Work Progress - August Update (Patreon)
Content
Hello All,
I've been waiting until I hit a mini-milestone before I posted this latest work progress update. It's taken longer than I envisaged, but I have finally completed the images for the first 4 updates to HEROES OF CELTICA. I now have a total of 1613 processed images for the game, which is almost one-third of the total amount of images for STELLAR INCOGNITA. Crazy.
Because HEROES OF CELTICA doesn't have an image filter over the artwork, I actually find it can take longer to make the images, because I'm paying more attention to the lighting effects to try and get the best feel possible for the Iron Age and primitive feeling of the game. In many ways, making a sci-fi game is easier because there are a lot of corridors and rooms with straight lines which are easier for a computer to process. With a fantasy style game, you have trees with leaves, grass, lapping water in rivers and roughly hewn tavern furniture which takes longer to render in 3D.
I'll keep you posted with how I'm going now I have moved into the next stage of the writing and coding for the game. I've also been trawling the internet to find the best music possible to put into the game, because I think a good soundtrack really adds to the immersion of a game.
Here's a sample of a few of the renders I've made that I think are pretty neat, to give you a feel for the game:
