OMG I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS FOR THE LONGEST TIME

bertaunth

ty vinland, but now it's death note's turn 😈😎

Ynkku

I'm excited, riding that ride a second time after idk how many years, lets goo.

PKS

Nice, been requesting this one from more than a year now. But anyways thank you for taking this up. Also, can you guys put Dr Stone also in your next polls. It is a good anime and mostly happy happy kind with interesting story and science experiments in it are mostly correct too.

Torje Amundsen

Shinigami (死神) literally translates to God of Death/Death God, which is indeed the word they use in Japanese for the Grim Reaper

Tay

So excited for this!! One of the first animes I watched from start to finish and I watched it in like 2 days.. Lmaoooo

DaveJin

HYPE HYPE HYPE!! <3

Class3oo1

IMO this is the best first episode in all of anime so exciting.. glad this masterpiece won

Janne

oh my god its finally time!!! im so excited!!! btw, light (yes, thats his name lmao) wrote several names for that biker dude in the book because you can write same-sounding names in several different ways with the japanese characters :)

Janne

oh also, shinigami means "god of death"! i think theyre supposed to be like....basically a grim reaper type of deal!

iMportJ

Watched 50+ anime and I have to say, Death Note is one of the all time best. Not just that it's good, it's also so unique. Just love it!

Janne

isnt that just one of the craziest first episodes youve ever seen? 😂 episode one and our protag already wants to be the god that judges all the "bad people" in the world 💀 it IS fun to imagine what you would do with a death note if it was real. i think id actually just not touch it if i knew what it was haha

TamashiiTheGemini

Not sure if anyone clarified that yet, but the reason why Light wrote Takuo's name so many times was because in Japanese, names can be written differently using different characters (which give the names different meanings). Light wrote Takuo's name in all possible combinations, so he would guarantee that one of these versions matched his face, making sure the Death Note could work.

Billy Dancel

Death Note was one of the series I binged during the lockdown. I didn't have any streaming services before that. It seems like a blur now but I'm thrilled to be going through it again at a slower pace.

Loic_French

Back then I bought a replica of the Death Note from a merchandise website; I still have it in my desk drawer. I always wanted to try it out, but I was afraid it would work. What an idiot.

Jonathan Charles

You aced the major themes in episode 1, again. I bet you two were good at book reports.

Nadeem L

Great reaction!! Thank you so much for finally reacting to Death Note! This and Code Geass are my absolute favourite animes, so Im really excited to see these! Those beings and their lore are in Japanese myth and folklore which explains Light's familiarity with them - it's as if you met a vampire (id avoid them) and you had a bunch of questions like 'how are you out in the sun?' or 'why are you sparkling?' etc. Well, this was fantastic. Episode 2 is SO GOOD and I literally can't wait

Nadeem L

While that scene was playing out there was a note saying 'all possible versions of Takuo'

Torje Amundsen

God of death is the literal translation, but it is also the actual word they use when referring to the Grim Reaper in Japanese!

Bim Skuddi

Not really the best place for that kind of discussion. If someone says it’s well written and you challenge that, both of you will have to dance around spoilers for the girls.

Devon Joseph

Facts, it's the first EP. Have some restraint. Follow the discord to have this kind of discussion. They seem appropriately hooked and it would suck to have that ruined for them.

Devon Joseph

I think they missed that, hell I missed that. If I hadn't known this prior then the scene wouldn't have jumped out to me.

Devon Joseph

I personally am not a fan of reactors ALWAYS watching DeathNote. It feels kinda saturated in the reactor sphere (1st world problems, I know). But these girls are my favorite and the reaction is refreshing, and I know they would like it. Now if we can get them to react to Code Geass 👀, that would make my day.

Ilsuk Yang

Haven't watched Death Note in a long time so it's like I'm watching it for the first time with y'all lol

Ikado

Fasten your belts! Get ready. Seriously!

DevilWearsAdidas

I thought it was because he was writing the cause of death.

Bennett DuBois

"shinigami" translates directly to "death god"

Bennett DuBois

code peak was on the same poll with mid note. unfortunately the average anime fan has shit taste lol

Pod Rider

I love Code Geass but their fan service episodes are atrocious

Reese Singh

Imagine going about your business and you encounter a twisted monster when you're by yourself, Ryuk must have been so scared...

Wojciechu

Let's goooo :D:D You're so scared haha Makes for a good opener to the serie which I did not even consider to be scary :D Hope you'll have a fun ride with this one!

Yathavan

Haylo's brain is going to go into overdrive for this one XD

RAMbot

Been waiting for this one!

Dan Cervantes

For a supposed genius, he really puts a lot of stock in “criminals” from public sources.

Pir@teK!ng

The anime that got me hooked to anime! This is awesome!

Codejobs

I hate the timer in the video, it loos even better in the Youtube version :/
