Confused? Good. ME TOO.

Today we tackle episodes 3 and 4 of Teen Titans, which includes the pilot because we live in a Topsy Turvy world full of chaos!

Regardless, I am already starting to warm up to this show. The characters are fun, the dynamics are cute, and the style is enthralling. More than anything I found myself just admiring the animation itself.

I also feel like I'm already getting a sense of who these characters are, which makes me a lot more excited about continuing this journey.

make sure to follow along and make sure to join the discord for crucial updates....like when these vids are actually coming up.

I'm pretty sure the old man is supposed to be Wintergreen, Slade's Butler

Unstablebeast

Starfire is heating up the metal to make it malleable then it cools, also this is Dick Grayson robin, not Tim

anarchist Mando

We never learn, not even the idea that they accidentally caused his own son's death Like in the comics I mean they show Joey Wilson but they don't show Grant

Jalen Brown

The robin of this show is Dick Greyson “the first robin “

Phina O'Neil

I love your commentary when it involves lore and details, I do. But you are SO fucking funny when you're learning as you go. This video was amazing and I really love watching you fall for these characters so fast.

Chunklate

Im really excited for next week, the series really gets going there

Xeno

I really hope you calling Robin the wrong one is going to be a running gag throughout this

HungryWinner

Fun fact, they aired the episodes in the correct production order in the UK. So we were much less confused then everyone across the pond.

Hey Nikhil! Awesome video! As others have mentioned, the Robin of the show is Dick Grayson, the first Robin. I wanted to add that the creators of the show were not allowed to elaborate more on who Robin is or his connection to Batman due to a policy in place at DC for a long time commonly referred to as "The Bat-Embargo", which prevented non-Batman projects from referencing bat-related characters directly, and absolutely forbade the man himself from appearing. Using Robin was a tough fought battle for Murikami and Co. when they were making this one, so I wouldn't expect many Batman connections to pop up on the show beyond the occasional vague and reference. I cannot wait to follow along as this continues!!!

The scene of her bending thing is not magic is just that her rays were so hot that it made metal became a malleable

Bailee

I’ve heard of the bat embargo before but never why . Did they lease out the rights and couldn’t legally or was it an internal choice made for a different reason . If so what was the reason.

Sol's Stories

Love watching you discover one of my favorite shows of all time. Haven't researched the show in a decade but this is a great way to do so.

Cat Lawyer

Elephant solves everything.

The_legend_ranger

Ironically and in support of your beast boy animal god joke. beast boy is sometimes depicted as the avatar of a monkey god of animals

Cameron Cool

Yes I believe beast boy is fuzzy all over

Inquiring Raven

Everyone is lying. It’s not Dick, it’s Damien… or Jason… or Stephanie Brown.

Heavenly

Episode 4 gave me the WORST nightmares growing up! Like I love thunderstorms, but the giant creature freaked me out for some reason

Star Ringer

Fun fact: Damien didn't exist yet!

Black Marvel

Episode 3 was episode 1 when it aired on CN bk in the day. I remember them counting and it reminding me of Codename Kids Nextdoor. Not sure how the watch order got mixed up

NikhilClayton

Episode 1 aired on cn first (at least in america)

Inquiring Raven

Yes, that was part of the joke. Damien wasn’t created yet, this was the era when Jason Todd was considered perma dead (Under the Hood wouldn’t come out until 2005), and that Robin sure isn’t Stephanie Brown.

The reason for the bat embargo, stupid as it is, is they didn't want multiple adaptations of the same character to exist at the same time. As they thought that would confuse children; especially after the DCAU had trained kids to expect all of these shows to be connected. So if someone else had already used the character no one else could. For example Robin wasn't allowed to appear in The Batman until after Teen Titans finished, and wasn't allowed to appear in Justice League Unlimited at all because that show finished before Teen Titans. Though weirdly Batman himself was allowed to appear in multiple different adaptations at this time.

CrowbarsAreMyKryptonite

Exactly this! Thank you for elaborating. I thought about including this so I genuinely appreciate it. It was so, so stupid. What baffles me more is that this mindset is still present at WB somewhat. They refused to collaborate with any other games while Multiversus was active, then the minute they shut that game down DC and WB at large had a bunch of collars with games like fortnite. Hell Terry is in there now lol

kyle the fan

So just so you know thunder and lightning are actual DC characters, most of the superheroes that show up in this show are from the comics, the villains is like 50/50 on comic book to original made for the show, you'll never guess which

Leo

Merry Christmas!

Matthew Morrison

Sauron reference woo just read his first appearance. I’m still new to the X-Men but he’s my favourite villain so far

Matthew Morrison

Fun Fact: Stephanie Brown is a girl. This comment was clearly a joke

TransTrickster

I hope you keep this series yup I’ve been meaning to rewatch this and seeing you react while I’m getting my memory refreshed it’s really entertaining
