This is an end of the year wrap-up of sorts! We take a look back at 2022 from start to finish, and we answer all of your burning questions. From comic books, to baseball, to future projects, and we even talk in-depth about publishing. These two and a half hours have a little bit of everything! I think that holding off on telling everyone what the next book after NLU is the best idea ever, because it gives you guys the opportunity to write without external fans banging at your window and pushing expectations. The royalties chat was a fab bam question! I think we talked about how actually a lot of traditionally published authors are now also IRONICALLY moving away from trad publishing because they realise that now given they have a 'reach'/'fanbase' they can now have a pay check that isn't 'capped' by the big 2! I think of Brandon Sanderson's books always being traditionally published and then during covid he got bored and decided to go indie with the go fund me thing and he realised 'a concept pitch that he had for some novels' was worth 8 figures! 8 figures just going straight to him and his possie! GO HIM!! Obviously that's an peak example, but i have noticed the trend happen nevertheless! Aside from the cathardic release of wanting creative control and the ease and ability to outsource help when needed (all things you mentioned!) And i also have a protective proximity bias cause i work in the alledged 'middle man area' i know how men in suits can sometimes screw talent for their own profit, and a lot of talent don't know their worth because of what they're pitched. And will raise Rose Calloway's and Emma Frost's wrath if they dare not treat y'all like the lore queens u are ! ;) <3

I’m not the biggest baseball fan, but I will watch the playoffs and World Series. I’m a huge basketball fan though, if you either of you ever get into basketball I can talk about that for hours! It’s not a de-stresser for me though, my anxiety and nerves go through the roof when I watch it 😭

And omg yes in my opinion Charlie’s books need to be in the middle of any series you write. So we can see him in his brothers POVs before and after falling in love 🥰 Biggest supporter of a Maria book pls I need it. Krista you need to bully Becca on this 😂😂

Ahhh Twilight, a topic I could literally talk about for hours. It’s actually the book that got me into reading back in middle school and honestly I still love them (and the movies!) despite all the problematic topics. And yeah jasper was in the confederate army 💀 but it’s ok Krista we’ve all been there 😭 When you mentioned bonus scenes I had a quick question. I know there’s no more subscriber goals, but do you think you’ll ever write bonus scenes that were voted on? Even if it’s a yearly thing or something like that?

When you say you want to see Charlie from his brothers POV’s first do you mean he’d be the last book? I feel like the middle book for him would be great because you could see him from their POVs before and after he fell in love.

I would actually loveeee it if he was after Beckett idk it would be really good build up for Roxanne's character since we would see her a lot from Leo and Beckett's POVs and also Charlie and Beckett can have their small fall out and drama and then we can see the build back up in Charlie's book again without so much time passing ☺️🤷🏻‍♀️

We do think it's possible that we continue to refer to the most recent poll (and likely the older ones too) of bonus scenes that almost won and write some of those bonuses. We've been looking back at the long list of topics that were suggested during Round 2, as well. The months that we have more time, we're always wanting to write something a bit bigger (sometimes this means having lots characters in the scene) 💗

Lol making commentary as I listen on my morning walks 😂 first off you both are hella fast at writing and releasing. I remember when addicted series were releasing and we got 5 books in a year that was heaven but a nice surprise, not expected. For y’all to produce more than 1 book a year is magical. 💕yess work life balance!

Oh and i completely forgot to address you about Sceema! I thought about it at work again today lol. I am 100% with you guys on Jott not landing and being very wallpapery. Jott just doesn't have anything special about them. Like, their dynamic is the same as every classic couple from the 60s and has barely developed since then. They don't have any interesting unique dynamic in comparison to other couples. Rogue and Gambit are far more interesting. Mystique and Destiny are far more interesting. Hell, most other comic couples are much more interesting. The other difficult part is that their relationship is unrealistic. Like, after all the issues they have been through, realistically, neither of them would want to get back together. Realistically, Jean would hate Scott for the affair, she would be shocked when she returned and heard about his actions in the Revolution era and his actions as a member of the Phoenix 5. She would be upset at him for a lot of things, and even if they patched things up, I could see them being friends again but never life partners. He developed into a completely different person while she was gone. A stronger, more dark but practical person. On the other hand, realistically, Scott would be tired of mourning Jean's deaths over and over in the past. He would not be a big fan of her idealism, especially after he went through the Utopia era and literally had to put the survival of mutantkind on his back. Hence why all he has built with Emma. The school, shifting the vision behind not just being a leader of the X-Men but a leader of Mutantdom as a whole during the Excinction/Messiah Complex era, embracing the vulnerability that we are now seeing with Alex Summers and addressing past trauma with Emma feels right to most of the us. Emma sharp exterior softened as a result of Scott's 'boy scout behaviour' and Emma sharped him from being a lost puppy always trailing after his the ex-wife. But now in Krakoa they are back together without context. As if the Dark Confession, Whedon's run on Astonishing and much more lore never happened. Notice how the writers/editorial lowkey undid the vast majority of Scott's development from that time. He's almost back to being 90s Scott again in terms of how he behaves. They forced this to make Scott and Jean's relationship work. He isn't as much of a leader that he demanded as he was once upon a time. Ultimately, any fictional relationship that needs *that* much character development to be undone in order to work just should not be forced to work. Both characters are better off without each other or as nothing more than friends. Constantly regressing them to match each other’s (lack of) development is just bad writing and not fun to read.
