My favorite translation of the narrator during the transfusion scene is as follows-- "Those who wound, and the wounded, both bleed the same red blood. A small correction to the subtitles, the Sea Kings call Shirahoshi their "King" rather than their "Queen", whatever that might mean.

Yeah same for me but only because of the pacing watching it weekly and the isolated story after marineford and sabaody felt boring. Especially as a teenager when I watched it then. No with plus 30 I can appreciate this arc so much more

They use the word 王 (ō). Which means "ruler" or "monarch". Often translated as "king" because of historical reasons, but it is technically a gender-neutral term also usable for queens (and often used in One Piece as such)

I know its not over over but WHAT AN ARC. World building, Lore drops, villanious villains, heroic heros, showing off Straw hats new abilities and all while having a very real and serious message throughout. The blood exchange, gets me everytime. Jimbei is the GOAT. Can NOT wait more!!! But first i do belive a party is in order... MEAT!!!!

There are a lot of theories about the show that can be drawn from this arc alone. Nothing is a coincidence. Again, I am rewatching along with you two for the first time in literally ages and I remember a lot, there's stuff that I forgot such as them suggesting Noah could be repaired or whatever, and I dont remember who "they" are, but I'm sure it has something to do with later on. I don't think I saw any development after this arc of anything and I dont wanna say how far I got, but there are some things floating around that this arc specifically has tons of theories surrounding it. I believe there is enough information to start making bold theories! Back when I was initially watching this arc, almost everyone on reddit was talking about quite literally a dozen different theories of what D is, joyboy, the void age, etc.

On their FAQ they mention that even though they won't read the comments anymore, you should still not talk about any spoilers in here. Theories are included in that. The problem with theories for mods and other people like myself, who try to keep this spoiler-free and are helping them is that we never know who is caught up and who isn't, so theories are always a problem. Even if you say "I don't know that either", that's a spoiler, because it reveals that something has yet to be revealed in the story. So please refrain from discussing any theories in the comment section, unless you are a first time watcher. And if so, clarify that. It's tricky, but that's how we have to deal with it

I find that I feel so strongly like a Straw Hat along with you girls in your reactions the most at the "end" of arcs. I get it Luffy, I don't want to have a boring adventure and I don't want this adventure to end at all, especially when I'm going through it with y'all. When an arc "ends", I only ever feel so much pride, emotion, & excitement to "start" rising in our adventure together!

Also when Jinbe says he's a "Pirate", I'm reminded of when Luffy said the Pirate King is the freest man on the seas. I get the implication that being a Pirate, as Luffy always encourages this particular value, is to have the freedom to do whatever you want. In that sense, I like to interpret Jinbe's "I'm a Pirate", as him saying "I'm free to make my own choices", and that in itself is also so beautiful that he willingly offers his blood to Luffy ❤️‍🩹

Since when are theories considered spoilers? Often people who are actively reading or watching something like to hear theories. Sharing theories is standard critical reading skills. Unless they say otherwise, I will assume that they go by that convention.

Those who said the fishman island is not a great arc, watch this again. This arc is very relevant in the upcoming arcs, especially the thing about the Noah. Hints will be dropped along the way, but it will only be revealed in the recent arc.
