Oh boy if I didn’t read the manga or watched the show before I can’t lie I probably would’ve quit on one piece after all these recap and flashback episodes

Kokuutou92

I mean you don't have to watch all flashbacks & recaps, you can use arrow buttons or mouse to skip around...why quit when you can skip?

Fadi

Wano incoming The best is yet to come it’s special arc

Wsgyan

Because quitting is easier when you’ve been skipping through 5 straight episodes lmfao i understand people quitting one piece cause there’s a lot of em

Daemedeor

While I understand, if you weren’t watching like 6 episodes per week and only 1 per week, it was like years before you got these “naturally”. it is a bit much if you’re binging and/or rewatching multiple times but in context of when these aired, not terrible. THAT said, yea this rewatch is mostly a problem for reactors and you could just skip by clicking around when you want.

Jay

I'll be the first to say I don't understand the sheer HATRED that the reverie brings to some fans. Yeah, there's a lot of flashbacks and it's disruptive to the pace. You're still almost 900 episodes in, and this isn't exactly new? It's pretty standard One Piece. Great reaction girls! Can't wait for y'all to catch up with us in the manga!

Pioka

Just shut up

Ruben Pomp

Wano is my favourite arc

Jewy

Lmao the ptsd caused by Morley 😭

YHF

the pace is horrendous :(

Bram Had

flashback piece

Jones

Probably just because during the time they watched it, that was 3 months worth of episodes but non flashback content was about 3 episode worth. That memory sticks and would suck. If you watch it now though, I see little reason to hate it since the flashback sequences are so obvious you can just skip it. I'd see no reason why one would feel forced to have to watch them.

George N

Man these flashbacks are so annoying i dont how people managed this week to week

Zen

The best reassurance during this recap filled pacing is that Wano is on the horizon. Almost there🎉

Snowman9712

In the manga the Reverie Arc was densely packed with amazing content. It's unfortunate that the anime includes so many recaps that it feels tiring. Hopefully the non-flashback parts at least partly make up for it ✨

Dreamknight942

There is barely any recap episodes…. It’s just reverie

Wsgyan

These flashbacks didn’t exist in the manga so yes these are recap episodes

Halstead

Just telling the goat about the GOAT.

Daemedeor

These did. But in like a 2 paragraph remark taking like a panel (albeit large) or two vs a massive amount of

Jay Chauhan

Hope everyone is doing well and having good time.😊

zynmxri

Welcome in the Greatest short Arc ever before the Greatest long Arc ever !!!

Mayumi Klopp

I always see the people being less scared of Neptune and his children because they're Merfolk, not Fishmen. Merfolk tend to be fetishized instead of reviled like fishmen, both are seen as less then human by the bigots though.

Narukyuu

I love Morley so much lmao they are so iconic

Kokuutou92

You're going to quit after 5 episodes? This late into the show? You can watch literally skip all of the fillery recap & flashbacks, and watch only the important in under an hour...and then you're back to main story episodes. So I really don't understand your comment, nor the problem you have. By the time I watched these episodes, I knew the canon so I skipped to those parts. But also there's fans, like H&K, who wants to re-experience things in new animation so they watch recap & flashbacks, great, understandable. What did you do the first time you watched these episodes? If you were watching now why wouldn't you skip & get to the good episodes?

Kokuutou92

Yeah I absolutely don't understand it either. I watched these episodes while they were releasing. I knew the canon so I skipped and watched the important parts. Spent less than 10mins per ep then moved on. The hatred & quitters are psy-oped because they keep posting & yapping. Just use your mouse or spam right arrow button. Anime only fans who watched this while these episodes were releasing, you already know the arc that's coming up. Let the studio cook. Also yeah studio caters to the Japanese audience who reads the manga before the episodes are released. Let them do their thing, their own way. They shouldn't cater to overseas anime only fans. Haters gonna hate.

