i keep telling you, head swinging and bopping during the opening music drop should be s mandatory universal Apothecary Diaries experience, even the shoulder swaying is subtle but caught in 4k ;) hahah

Actually, @Haylo/Kiss, I’ve seen this show over 50 times, and you’re genuinely the first two people I’ve seen call out the cup-rim detail. I’m not confirming or denying anything here, and whether the theory goes anywhere is entirely for the show to answer. It could all just be a fun crackpot theory-crafting session. But let me see if I understood Haylo’s thought process correctly, and tell me if I’m reading it right: 1. Everyone serving in the rear court is drilled on basic etiquette and tea ceremony rules, including avoiding the part of the cup where a noble’s lips would touch. 2. Jinshi casually brushes the rim of the cup. 3. Sure, that rule may technically apply when serving someone else, but this is also the kind of show that loves hiding two or three layers of meaning inside what initially looks like a random gag. 4. If that etiquette is ingrained deeply enough to become second nature, like covering your mouth when you cough, then it becomes interesting when someone breaks it absentmindedly. 5. And in this scene, Jinshi is noticeably less “composed” than usual because he’s distracted by Maomao’s outing with another man. He’s knee-jerking/shaking, huffing and puffing, and generally not paying attention to his usual controlled mannerisms. So the cup-rim brushing could simply be another subconscious motion slipping through while he’s distracted. That doesn’t mean it confirms anything. It just makes it a really fun detail to notice and speculate about. And that’s really why I wanted to comment. I’ve never seen anyone single out that random moment before. Whether the theory is brilliant, completely wrong, or somewhere in between, I love that Haylo noticed it and followed the thought through. I’ve seen her hesitate a few times because she worries she might be overthinking something, but please don’t apologize for that. Those little theory-crafting moments are part of the fun. Sometimes you’ll spot an Easter egg that pays off later. Sometimes the show will completely pull the rug out from under you. Sometimes it really was nothing. All three outcomes make the experience more fun for you and for us watching along. So keep throwing the theories out there, even the crackpot ones. Right or wrong doesn’t matter nearly as much as paying attention, thinking out loud, and occasionally noticing something even veteran viewers never stopped to consider.

22:30 Or someone who knew full well what the correct etiquette was, and deliberately flouted it out of spite. That's the interpretation I considered the obvious implication when I first saw the show.

If he is a noble or not that was his own cup. I don't think ghat has anything to do with wheather he is or isn't but it's obvious that Jinshi likes Maomao and is extremely jealous

Those tablets that changed colors in the fire were printing tablets. The ones thrown in the fire were just used for a different purpose

2026-09-11 06:00 Gyokuyou just losing it as Maomao walks out of that meeting with Jinshi is one of my favorite things. She could ABSOLUTELY have explained to him what was going on, but chose not to because it was way funnier to her to watch him squirm. I love it because it not only shows that Gyokuyou has a fun/playful side, but that she is in a social position where she CAN just screw with one of the managers of the rear palace with zero fears of repercussions

Love the theory crafting, honestly why i love watching the two of you. Can't say more than that cause I can't think of a way to say what i want without possibly confirming or denying ideas.
