A friend who speaks Japanese explained me the writing near the end of the episode years back, when I was still motivated to learn Japanese - but I'm not entirely sure. If I remember correctly, what's written on screen (勝てよ - "katte yo") is the imperative form for "win!", in the sense of "you go an win" (from an outsiders perspective). He then changes to "katsu zo", which is more a "let us win it!", so basically from an insiders perspective. So this scene basically represents a shift, where he doesn't just tell the team to go win, but that he includes himself in the team. I've also checked my German manga and there they also translated it to shift from a "you" form, to a "we" form :D

Haylee: "I think we're taking it a little too far. Hes just a high schooler." Me: uh.... teenagers scare the living s... out of me.

Class3oo1

I speak Japanese. You pretty much hit it on the nail.

I was holding out until this episode to do this Name Drop! #6, the 2nd year that was giving the pep talk to Kageyama on the bench, is Ennoshita Chikara. There's a Japanese saying "Ennoshita no Chikaramochi" which literally translates to The Powerful Person under the Floor and the closest English definition would be "the Unsung Hero." Ennoshita is VERY hidden throughout this series, but he shines when he's present!

I LOVE THIS SO MUCH 💕💙🙏

I didn't know that's what his name means. That's so perfect for him! Ennoshita has always been one of my favorites because of these little moments we get of him. He low-key plays such an important role on the team. Thanks for sharing!

There have been several times after watching their reaction, I just let Crunchy Roll keep playing the next episode and end up watching several more episodes. It's so hard to stop!

We have the best third years! I also love anytime we get some more of Ennoshita. He doesn't get much screen time, but once you start noticing him, you realize how much he actually does to support the team.
