I love shooting in the French Quarter because the buildings are so cool and colorful. You can literally walk a hundred feet in a different direction and find a building which will match the colors of the clothes your model might be wearing. And you can pretty much get away with your model not wearing clothes as well. However over the last several years it's become far too dangerous to shoot in the French Quarter or New Orleans in general due to the high crime rate. Walking around in the Quarter with expensive cameras is like having a huge target on your back. And even though LA has now passed a law making it legal to conceal carry a gun it would be impossible to pay attention to your model to shoot and also have to pay attention to people coming up behind you to rob you at gun point and possibly get shot. So I really miss shooting in New Orleans but I don't care to be somewhere so dangerous. Possibly I might shoot there again renting a room with a balcony overlooking the Quarter. I also miss being able to walk around and photograph the architecture there. Maybe some day it will be safe again but probably not in my lifetime.
