Hi guys! Hope you're having a good week. Sorry this is a bit late!

Ah nice!! I'll check them out! Thanks Brodie :)

The main question I've got is why he didn't adopt a different first name, or even simpler, just call himself Pete!

MeganRuth

That is a very good question! 😆

I don't know how old Peter File is but maybe the word paedophile (or pedophile as a Canadian would say) was only popularised (or popularized as a Canadian would say) later in his life, when he was already firmly a Peter to his friends and family. It would be difficult to change your name at that stage.

Thanks Jeffrey, the curiosity got the better of me so I did a little research (I had to be very careful for the search terms for that particular Google search!). It does seem like it’s only been popularised relatively recently (I.e around the 1980’s). And we’ve all heard the stories from the 60’s & 70’s where it seemed to be almost a bit more normalised? It’s weird. “Be in a same sex relationship, we’ll send you to prison or chemically castrate you. But have sex with an underage girl? Ah go on then”. (I don’t want to sound like I’m trivialising the issue by the way).

Ghost

He's a fictional character, and his name has to be Peter File for the joke to work. This is a comedy show, not real life.
