritchie

No new updates for People Like Us. It'll likely be a surprise when we start posting PLU 💗 Just to note: it's episodic and serialized, so it's going to come in very short chunks and not dropped as a whole finished novella 💕

Krista & Becca Ritchie

I love your thoughts on then, and YES! Totally see the Circus is Family / Mistpoint Harbor as like separate lines of the Universe, a la Uncanny or even New Mutants, X-Force, etc. And the main line is obv like the main X-Men line :D ~ B

Krista & Becca Ritchie

I loveee the Marauders lines so much! The part where Storm and Emma Frost have that emotional breakdown / bonding moment after what happens to Kate, my heart 💗 ~ B

Illyana

BECCA! Isn't it amazing? Especially after the tenuous relationship between Storm and Emma! Or even Emma's beef against and vice versa with Kitty. It's lovely to see! Also love seeing Emma's brother with Iceman... My fav ship to come out of Krakoa thus far!!!! What's ur fav ship? x

Illyana

THANK YOU! And OMG, So perfect just in time to read after Kenobi episode 6! Honestly how lucky are we that it just so HAPPENS that as Disney is banging out SW shows it coincides with the Lunelley era... *queue the Palpatine gif, 'it's ironic' :P* At Friday's hangout you have to tell me all your thoughts (and Krista's... and Lily's... and Luna's... :P) overall thoughts on the Kenobi show! Seeing Daddy Vadar be SUCH a beast this season was so wonderful... and Hayden is just *chefs kiss*

Illyana

Ok sorry i was being greedy :P Caught me red handed there! But Mistpoint is on my mind given the Kenobi show with August and Zoey's banter!

Illyana

Ahhh ok! then the mystery behind what, 'farrow geeks out on' continues XD. Or rather, as a kid what he like did, in his free time. Surely he wasn't a karate kid at age 10? :P But aside from that One Piece is amazing! I highly recommend it. However with caveats, because it's the longest form manga in existence (been around since 1994!) and it's essentially a Pirates Fantasy story. Extremely funny, doesn't take itself too seriously, but then the whiplashing morals and emotional moments pack a great punch. Netflix is trying to do a live action of it rn, but... eh, manga in live action never bodes well. They've tried it before and it's cringe... But yeah! Maybe it is something Xander would be into.

Krista & Becca Ritchie

I'm loving Iceman with Emma's brother! They're so cute and such a good match. I'm really into Becky Braddock x Pete Wisdom from Excalibur. I don't know if they're gonna be a thing, but I feel like he's flirting with her every time they're in a comic together, and I'm feeling it lol! I asked Krista this question (who is further ahead than me -- she's on X of Swords) and she said her fav is Havoc and Polaris 💗💗

Krista & Becca Ritchie

I still need to catch up on Kenobi and watch episode 4. I *think* Krista is further ahead than me, and I've been avoiding talking to her about it bc I know she'll accidentally spoil me lol 😂😂

Illyana

Becky and Pete! Yes! I must admit at first I wasn't really sold on Becky... I wasn't really interested in her and was salty for the amount of 'panels' that were given to her in Excalibur when all i wanted was Rogue and Gambit day in the life panels XD BUT! Ive grown to like her... more... ? :P Especially when I see her interact with Pete Wisdom :P I totallyyyy spot the flirting too. But gosh, idk what it is with this Krakoan run about everyone being so scared to confirm anything.

Illyana

Also... Idk if i mentioned this before but like.... Krakoan charles... with the body suit... with the hand gestures... with the Confucius one liners... and the abs... um... CAN WE TALK ABOUT THIS GLOW UP?! So it's safe to say that Charles and Magneto, now that they work so *closely* together... they have to be you know... making babies right? XD You know that categorical law Nightcrawler made canon... make more mutants... they have to be right...? RIGHT? :P <3 *Padwan seeks confirmation*

Illyana

Totally getchu. Let me know when you haveeee so we can chat about daddy vadar and space jesusssssss (kenobi). Andor is coming out next! Which is so exciting, when I watched the trailer it was giving like Dune bad ass sith lord asmr medidtation music. i'm so here for it. And that Kevin Feige SW movie as well? Ok Star wars she's workin'!!!
