QOTW & next Friday’s character! 🩷 (Patreon)

Hello Ali cats, I hope your week is starting off well :) This Friday’s roleplay is (what I think) one of my most wholesome stories so far. I wanted to try and do something cute and different so I’m curious to know what you all think. I believe this will be my first character that innocently wanted listener’s attention, and not in a yandere way 😂

Since I recently did an audio of an original character of mine (Lapis) I think it’s only fair that I do one of her sister now! Her name is Padparadscha and opposite of her sister she is a dog girl 🐶 🩷 Below I’ve included old art I did of her. I’m excited to give her a revamp as she definitely deserves one. I was still trying to figure out my art style back then lol.

Lastly, I’m currently working on a Christmas present for you all. I’m hoping to have it done in a few days and I’m really excited to finish it! 🎁

Now onto Question of the Week: what’s a visual trait that you enjoy in art styles? I really enjoy bold linework and dark shading. The first style that came to mine is Sui Ishida (Tokyo Ghoul Manga!)

My week is starting well ^_^ hope yours is too!! And ooh! I was wondering if she was gonna make an appearance! Can't mentioned a named character several times and not have them in an audio! Especially one with such a unique name! And the old art is cute!! Was she Lapis's sister from the beginning of two entirely separate characters? And can't wait to see what you're working on! ^_^ As for the question... honestly.. I'm not sure, don't think I can pick out a favorite style...

This week's started off well. Monday I celebrated my friends birthday and we had a good time. I also finally set up my Christmas tree which is coated with the new theme this year, Blue and Gold. Why do I sense that there's gonna be another description for the next week's audio saying, "The ghost cats will invade your house a second time (or for the first time :P) if you view the art first." Not to mention I'm hoping the thing I said for the Lapis audio come true, only it would be with Lapis and Padparadscha for the art piece. Visual traits in art is something I never really think about. Whenever it comes to that, everyone has their way of art style and I don't really have any specifics to what type I would like.

I love when the line art is made a little rough and sketchy, but the color and shading make it look nice and smooth. One of my friends manages to get the look by using a brush that looks like pencil for their line art.

The week is starting off well. Will be making the final submittal notice to my leasing office about my plans to stay or move out by end of January. Hope yours is going well. I at least look forward to seeing my family for Christmas next week. Lapis and Padpa are a cute duo of oc's. Seems like you can have a fun time with either of them, with probably a greater focus on how much of a cat/dog person you are. I look forward to seeing what Christmas gift you have in mind for us, as well as the next roleplay, as I'm a sucker for wholesome interactions. I like how you do linework, even in how the colors are slightly colored but still black in nature. The faces of each character are cute to look at, and I also like how you choose colors.

I wish I understood art better to be able to know what it is that pulls me to certain artists and their styles, but the only words I can put to it is to say that "there is life in their drawing"

Well my week could be better my car needs an oil change and 4 new tires so there’s that and then more denied job applications my current job is fine but never hurts to improve I can definitely see the family resemblance between the sisters completely different vibes though can’t wait to see her get an updated look. As for visual draws to an art style well I’m here so clearly I like your art style and I guess just your attention to detail and how just you draw eyes makes them feel alive I guess idk if that’s the right way to put it but you can see the passion put into them and also honestly I’m a sucker for cute things and I’ve never seen an art style anywhere near as cute as yours!

Thats a super hard question! I always love when an artist has a really distinct style, or is communicating a really specific vibe. Studio Trigger, Horihiko Araki, Junji Ito, and Kenkou Cross come to mind. When you can see a piece of art and immediately recognize it as a specific style, or get an excact sense of the vibe they were going for I just love that. (Hell it’s a big reason why I love your art, you can see it and immediately know that it’s Alichu) Really stellar lighting and technical skill always catches my eye too, if you’ve never seen Quasarcake’s art on Twitter like holy FUCK their lighting work is just mind blowing I can’t imagine the work it took to get there. They also have a super distinct style so that goes with my first point too

This week be my last week of working everyday so it be a good week! I’m so excited to be almost done and get myself a nice day off FINALLY LOL (ima sleep all day probably 🤣) Ooooooo that’s exciting to see padpa show up so soon! Wonder how her revamp is going to turnout! An Ali catmas gift? Can’t wait to see what you’re cooking up!! For art tho that’s a tuff one I’m not as knowledgeable as I’d like to be but I love how you do your line work and incorporate color into your art, (like lapis as an example, I really liked the color gradient you used for the hair! Also didn’t get a chance to comment but I really liked the Ali clown drawing too!) you can really feel the personality and the vibe the characters gives off really well and I think that’s such an awesome skill to have. I guess tho I’d say I enjoy seeing people’s unique art style! Yours has def been one of my favorite btw!

