2026-10-21 07:00 Another couple fun facts and context for you guys this week: This might be universal, but in traditional Japan our hospitality is a little extreme; if you go over to someone's house they will definitely offer you food, and it is courtesy to refuse the first time, but they will offer again and you have to accept. It will DAMAGE a housewife's pride if you don't accept their food. My grandma is also like this. The samurai girl calls herself "sessha", which is the way many samurai said "I", and is pretty masculine, which is why Zoro and Luffy looked confused. Also, although there weren't many female samurai in Edo, they did exist. However, most of the time they were trained in defence and martial arts, and used long weapons like naginata or bows and arrows. This is probably why Zoro was so fixated on the fact that she owned a katana, which is a very hands-on combat, offensive style of fighting. And a fun fact: Bakura-cho is based off of a real town that exists in Japan called Bakuro-cho. Historically, this place was famous for horses and livestock markets, which could be why we were introduced to so many animal-hybrid SMILE users and this town is where they hang out!

Never noticed until today that Law’s crew member Sachi‘s hat was a killer whale

Mone

'This is nuts!' was diabolical xD

About the fact that people who are fed do not really care. It's something that happens in real life too when there are huge inequalities. People who can't really comprehend the reasons behind these inequalities tend to justify their status by rationnalizing their wealth and essentializing the access to ressources and power of others (ex: "you have less because it's in your nature to have less") and it is the case in Wano. I won't say more, I'll let you discover how it is structured.

Ian K

Is that a beautiful swordswoman with meat?

MotU_Shosha

Thanks for these facts. I already know quite some things you are posting, but not all and that's very interesting. Wano is the arc where many details are getting lost, if you are not very well knowing of japanese culture and don't understand the language. I learned quite some things during Wano, but only by watching Youtube videos that explained those things. And sometimes the manga translation added some notes to explain certain things about the wording in the japanese original like the choice and meaning of "sessha".

MotU_Shosha

It's so funny how Law gets happy that Luffy finally arrived, but it lasts only 5-10 seconds because Luffy is already causing trouble :D Reminds me of this Law meme, where it says something like "You carefully make a 200 IQ plan, but then you hear 'Gomu Gomu no...' "

Jonathan Charles

Clan lords like Oden was are called "Daimyo" if you want to add another word to your JP vocab. Ahhh, episode 900 already. These are flying by. I forgot how good Wano was. Yes, earned is the word. The more powerful the enemy, the cooler we have to get after they are defeated. That's just the law!

Wake

Just passed the 3/4 mark 76.36% completed =901/1180

Lasombra

I had to go look up if Batman actually stops Luffy's punch in the manga. He does not.

Januar Ramli

"Sessha" is a historically masculine Japanese pronoun meaning "I," used exclusively by samurai and ninja.

Saya Scarlet

I love Kiku so damned much T_T

SimStu

I seriously had to skip some of these scenes, the padding is INSANE

You absolutely have to watch the movie *Film Red*. It’s the perfect time for you to see it, since you’re already familiar with all the characters (except for the main character, who is introduced in the film). The story centers on a girl named Uta (which translates to "song" in Japanese). She’s a childhood friend of Luffy and the daughter of a very, very popular character—one everyone knows... but I’ll let you discover that for yourselves! Beyond the plot, which is excellent (well, Oda was the one who oversaw it!), the songs are absolutely stunning—truly out of this world! The singer performing them is currently the number one artist in Japan; she’s surpassed everyone else! You really need to watch the movie and check out her songs. Her name is Ado—definitely a name worth remembering!

"Law is gonna have an aneurysm" is probably how you can describe every arc since Punk Hazard lmfao.
