happy release day!!! i’m 46% done as of writing this, and i can’t believe it. this book is just SO GOOD!!!! it’s absolutely my favorite in the entirety of the like us series. (i absolutely folded and looked in the back immediately haha)

Hello Hello and happy release day! 

My favourite character is probably… Donnelly? Which is very probably shocking IK bc i’m alway yapping on about Marrow, but I just love how much soul and uniquness there is in Donnelly. How much he suprises me, interests me, makes me smile, makes me sad, all in the most unexpected ways. Marrow is my favourite couple of all time and i think their 3-4 books were perfectly paced and the plots and tropes they def tick. But to go back to Nobody… It’s BEYOND exciting to finally get Nobody Like us! I am delusional though and am coping with the “end” by saying to my self daily, “it’s not the end, its just the beginning of also another era” XD. I have managed to stay away from spoilers and online chatter nonsense for the better part of the release of Unlucky, but just last night i was on COMIC BOOK TWITTER, and i saw a KBR spoiler them being passive aggressive and i was like ;laskdjf;alksdjf I think i broke a vein in anger XD. I despise spoilers and just social media hate on this we love! And I’m slowly disliking so much of these youth for ruining book online communities. But anyway, I’m so excited, I’ll be reading it slowly and savouring it like fine wine. There is so much to love and look forward to with Cobalt Empire, I can’t wait to read my favs (Ben Cobalt or Leo Valavanis!) and read about ones i find interesting (Charlie of course!) and hang out with Rose Calloway aka Emma Frost :D In more personally news… I left my job XD. I was working for a criminal law firm for a while and i just couldn’t take my supervisor who was extremely verbally abusive and chipping down my self esteem daily. I tried to fair my brave Rose Calloway face daily, but it came to a point where i felt more like a loser by staying and taking the verbal abusive lectures and shouting then handing in my resignation notice. That’s why I have also been less inclined to dip into happy places and enjoy things i love (Like KBR content!) because I was so upset and emotionally volotile at the time, I didn’t want that to bleed into happy places. But it can be very isolating. But it’s in the past! That’s whats important. There is a very romanticised view on criminal law which i could probably write a book about. Just like how Farrow rolls his eyes at Moffy’s Grey’s Anatomy references, the Criminal Law practice is the same. What’s funny is, the hardest thing I could say, criminal law substantively, is not really the harsh criminal convictions or disturbing offences, but really it was just communicating with these folks. Folks who do crime, are 9/10 people of low IQ, didn’t go to school, don’t know how to spell their name, don’t have emails, etc. So the bureaucracy of trying to get information or a stead timeline of anything or even having their name spelled out properly was like nails on a chalkboard. But interestingly though as one door opens two have opened! And I’m in the mix of interviewing for two law firms that are more up the practice of what I want to go into… Business to Business… Commercial. I like cross border projects and problem solving for a number of people. So I will keep you posted on that front :)) TV shows wise, I have finished Succession! And oh my days was that a Shakespearean tragedy! You guys were totally awesome for recommending this to me. It was just amazing how everything was so thought out and through. It actually kind of reminded me (no shock KBR universe is always on my mind but we know this by now lol) of Like Us, where every single detail or background plant or small trivia will mean something or adds something to the chapter. No mention is there gratuitously. And truly if i’m honest, I have so much respect for them deciding when to end, rather than what all of Hollywood is doing now a days which is squeezing a franchise for its money but only ending when the general public is out of steam. Just the last 3 episodes we see what a future would look like if either Roman, Shiv or Kendall would be in charge. Shiv is disloyal in everything she does by “keeping her options open” even in her romance; Roman is kinda sick in the head and does not respect anybody’s boundaries professionally or privately and For Kendall as well, it just made me think what Kendall ever did to truly lead. S1 he made a cluster of errors that got him self cut out and then fall into addiction and kill a man. S2 he became his father’s puppet and continue drug abuse which he justified in saying it aided him in being better. Then S3 he proved that even when he had the right position and ethical advantage he still didn’t have the contacts, influence or finesse to anything with it which caused him to loose his sense of identity and almost commit suicide. And in S4 when it came down to it in the presidential election, it proved that he didn’t have any real ethics either, it was just whatever helped him win personally. So he would have been i agree with Shiv, an awful leader. He’s not as competent or as capable or likeable as he thinks he is. His final failure was to secure his ability to convince Shiv at that final board meeting that he was the right fit. And when he was under once again, that same pressure of loosing it didn’t reveal his leadership strengths but glaring weaknesses. When Shiv clapped back at him saying he can’t be CEO bc he killed someone (which is kinda a legit concern lol cuz it proves he’s unsteady) and the way Kendall handles this issue in real time is to childishly claim he was lying… so he’s either lying then or now, but that still is a