My week has been fine. Pretty much counting down the days until I have some time off around Christmas. I finished all my Christmas shopping too so I can't wait to just chill out for a few days. This week I need to dust off Pokemon Scarlet since I think there's some sort of Shiny Rayquaza event, I want to catch it with a Luxury Ball... If that's my biggest concern, I guess things are good lol I knew we would get a Padpa audio! Just didn't expect it so soon. I guess Lapis was referring to her being a dog when she called her a bitch in her audio right? :P I really like how both sisters give off such different energy just by looking at their artwork. I think I like Lapis' style and colors more, but I love dogs and you really did a great job giving Padpa that bubbly dog like look. I love presents. Looking forward to it :) Lol. I feel like I'm not qualified to answer this question. I don't think of myself as an artist, but drawing is a skill I would really like to improve. When I first read that question, what came to mind were things that I like seeing in character art. So my answer for that would be eyes, I think eyes are the most expressive part of a person. But then I realized that I think you meant more visual elements that make up the art itself no? If so, then I would say color and line work (not necessarily together). I'm a sucker for things that create emotion, I like being able to see something and feel it.

Hello Alichu! Padparadscha looks adorable, her orange eyes are cute. I like art styles that are unique in the tone their overall look gives, such as bright colors or sharp linework that's more playful or striking, or even dull colors to give artwork a grim outlook on the peice.

I know you've said before that you weren't a big fan of some of your older art but, just like the drawing of Lapis, I enjoy this one. I think there's a lot of personality conveyed here. I'm usually hit or miss on larger eyes, but I think they work well for her. You can almost feel how bright her personality is just from a glance. Nevertheless, I'm hyped to see your new take on her as well. Maybe I like all the art because I always think about how I couldn't do even half as well if I tried xD Regarding the question of the week, I think lighting is the most important quality for me. It's probably the first thing I take in after the overall vibe. I mentioned in a previous YouTube comment that my favorite artist is Edward Hopper and I think his portrayal of lighting is the reason why. His paintings almost seem to put people secondary to light and architecture. That's a really interesting take to me. If we're talking specifically about manga, I tend to like sketchy and chaotic illustration styles. The sense of motion and action feels more emphasized to me.

That’s great to hear, my week is going pretty well too! Not too excited about today though. I had to call someone to check on something in my place since an appliance has been acting up. I know, I know. Typical adult stuff, but as someone who hates small talk I dread it 😂 Funny enough I made Lapis after Padparadscha! Aww, thanks Kai! It means a lot that you like my linework and character faces 😊 I struggled for a long time on if I wanted thin or thicker lines but felt the thick style ultimately spoke to me more. I do love thin ones when I sketch though! I hope that whatever decision is made for your place goes well and that 2025 is a good year for you Kai- you definitely deserve it ❤️ I also hope you have a great Christmas and have fun spending some time with your family ^_^

Sadly the earliest appointment I could get was the 27th but I’m staying home for Christmas this year so no roadtrip to worry about. Hope your appliance gets fixed I know that pain had. 6 month period last year where like everything just quit working ended up needing a new fridge went through 2 microwaves cause the old one I had been using for years finally died then the new one was defective dishwasher went out and had to do minor repairs on the dryer several times but since then everything has been running fine.

Yo, catching a shiny Rayquaza in a luxury ball is peak aesthetic ✨ I know I’m not the only one that uses pokeball designs in coordination with the Pokemon I’m catching 😂 I hope you’re able to get em’! Lmao, the bitch comment was definitely meant as a double entendre so it makes me chuckle that you picked up on that. I figured it was only right to give Padpa her own audio too. Even though I’ll always be a cat girl I can’t be showing too much favoritism of my characters :P I feel you on the eyes when it comes to art. I’ve struggled with how I draw them the most. I still sometimes switch them up a bit depending on the character since I find them to be the part that shows off a lot of personality!

At the time of drawing the old one I was still experimenting with my style. I wasn’t sure if I wanted thin or thick lines and was continuously playing with how I drew eyes 😭 lol. Hopper’s use of light really is great. Lighting and shading is something I continue to try and improve on as it can really make a piece pop. I also feel you on the chaotic sketchy styles. Something about those really grab me as they feel very alive ✨

Thank you so much! I figured that drawing would get a little more attention since it’s Fauna you know, but I wasn’t expecting it to blow up as much as it did! (well blow up by my standards at least lol) Super happy that one got as much attention as it did, considering it was a little sentimental for me as a long time fan of Fauna

It wasn’t too bad, they just ended up replacing the appliance for me! I’m just glad I was able to get it fixed before Christmas because I know most places will be closed then 💀 Probably no cosplay this time. My character Padpa is much more…”endowed” than me lol 😂
