This episode is one of the best reveals ever in anime. And yes it was done to shock you with its bluntness. It is a "mic drop" moment of shock. That being said, Reiner exposed himself for reasons that will be revealed in the next couple of episodes. But if you noticed Bertolt was also caught by surprise when Reiner revealed the truth. And you are right about Reiner, Bert and Annie infiltrating as kids. You're also right about Ymir, when she was a titan, eating one of their group members. Lastly you will get answers to ALL of your questions when you finish AoT. No questions are left unanswered. That being said, AoT was written to be re-watched over and over again. There is so much foreshadowing that is placed in front of you that you will be embarrassed you didn't catch it all. But's that's similar to real life in a way.

This is a pretty popular episode to find reactions to, though I’m sure you would have probably guessed. If you remember, there were members of the 104th ,like Reiner and Bertholdt, that were separated at the beginning of the season, coinciding with the Eren/Annie situation. They were suspiciously without any gear and kind of just forced lounge around. This was hinting that there may be a mole in the 104th that they didn’t want anywhere near the Eren/Annie event, though they didn’t know who it might be at the time

Yeah, it was definitely a "mic drop" moment 🤯 We'll have to rewatch everything once we finish the show, because yeah, they're dropping so many crumbs 😄