red flag!!! All manipulation, not taking responsibility or taking charge. He just screams he’s the eldest boy (which ain’t even true), and he’s just proving he’s an entitled child and that’s it. And they physically fight in a BOARD ROOM like children! At the end, Tom is the right fit not just because he’s an easier person to manipulate by a majority shareholder, but because he’s hardworking and got there through merit. Unlike the Roy children, who only know his father’s authority, Tom knows how Billionaires really operate, they don’t want a competitor or betray, or feel manipulated, they just want a loyal servant. Tom knows how to play the game, unlike the siblings just think they’ll win, because their father owns the board. Which is the real theme of succession and these billionaire family dynamics. A very interesting theme that I could see maybe Charlie struggle and be aware of. That those born into extraordinary wealth live in a different reality to the rest of us. They have been simultaneously handed every imaginable opportunity and advantage, while also being prevented in learning the true how’s and why’s of the world. As their lives are populated by superficial connections, and transactional relationships. They are sheltered from competition, insulated from consequence. They too need to feel a sense of purpose, but in a cut throat game of powers where there are only winners and losers, they will fail. Because those who have gotten everything through nepotism, will fall to those who have risen up through merit who have the proper tools in their toolbox unlike them. Because excellence, like all these families are born into isn’t something born into but it’s something you must battle to become (i.e. Emma frost becoming a Billionaire through blood, sweat, schooling and tears ; Logan Roy who got whipped and abused as a child and still bears the scares that motivated him and more). Anyway, I have mad respect for this show. I could def see Succession being the topic of conversation at Wednesday Dinners and Elliot, Connor and Charlie having a lot to say about that family! And honestly even the Hales! Because Logan Roy gave me mad Jonathan Hale vibes! Anyway, what shows have you been enjoying this week? :D In terms of comics, I have started Brubaker’s Captain America Run! What inspired me, is that brubaker who wrote the decade long scemma that we got, said that the inspiration behind Scemma was actually Sharon and Cap, who unlike Scemma, are still together to this day! So I was really compelled to see what it’s all about. And 25 issues in boy is it worth it! It’s incredible! I thought maybe Cap comics being more heavy on the side Espionage and no super powers may be boring, but I was surprised at how much personal trauma, dialogue there is! A criticism i had about the current X-Men era is how there are so many plot holes and forgotten threads and how none of the characters seem to have no personality or seem to reflect on anything, meanwhile every single traumatic thing that happens in Cap comics has an effect, is mulled over, and has amazing pay off. I didn’t expect so much mental health awareness from them and it’s such a great and welcoming surprise! And also, unlike every couple in marvel which got the chopping block, Sharon and Steve are still as strong together as ever! Honestly, I could write an essay on why they are such a great couple but i think one essay ^ per week is sufficient (next week tho? ;) ) Krista said that she was thinking of starting X-Men comics again (I haven’t yet! I’m waiting for a silver lining or SOMETHING to compel me! so you gotta keep me posted) have you started back up again? Also Krista you will LOVE Blue Samari! I’m not finished with it yet cuz I’m doing watch parities for that one with a friend, but it is amazing! I cannot wait to have your take on it! The Hales would be alllllll over that as well! I think i should end this update/post for the sake of everyone’s eyes! I love you guys! I hope your week is filled will celebration, enjoyment and fun gatherings for the publishing of Nobody and for the start of also a new era! Thank you for gifting and adding this era and all that you do for the KBR universe. It sings to my soul and provides me with endless joy. There’s a poem by Stephen Dunn that comes to mind everytime i think of the KBR universe, in particular the Like Us Era and all the work you do in patreon which is, ““All I wanted was a book that is so good I'd be finishing it for the rest of my life.” And that’s what you’ve been doing and continue to do. i always feel like i’m cheating when i pick my favorite character in the like us series, since i’m not picking any of the main characters. however, my loyalties always lie with ben. i’ve loved his character since we were first introduced to him and got to see pieces of his personality as he grew up in SKOP, and my love for him only increased as we got glimpses of his life in the LU series. i love how he contrasts with what people would expect of a cobalt, and i love how it’s acknowledged. i love the fact that rose and connor were given a child that challenges them in a new way. i love him for being the lamb in the lions den, because i see him as a lion in his own respects. he’s still passionate, he’s still fierce, and he’s still strong. he’s just different than his brothers. i truly couldn’t love a character more. i think i could write multiple essays on the perfection and complexity of ben cobalt. i could say a whole lot more more, but i know i talk about him endlessly and it’s becoming like a broken record. just know that i mean it soooooo much. all in all, i thank yall for writing the amazing ben cobalt. my favorite addictedverse chatacter, and absolutely my comfort character. ❤️❤️❤️

