Avatar Wan backstory was one of the best thing that happened to Korra show especially in this season. Avatar lore is huge just as it's world building, so obviously they don't have possibility to put everything in ATLA or LOK. Glad to know Avatar movie about adult avatar team of Aang would be released in January 2026. And other two seasons series that connects to Avatar world would be in 2026. I am excited, we need more Avatar content 😆

2:30 This will be a bit of a long one, but for clarification on how this ties in with the original benders since a lot of people get confused; (understandably) The lion turtles were shown in ATLA during the library episode for a brief moment in one of the books, and the writers had this origin planned since then but couldnt find the time to fit into the original series so it wasnt just a whimsical addon. The original benders (moon, bison, dragon and badgers) were simply the ones who taught the MARTIAL ART form of bending, not giving bending. As you saw Wan in the previous episode learning from the dragon spirit how to properly bend fire, and you guys did recognize it as the same Dragon Dance Zuko and Aang did in the sun warrior episode in ATLA. So toph learning from the badger moles, air nomads learning from the sky bison, and waterbenders learning from the moon is like going to a martial arts class to properly learn how to fight (though its like going to THE martial arts class to learn from the best in the world lol.) The racoon looking spirit that calls wan "stinky" called wans friends "fire tossers" and the leader guy from the spirit wild missions also spoke about how wan "moves fire like its an extension of his body." This was signifying that wan had learned a different level of firebending than anyone else had. (using it combined with martial arts) Now back to the lion turtles lol. In the original ATLA the lion turtle told Aang, "In the era before the Avatar, we bent not the elements, but the energy within ourselves." This was the lion turtle giving aang spirit bending, (which he then passed onto korra in episode 12) and also we now know this was a power exclusive to these lion turtles who gave their respective bending to their citizens to go out into the wilds and then took it back when they got back to the city. We then see the lion turtle in this episode say "The world is entering a new age, our time protecting mankind is over." So the lion turtles permanently give their bending to the people of their city, and this was the beginning of the avatar taking control of balance and the beginning of the 4 nations. So now the people who had bending didnt know how to use it properly, and this is why the people who learned from the "original benders" (the moon, badgers, bison, and dragons) are so much stronger than the rest. Super long one lol but a lot of people get confused on who the "original benders" were if the lion turtles gave the power, but it indeed all makes sense. So the summary is; The lion turtles gave the power, and the original benders taught the proper use of it. You guys are super underrated btw, recently found your channel thru the ATLA reactions and had to sub to the patreon to catch these 2 episodes early! You guys understand stories very well and I cant wait for season 3 and 4.

We definitely need more Avatar content! That world is so vast, and so much more could be said and explored.
