Crazy that in along park they did name drop jimbei but about 90% of people probably forgot (including me) about that by the time we met him😬🤣

You’re halfway there. Can’t wait for your minds to get blown. Hurry!!!!

So excited for you guys to start this flashback! One of my absolute favs (and not just because Jinbe is my favorite character :p)

Luka Murphy

We're getting into some of the most nuanced exploration of the concepts of institutionalised and generational racism I've seen in any fiction, you two are in for quite a ride.

Fish Grandpa, Bone Daddy, Staw Boy, and Mosshead

What Hody made them do with the picture is mirroring fumi-e, which was a practice in Edo-era Japan (1629–1868), back when the borders were closed off to the outside world, where people were forced to trample on images of Jesus and Virgin Mary to prove they weren’t Christian. If they refused to do so, or were even just reluctant, they would get arrested & tortured. After that they would be given another chance to trample over the images. The ones that still didn't abjure from their faith, would be executed by being boiled alive in hot springs.

Fisher Tiger basicly saw "Human" nature by saying that he saw "Humans" but yeah those were mostly only the Celestial Dragons what he saw in Mary Jois and how they were doing things.

MrMegaman94

next episode is one of my alltime favourites, can't wait for monday. ❤️

"Otoheem" 🤣

ViperBreeze

Boa Hancock said that Fisher Tiger disliked humans as a species. However, when he attacked Marie Jois, he was being fair to all slaves, letting slaves of all races go free.

Nermin Selimovic

this backstory is my favorite part of FMI Arc, cant wait to watch this episode

I LOVE this arc so much, and a huge part of that is Queen Otohime and Fishman Tiger. Can't wait for the next episodes, as I love watching you two discuss characters and lore!

Remember when you met Wapol and you said villains in one piece has no redeeming qualities? This is one of the first instance we get to see a villain that we fought a long time ago and a renewed perspective on his hatred. Of course we can never forgive what Arlong did to Nami, but understanding the motivations of a villain is part of what makes the story good for me. Arlong was just another piece of a broken system in the world of one piece. its crazy how we started this show at Arlong arc thinking all fishmen are evil, then we come to fishman island, then realize not all of them are, how Oda humanizes Arlong despite his evilness.

John Thomas

This is one of the realest arcs in One Piece bc the struggles of the fishmen are so familiar to us and we can tell how the injustices in modern society informed and inspired Oda

Green Oak

I love Fisher Tiger

I knew the two of you were going to really enjoy the queen. I dont remember much about this arc but I do remember that of course, like always, this part was sad. We all know that's coming, I don't remember the details so I am kind of fresh watching this part. I just remember the broad strokes of the backstory and then there was the sad stuff. I mean of course, it's a backstory about an assassination and there's slaves involved with Tiger. I'm actually kind of glad I dont remember anything about it other than the specific thing that happens. I had completely forgotten that she would slap the shit out of people lol.

Lukas Zabojnik

Do you girls consider watching Bleach in near future??? Aside from filler, the world, story, character designs are great. Also, in my opinion Bleach has THE BEST FEMALE characters and i am sure you will enjoy every single one of them. Its a bit violent, true....but its place in Big 3 is well deserved.

Jake Scruggs

Can we start having 3 episodes for every video? 2 is just too short for one piece :)

HeartlandHunny

Unrelated to One Piece, but have yall considered reacting to KPop Demon Hunters? Or have you already watched it? (Sorry if you’ve been bombarded with this question, lol; just hadn’t seen if you’d mentioned or not)

I love this long-winded outro's

Daniel Atkinson

Fishman island has some really important themes and issues and its explored in such a One Piecey way.

Dale Cooper

Garp and Sengoku putting up with the government is such a tough topic. Like yeah you are in a position of power to control some, but ultimately you are subordinate to a fucked up structure of power. I don't think I could ever work for a government that allows this no matter how much the costs out weighs the benefits.

Dusty War

Hancock stated fisher tiger did not like humans, but he just freed all the slaves because they were all here ng oppressed.

Meryem Uysaler

I agree, they're both on the morally gray scale, but imo that makes them even better characters. You can argue that they don't want to dismantle the existing system, but rather reform it indirectly by raising a new generation of young marines with principles and virtues, who can stand up to the corrupt system (like koby did with akainu). Does it make it worth it to conform to said system during that time? Who knows, but to be fair it's not like they're both actively contributing to the corrupt system, but not doing anything is equally as faulty.