Pick one?! Really that’s just about impossible. I love them all for different reasons. If I had to narrow it down it would be between - Moffy, Farrow, Donnelly, and Luna. Moffy / Farrow because there’s so many ways I relate to their character and the ways the look at life. Maximoff in particular - oldest child syndrome all the way over here. 🙈 I love the way Donnelly and Luna approach life and are 100% their authentic selves. It’s inspiring! I want to be more like them! ❤️

Luna, xander, ben and Charlie have taken it for me! Luna is just the BEST version of her and I loved getting to read her have her happily ever after. Xander was a really unexpected character for me because prior to this I didn’t really have much interest in him but now is a whole other story 👀 I’ve always loved charlie and pretty much all my questions about him were answered in this book! I loved how we got to see him through lunas eyes 😩 Loving ben was the most unexpected for me because much like xander I hadn’t really thought of him as a mysterious at ALL and then BAM he’s mister mystery in nlu 😂 he’s taken charlies role in my opinion 👀

I think I'd have to go with Maximoff and Farrow. I love Marrow and Highveira, but Maximoff and Farrow are what drew me into reading the series and then reading The Addicted series. Maximoff was on the cover that drew my interest into reading this serirs and both Farrow and Maximoff's characters fascinated me. So, Maximoff and Farrow will always be my favorite.

Hello !! Omg this is so hard because I love so many characters!! Luna + Donnelly will always have a special place in my heart <33. I just finished NLU and I’ve transformed into a literal pile of mush 🥺🩷. I was wondering if you guys have ever heard of and/or listened to boygenius?? In my opinion, their song “We’re In Love” has major Lunnelly vibes, especially the second half of the song. The lyrics ,“If you rewrite your life, may I still play a part? It made me feel all the feels and I can tell that you put your entire heart and soul into it !! 🩷✨🫂

I had to scroll through your thoughts in case there were spoilers, but Krista has seen it and keeps telling me to finish. She said it's wild! It's definitely on my to-watch list. Everything you said about the Cap comics sounds so intriguing!! Especially with the mental health awareness. I love when the consequences of serious events aren't brushed over but deeper explored. I've only read about Cap through the Avengers and through the perspective of X-Men (which he doesn't come across the best lol) and I've always loved Cap from the movies! I'll def have to look into them. I still want to try to pick up the Flash comics after your recommendation though. They're high on my list after I finish some of the old Star Wars lines I'm reading. I just caught up on 9-1-1: Lone Star and Krista is further through our TVD binge. I'm also watching Rome on Max for the first time bc it's one of my husband's fav shows (he's a huge history buff), and I love it soooo much more than I thought I would! I actually wish there were more high fantasy or historical shows like this on TV and not just basically House of the Dragon and Rings of Power. I'm craving so much more!
