Whew! Finally got it up (albeit a bit later than intended..) This has been something I've wanted to react to for awhile! I did watch Holy Grail as a kid but Life of Brian was never something my parents got me to watch. (I realised why while watching it! 😆)

People made such a fuss at the time, including people who had not seen it. Jesus is in this and the sermon on the mount is played completely straight. Jesus is not criticized at all. Piety is. Paper-thin justifications for violence and sectarianism is.

I can see why it was controversial at the time, but I agree with you!

This is brilliant, I first saw life of Brian as a late teen a few years ago, as I have suffered with a speech impediment all my life, I laugh at the jokes, as they say alwaysn look on the bright side of life, so long as we all have a brain and a heart that works. Thanks for the great start to the day. Just thinking on a John Cleese front, Clockwise is a great movie with him in, a mid 80's one where he plays a Headmaster going to a teachers conference and anything that can go wrong does.

ah yes, Always Look on the Bright Side of Life! It's a great life motto :) Thanks for the suggestion!

A great film that took digs at all sorts of things. The ending is perfect.

Close friend of Michael Palin & Eric Idle, and former Beatle: George Harrison, funded the movie himself just because he wanted to see it “The Worlds Most Expensive Movie Ticket” Class act :) Makes a cameo appearance too, blink and you'll miss it! He also appeared as a news reporter in 'The Rutles: All You Need is Cash' which you should definitely watch. I guess you could call it an unofficial Python film

ooh fun!! I'll have to look for his cameo 😆 And thanks for the suggestion!

Great film! One of my favourite ‘Christmas’ movies (along with Home Alone!). Yeah it’s weird that in the 70’s full frontal nudity was acceptable in films, but simply saying certain words referring to body parts was totally frowned upon! I’m thinking of George Carlin’s 7 words you can’t say on TV.
