If you haven't heard the rumors, we will be starting Solo Leveling on Tuesday! We'll explain more in the video but essentially, Kiss has reallyyyy wanted to get to this one, and with the amount of fans it has + it being a recent show, nothing felt fair to pit against it in a poll. Excited for that as well! Have a great weekend all! -Haylo & Kiss 💕

I love how everything came full circle and everyone was doing good. Such a great story!

My mom who doesnt watch anime introduced me to this show but the live action version 7-8 years ago. My mom enjoyed it, I really enjoyed it and just glad it got voted on and won for you guys to enjoy it. While I was hoping the reaction to solo leveling wouldve been after the show was finished... I totally understand wanting to jump in on it now. Especially from the sounds of it of how much Kiss is just chewing at the bit to watching it. Im excited to see your reaction to it especially Kiss' reaction bc of how hyped she is. I also really like the fact that it lines up perfectly to end at the same time that death note will end. I dont know if that was intentional but if it was... *chefs kiss*

before i even watch this reaction: i hope that our persistence to push for this show has been a rewarding experience for you ladies. We were hoping you would enjoy the mystery and emotional beats of this very short series. BTW: the netflix live adaptation was nearly 1:1 with the show, but some argue that the ending of that live action was slightly better because instead of the rooftop scene, it showed our "hero" satoru run down a field (showing that his efforts for physical therapy was rewarded) but also he used his knowledge of the future, because yashiro didn't know that satoru already dealt with him in an alternate timeline, and didn't know that satoru already knew of yashiro's tendencies to use a fake phone to lure his "victim" to him by pretending to be someone else, and yashiro didn't know that this satoru, who was asleep for 15 years, would realize how technology for phones works compared to the past, so satoru had an upperhand because of his knowledge of yashiro's M.O and tendencies AND knowledge of how technology works, like they showed in the anime that satoru was able to to read Kanji characters that he never would have "seen" before as a kid, because his future knowledge subconsciously persisted.

the way i understood the spider string thing, from the short story, is that the spider in the short story sent a string down from the heavens to that guy who didn't squash it, thinking it had a chance of redemption. But in the story, the guy kept fighting off anyone who tried to "climb out of their hole" like him, to be the ONLY one saved by the spider, and because of that, his internal evil (since he was in hell for other reasons) took precedence, and the act of killing off the other people around him made the spider rope snap, indicating that he cannot be saved. So the sensei here kept seeing others with that spider string, and like the story, he was killing off anyone else who had a shot at either redemption or a better life to "climb out of their hole", by killing them, like the short story, so he can be the only one saved in his own psycopathic mind. BUT, much like the short story, when satoru beat him, and satoru being his "last thread to hold on for life", his own string snapped, indicating like in the short story that his evil deeds finally caught up to him, and he was beyond redemption and is going to be stuck in that hole (representation of jail) forever. And that's why he started laughing, not out of happiness because his cord snapped, but as a "broken realization" that reality finally hit him, that he was no different than that evil man in his own short story, and it was a laughter out of acceptance that "so this is how my storry ends". And ironically, both the teacher and the man from the short story COULD have been saved, by helping the others UP the spider's string, and lifting them up instead of knocking them down. The boy in the story could have helped those who wanted redemption up, thus showing to the spider that he was indeed trying to be a better man and not squashing that spider wasn't a fluke. And the teacher in this story, could have been a better rman by filling his heart's hole with helping those students instead of killing them: like satoru said, when he saw the teacher's face when kayo was saved, satoru thought that for a moment, he saw a father figure in his teacher, someone to be supportive when others weren't there for them... but the teacher's own actions and endless "thirst" and stubborness and addiction to the thrill of killing ultimately caused him to lead himself down the same path of the short story, instead of being a better man/teacher to help the kids that needed him... He had potential, that's why all of us kept TRYING to rationalize and justify the teacher early on in the show, because (like satoru said) we were HOPING to believe in him, even though he didn't believe in himself... but this is the difference between a hero and a villain; the hero prioritized believing in saving others so they can save HIM in return...whereas the villain prioritized saving HIMSELF so that others arent saved INSTEAD of him.

i didnt even realize that they havent seen solo leveling's story yet, but hopefully they will now. But this series was short enough to be a good "winter cozy vibes" detour. and I'm glad they took it!

you know, a lot of people back then were upset that kayo ended up with hiromi instead of satoru. But it makes much more sense this way. When kayo was hiding in the bus, she was spending a lot of quality time with hiromi who was also a "loner" and hiromi's the only one who thought of bringing her BOOKS instead of a TV because he knew she'd like those more. Not only that, but if kayo ended up with satoru, and with hiromi/kayo alive now, it would have changed the time potentially too much to be recognized in terms of "butterfly effects" (pun intended). But kayo and hiromi BOTH disappeared in the original timeline, so their relatiosnhips with their surrounding people was non existent in the first timeline, so seeing them both SHARE that relationship in the new timeline, without causing too many stones to be turned over and the "river of time" to be changed too much, it makes sense from a time-travel retcon perspective, as the simplest way to resolve those new threads. Also that means their baby, Mirei, which means "future" is an apt name for that baby, since that baby did not have a chance of existing in that past, but now has a chance to exist from both the parents surviving, to live its new future. Meanwhile, satoru andAiri had a lot of chemistry together, but she was a high school student (17 years old) at the time, (which is above the age of consent in japan btw, just to stave off the nitpickers and creeps), but now in this new timeline, even though he woke up in 2003 vs his original timeline in 2006, it's assumed that time passed a lot since he woke up, since he wrote MANY mangas and even has an anime adaptation after the success of one of his storries (which take years), so in this timeline, this highschooler Airi was no longer working in the pizza show, but was following her own dreams potentially in her early 20s to take photos and take snapshots of "life" in that moment, which circles back to the original conversal they both had, and how his mom (the yokai whose intuition is never wrong) always kept hinting that these 2 belonged together... and the butterfly effect showing up at the end, felt like the universe giving not a "gift/reward" in the form of Airi, but a HOPE to BELIEVE IN, an OPPORTUNITY, to gain back what he'd lost from the original timeline, whether it's airi the friend or something more ;)

I think you missed it but in the end the radio station said it's two weeks before Vancouver 2010 so Airi is 21 at the end.
