It’s 4 AM, and neither of us can sleep. The world outside is quiet, wrapped in the hush of the early morning, but here—wrapped in each other’s warmth—it feels like the perfect moment. You mumble something about needing a distraction, and I know exactly what to do.

Shrek.

So we curl up together, tangled in blankets, my head resting against your chest as the familiar opening song fills the room. The soft glow of the screen flickers across our faces, but I’m more focused on the way your fingers trace slow, lazy circles against my back. Every now and then, I whisper a teasing comment about the movie, just to hear your quiet laugh. And when your arms tighten around me, pulling me even closer, I sigh contentedly, feeling sleep finally begin to tug at the edges of my mind.

Maybe we won’t finish the movie. Maybe we’ll drift off right here, safe and warm in each other’s arms. But for now, it’s just us, a little past midnight, lost in love and fairytales.

when I start my countdown we will press play at the same time and watch together*
