3:55 fun fact, the "boss" word is just a mistranslation but conveys the similar meaning. He's actually calling him "Aniki" which means "big brother", but the translation implies the INTENT why he's calling him "big brother" and it's just an asian (not just japanese) way of showing respect for someone older than him, or someone that you value.

Respectfully friend, the public comments probably aren't the place.

To clarify, Hunter Choi (red hair) is the guild master of the Hunters GUILD, and the girl Cha Hae In is his vice-commander. President Baek Byungu is the guild master of the White Tigers guild. They're all S ranks. The purple haired guy that showed up in the end here is a B rank hutners' ASSOCIATION (the public "police" of the hunters), and they're not the same as the hunter's GUILD. The old man Go is the president of the hunter's association, and oversees the police of it all.

A couple of things that might help you understand the Korea setting. Yoojin construction:- In Korea society is dominated by Chaebol (재벌) literal meaning "rich family". After the Korean war in the 1950s the country was devastated, and in south Korea. the government turned to the rich families to rebuild the country through their investment. As a result a handful of rich families were able to control the majority of the economy. Conglomerates such as Lotte run many many businesses such as construction , groceries, hotels and so on. As a result these chaebol are able to deeply influence government and further tighten their monopiles. The implication being that yoojin construction is a fictional chaebol. Jeju island :- Jeju is not just some random island in Korean society. Its very beautiful and a coveted holiday destination and in some ways represents peace and tranquillity. There is also a spiritual connotation to Jeju, as its the home of a very ancient branch of Buddhism , similar to Shinto. As such the occupation of Jeju by monsters is a deeper societal wound than it may seem on the surface.

I'm not sure what the original Korean used terminology-wise but the Japanese-voiced show translating 'older bro' to 'boss' in the English subs is throwing me off XD

He calls him "hyung-nim" in the manhwa, "hyung" being older brother and "nim" being a respectful honorific. So quite similar to the japanese "aniki" meaning older brother. The reason subs are translating to "boss" is cuz of the way yakuza use it to respectfully refer to their superiors/elders.
