Great reaction as always Megan! "Porridge" was a British slang word for serving time in prison, because it was mostly porridge they had for breakfast. I'm not sure if it's used at all now.

Thanks Daniel! Ahh ok that makes sense! (I was sort of right…😂)

“I thought it was going to be about porridge” 🤣🤣🤣. Couldn’t stop laughing at that! (not in a nasty way, just in the realisation that we have some pretty weird slang terms here!). From what I remember, Porridge uses quite a lot of slang particular to the time so feel free to hassle us patrons about any weird terms used and what they mean!

MeganRuth

😂 yes it is funny! I never considered Porridge to be anything but porridge! haha and noted! Thanks Adam! 😆

I don't think this is the first episode. There was a pilot episode before this one, subtitled: Prisoner and Escort.

MeganRuth

Yes I’ve been told! I’ll have to find it somewhere :)

Why would they handcuff them in the prison? Where would they go? 3 of them wouldn't get far, i think maybe your thinking about US prisoners where they seem to be shackled by the legs and wrists if they move anywhere, the UK i dont think generally handcuffs or shackles prisoners as much.
