Hi Megan, I’m with you on that, why accumulate wealth with no one to pass it onto? I have kids so that’s an insensitive for me, but the only thing I can think is that the show was trying to portray jack as a priest and although he wasn’t a particularly good one in many ways he didn’t squander his money and perhaps wanted it to go to a good cause when he passed? Perhaps that’s just me romanticising his character but that’s what I took from it, he enjoyed the simple things in life!
