Some of you have voiced your doubts or discontent about the change in the reason for which the Purebloods were being bought.

Let me explain my thought process:

I removed the breeding theme from the story not out of any moral concerns but because it didn't make sense given the world I've established. For one, this system of slavery is very different from the one in our world. As an example, children of Slaves are not automatically Slaves. Therefore, it makes no sense to breed them. It would be an arduous process every single time to force them into accepting the Ritual.

This leads to my second point. The way the rich are "forcing" the Chimeroi into accepting the Ritual is Undercity. They basically lock them up there with minimal resources and no oversight to create a hellscape they are desperate to escape.

This is the system I've established over the last 40+ chapters. The breeding thing was a throwaway line I wrote into a single chapter because I assumed I would pick it up later, but it is not how the cookie crumbled. I could have gone the breeding route as well, but then I would have to change how the Ritual worked and what the purpose of Undercity was.

It's fine, there will always be a few people complaining no matter what you choose, just go with your story direction. Most of us will only care if it really makes no sense, otherwise we are happy to go along. People forget this format is a draft and not a finished product. You are allowed to change your mind...

People are weird. The change seems sensible to me, since like you said, it's a dead plot point that doesn't fit with what we've seen anyway.

I agree with the choice. Delving into breeding would probably take away from the main theme of the story since it seems like something Zeke wouldn't personally do, just based off his personality. Aside from the moral implications which could be explored, it just doesn't fit into the story at this point.

Seconded. Zeke as a character has kind of been written asexually anyway. Introducing breeding to the slavery system would just muddy the water and portray Zeke badly for not pointing out and wanting to put a stop to it.

I see....than make more sense now...sorry to not see that from you point of angle....you are the captain of this ship...aya asy cap :D

This make sense to me, awkward situations like this are usually polished out in the 2nd, 3rd or 4th draft before publishing. Thus is the cost of webnovels and straight to reader content.

While I fully agree with the move the author is making here, I truly hope the author doesn't go down the route to make the character completely uninterested in a relationship.. characters that don't eventually have some romance are hard to identify with for most folks, myself included.

Storyflower

Frodo made it all through the trilogy without romantic relationship. I am quite sure that many people reading Tolkien identified with him. And it is not like romantic tension is completely absent. After all Akasha is made in the image of a few of Zeke's early romantic encounters.

TheCommensuratePup

So if you don't think most folks see him and Samwise as a couple you should go online and look it up, mate.

Revan694

There is a vast, and I mean vast, difference between a romantic relationship and a slavery breeding program. Romance is welcome in most stories, but the other is a large can of worms that would take away from the main story to sort out. If the author were to construct the story around being against a slavery breeding program, it would be a good story because the author is great. But, it's way too close to rape. Some stories deal with that, and its a hard subject. It's not a good fantasy adventure topic, unless the author pulls off something like the Goblin Slayer, and has the main character have a vendetta to kill everything associated with it.

TheCommensuratePup

Agreed, I am super super happy he removed that from the story

Honestly, I love the change and think it makes sense given how Korrovan works. It’ll also be interesting to see how it’ll change with Zeke owning the Undercity.

I honestly didnt really care about the breeding thing. But the whole auction felt kinda pointless since the main point, to acpuire snow, was thwarted by nonsensical throwing around of money by a frankly insignificant antagonist.

Are there a bunch of progenitors running around having kids? Because having purebloods be enslaved on a semi-regular basis, with all of them being direct children of progenitors, implies that. That's fine, I just thought progenitors were super rare ancestral beasts or something, rather than fantasy Nick Cannon. I think the change is good, I'm just wondering about the numbers