Leon

Its not so much the arc itself but how it was adapted. In the manga this was a extremely tightly paced 5-6 chapters. It was extremely well paced even by manga standards. While the anime extended that to 12(!) episodes, doubling the length. That’s extremely bad pacing even compared to all the other adapted arcs.

plane

Idk i like the flashbacks 😭 Also LOL at kiss getting ptsd while wearing an aot tshirt hahaha

ASMOS

Maybe just for this arc you could considerate One Pace 🫠

Skele

Oda knows what he's doing. Obvious Attack on Titan reference 😂

Abu

I wouldnt blame the 2 if they start incorporating the fast forward button in their reactions. 😂

Nate

Remember, these recap episodes were literally YEARS between the content. Not weeks or months like when you watch them in bulk. They said it seemed like forever ago for them and theyre speed running the show. Imagine watching these weekly and how long Luffy/Ace childhood arc, fishman, Dressrosa and Whole Cake took in real time. Marineford ended around 2010. Whoe cake ended around 2018-2019.

Nanami's Wife

Mind you, you aren't even considering the people who are watching the show probably for yearsss only 1 episode per week. The flashbacks are good for people who have been here since the beginning. It's nice to have a refresher after 20 years and it fits with Reverie and it was definitely needed before Wano. And like how the other comments said, it's only 5 episodes. If you're a binge watcher when you started one piece, you can just skip it. I understand the manga was better paced, but for anime u can just skip the recap. That's what I did. It's not killing you to do that. So dramatic

Nate

Also, if you made it 882 episodes I would be shocked if thats what made you quit now. Lol

Kokuutou92

Not about anyone here, cuz Idk any of you. Why couldn't people just take a break and wait? Maybe they were still prepping for Wano, so let them cook? Maybe the animators wanted to go on vacation, spend time with family, visit friends and relatives who lived far away. Do anime only fans need top tier eps every single week? So what if the manga was much faster than the anime? What do they not have other things to do, or animes to watch, games to play etc? Why SO much hate for a dry period of subpar episodes when we don't see what's going on in the studio? All I'm saying is, I cannot for the life of me grasp what the hate is for. It is incomprehensible.

finn

u guys can just skip thru the flashbacks lol i don't think ppl would mind

DiegoTO

This might be a fun fact. King Taco is based on Emiliano Zapata, a revolutionary from Mexico who fought for the rights of agriculture in the country during the Mexican Revolution and the phrase that he says it's actually a one to one reference to one of Emiliano's quote

chieboy32

Flashbacks are necessary when you are watching the show weekly. It reminds everyone about past events and see the characters that we have not seen in years. But you will feel that it's just a waste of time if you are binging the show. Just hang in there girls, Peak Piece will be here before you know it.

C2-H5-OH

THERE'S A GIANT IN THE WALL!! ...wait, wrong anime

Nido

the comments complaining about modern op pacing alongside the comments hyping up wano are SENDING me. like, it's gonna be both slow and great.

Pollatin

Bro. 0.5 chapters adapted per episode is absolutely atrocious even for One Piece standards. I don't get the hate but I also don't get why you are defending this. Reverie is just a shit adaptation, that's all there is to it. People can have the right be mad about that.

Monkey bing bong

I always forget that Toei sees spots for padding and filler like sharks can smell blood.

Duc Tran Viet

We have to admit that many don't look so focused on one piece, there are viewers who don't finish watching Arc or just watch it casually in a row without really paying much attention to the plot and content. One Piece has over 1000 episodes, so you can't expect everyone to remember certain things. It's just a shame for fans, but unfortunately every audience has to be served here. Watching all episodes often takes several years if you can't watch every day. One Piece has very little filler compared to other anime. That's why you should never be critical of it, because that way everyone can somehow understand the plot without having watched several hundred episodes before. Reverie is an important event and it's where extremely many and important characters come together that wouldn't exist. The relationship they have with each other and with Ruffy makes the whole arc so exciting.

lucian serros

Props to yall for chugging through it and still appreciating the new stuff

Kokuutou92

"I don't get the hate" "Reverie is just a shit adaptation" What? You're not making sense, seems like you are a hater. If you don't get the hate you wouldn't be commenting. I watched these while they were releasing, and spammed the right arrow button but it was amazing to see old scenes with new animation, took me back to high school in 2000s. These eps were a nostalgia trip. So yeah I'd defend these animators anytime.

About9000

Oda just loves his Silhouettes. I wouldn't be surprised if there was a silhouette silhouette fruit.

Star.D.ust

i'm actually enjoying these so much! and i've rewatched one piece so many times🤣
