You two correctly caught that Lady Lihua intentionally lowered the charges on Shin from 'attempted murder' to 'verbal abuse.' The former would have gotten the death penalty in all likelihood, so it is safe to assume she had mercy. However! I did not realize until I read someone else's comment in the past that the charge was not simply attempted murder, it would have been attempted ROYAL murder. Lihua did not just save Shin's life, she more likely intended to save the life of all of their relatives as it was historically common by Law to execute an entire family for just one of them trying something on that level. All because the unborn baby is a royal. So we can interpret Lihua thinking about innocent lives more than her guilty cousin's.

If you go back to the first few episodes of season 1, you'll see that it was Lady Shin that found Maomao's note on the windowsill and then threw it away. It was only shown for a few seconds and easy to forget. The original novels did a fantastic job of setting plot points up early that only get a payoff several books later.

The name mix-up of a few characters at the beginning :skull: lmao That's actually hilarious for so many reasons, but there's so many shows happening in parallel that it can be hard to remember all the names. It was funnny though :D Also, your reactions at the persistent cliff hangers is so fun, we can see your excitement and love for this show.
