I think the situation with Rem is not the most realistic, but also it is because she is just acting as she always did by putting herself in second place and giving her max to one thing/person, she basically lived with that belief since birth

It's great that you noticed that Wilhelm was still walking about his deceased wife when you know that if someone gets swallowed by the white whale they disappear from existence. So yeah how are they able to remember her indeed ?

Also the ground dragon that is extremely prideful accepted Subaru, remember how Betegeuse questionned whether Subaru was pride ? I don't actually know what that means but you can see that narratively Subaru was quite arrogant which led him to many mistakes, so he's quite prideful, maybe the ground dragon sensed that and accepted him because they were alike

Yeah, it could be because she is used to sacrificing herself for others, she changed her whole way of living just to atone for a single thought she had when her sister's horn broke, so I mean Suabaru saved her both physicaly and more importantly mentaly so her degree of devotion for him is actually quite realistic for her specifically

You pointed out that it would though to be in Rem's shoes like giving your all for someone who doesn't reciprocate your feelings but apart from a love interest Rem also sees Subaru as her hero, so she wants to help and save him like he did for her. It's kind of a selfless devotion but it's also because she feels grateful to him. Then I also agree that I would find it quite sad if Emilia and Subaru's relation developped while Rem is watching in the background and helping Subaru selflessly. Very difficult to swallow, so I kinda want Rem to be a bit selfish even if it would screw Subaru since she's his only light in the darkness for now. But I know that she likes him too much to deny him his only trusted support. Proof is that in the other iterations she never abandoned him (thankfuly for Subaru imagine him living the 5 last episodes alone without Rem), it doesn't seem likely that she will ever abandon him.
