Additional fun fact: When Flambe was revealed she said 40 of her brothers voted for her as "cutest sister" (out of 41). In this episode it's now (implcitly) known who the 1 brother is who voted for someone else and who he voted for.

What I love most about Brulee is that she was literally mistreated by the Straw Hats throughout the entire arc, and yet, when she talked to Katakuri, she said, “I won’t forgive the Straw Hats. They gave you such a hard time.” After everything that happened, she wasn’t angry for what they did to her. She was angry because they had hurt her brother.

One thing I can't deny about the Big mom Pirates is that they care for each other and try to protect all the neighboring Island from Big Moms hunger pangs, some of them help with the evacuations, we also saw the lady with the slow cutting technique help people that were stuck in the ruble.

Oda has said in past interviews (before WCI) that he doesn't want to write romance, because most boys won't be interested. I wonder at what price? Everyone who lives there must sacrifice 1 month of their lifespan so that they can continue to live there. Likewise, foreign islands that are nearby are completely looted and destroyed. I wouldn't risk my life every day and be slain by a huge woman because she doesn't get her candy. Most of her children live in great dependence on her. Big Mom rules over everyone uncontrollably, but is also exploited and abused for power.

What I really love about the WCI Arc is how it covers the strength of familial bonds, and how some bonds don't need blood to be strong. From Luffy doing anything to get Sanji back, Sanji willing to drop his life to protect his crew, Big Mom's children loving their mother and some choosing their own family over her in turn, Katakuri's obligations to his family; Sanji's story here starting and ending with Zeff. It's an amazing arc for the heartstrings.

From what I understand she erased him ever seeing her third eye at the bare minimum since you can see the scene where she reveals it on the film she's holding in the alley way. I love this arc and that scene in particular because it's one of Oda's few Romances in the series and it's done so well. It was so nice seeing Sanji's normal situation of fawning over every woman flipped here and then to have it taken away makes it hurt so much more. Literally leaves me feeling a void in my chest watching that scene again.

Remember, none of bigmom's children did anything wrong. They defended their mother in their own territory. They are just really good people. Especially Katakuri. And Brulee? She's a big softy that loves the hell out of her brother. Of course she'd want to hunt down luffy and maim him for hurting her big brother wouldn't you? Great kids, the lot of them. Yes, even perospero. He's weird but he did nothing but protect his family and go with his mother's plan to kill an evil cult leader lol. What a fannnnntastic arc. It's just opposing ideals where no one is wrong and no one is right. Well Big mom is wrong, surely, but that's it. Also, we didn't even see her fight. She attacked, but we didn't watch her fight anyone. That's nuts, her arc and no one fought her aside from Brook (but can you call it a fight? lol) we only saw her **subordinate** fight luffy and he nearly killed luffy lmao

Aren't love stories generally sad though? The only thing sad about this that is 'tragic sad' is that Oda doesn't want to commit to anyone having a relationship, therefore it's a heartbreaking loss, if it wasn't that ending and they remained together it'd be a killer love story.

I don't know what the heck was wrong with me, but I disliked this arc the first time I watched it. Then it was better on my second time. Then the third time I watched it, which was a few months ago, it became S-tier to me. And so 877 became my new favorite episode. It's packed with several great emotional moments, great art and imagery, and accompanied by an amazing song.

When you get to the next arc it is small but there are so much flashbacks that you do not need to see so I would recommend skipping the flashbacks and just watch the actual story of the episodes.

877 might be my favorite One Piece episode. It's certainly up there. WCI is a special arc, and Big Mom will always be my second favorite emperor.
