Hello Ali cats! I hope everyone had a relaxing weekend :) I wanted to show you all a sketch wip of this month’s art piece I’m doing for patreon- Ali as a pokemon trainer! :P I really want to show you the bartender monster girl art but you’ll have to wait until later in the week for that one- audio first, art second ✨

I’m slowly getting to replies today as my weekend was a little busy. But while I do, I wanted to ask something extremely important for this week’s question!! XD

What is your favorite vegetable and why? For me it’s gotta be a Japanese sweet potato. I don’t even like normal sweet potatoes but those are so good and sweet! 🤤 🥔 ❤️

Cute sketch. I always like sweet corn for my favorite veggie. Them with melted butter and salt just tastes so good and been my favorite since I was a kid.

Two_Hoots88

Im not a big fan of normal sweet potato either so I'll have to try that! My favorite would have to be sauteed asparagus, it pairs perfectly with a nice steak

Releothunder

Pokémon trainer Ali feels very fitting. My favorite is broccoli I don’t really know why it’s just absolutely delicious to me close second would be carrots I’ll literally just grab and peel then eat a whole carrot as a snack sometimes. I’ve never tried a Japanese sweet potato but it sounds good. My weekend has been pretty good except for some fires in my area one of them was pretty close to my house luckily it wasn’t able to spread but it was a little scary seeing a huge smoke cloud driving home from work very close to my house.

Kench

Love the artwork! WIP-ness aside, the whole outfit goes together super nicely, each piece compliments the rest. Re: Vegetables, brussel sprouts clear for me, and it's not close. They get a bad rap for being bad when not properly cooked, but I'm convinced haters just ain't doing it right, like, maybe people are boiling them and undercooking them. Get a little olive oil and salt, and then your pick of either oven-baked or pan-fried. That's a chef's kiss right there. Never had Japanese sweet potatoes, do you prepare them differently than the usual ones?

BlueAsh173

Pokemon trainer Ali... What will she catch, I wonder... The best vegetable? Not a fan of vegetables, but you'd think I'm Popeye the way I'd tear the hell out of some spinach. Corn, collards, and potatoes are equally good.

Shadowkitty

Things have been insanely hectic and near overwhelmingly busy, but I'm up on my paws like always-- I definitely will be eagerly awaiting having a few drinks with our wise bartender oneechan though lol. And Trainer Ali looks exactly as I might expect~! ❤️ I've thought about that a lot over the years, but even as someone who will reach level 34 tomorrow, I've still never quite figured out what trainer dynamic I would fit into. A Pokefan? A 'Cute Trainer'? Is there a 'Battle Maniac' NPC? xD I still choose my teams like based 80% on aesthetic preference, and am often not a fan at all of the pokemon that make the meta in terms of strength... So while I do strive for combat teams, I also will never be fully competitively viable. Ohwell~ I honestly like most veggies... But for QotW; this may sound insane but I am honestly a big fan of the humble cabbage. It has a very versatile flavour and fits with so many dishes of different types and traditions. And an honourable mention for the powerhouse Onion, which I am only omitting because I use it (and garlic) copiously in pretty much everything I cook and it would smash any competition.

BloodyAzazel

Feels like a "less emo" Pokemon Trainer Ali ngl. There's always a running joke about potatoes with me and my old friend group. With Potatoes, you can survive literally anything imo. Hell, in minecraft, one of my friends made "Potato Africa," and in a later new server with other friends, we made "Potato Africa Vol. 2." Honestly, Potatoes are just a great vegetable.

Zach Gestes

I’d down some black beans rn, it’s gotta be the juice they have when they’re made the right way.

Zypher Zai

It's gotta be broccoli for me, it has so many ways to cook and goes with everything

Emeraldrop

Hello Alichu! My weekend is good, making progress on my art project with some other drawings on the side too. Trainer Ali is cute! My favorite veggie is corn on the cob, simply sweet and tasty.

Amadis Anguiano

Awwww, adorable Pokemon Trainer Ali! As for favorite vegetable, if they count I'd definitely say onions. So many different ways to serve, prepare, and cook them. They're probably my favorite ingredient to work with in general

Eeveeolite

Art definitely gonna be amazing. But for me it's green beans. A classic, healthy (I think) and really good.

Delta

Oooh, cute goth Ali trainer? Is she going to be the cute/curious character?? And hmm.. i see there's a few like minded people here, but broccoli, love it as a kid just slathered in melted cheese, and broccoli cheddar soup is still a big time favorite for me, and I also love it with a little bit of oil, some good seasoning, and either pan fried, or air fried till it's all roasty toasty. Yum!

I LOVE Collard Greens, I've eaten a entire 1 gallon pot of them before. For those who haven't had them before its a Southern thing. Boil them alongside ox tail cow neck or some other long cook meat (ham hocks will work too as well as just sliced ham) something with small bone structure is SUPER important bc it adds in myoglobin and a very good flavor. More people should eat Collard Greens, very good and good nutritionally too.

Also the ash art is super cute, I love your art style it's very reminiscent of 2010-2012 ish anime.

Moy

Wow she looks cool! What pokemon does she have? Back in the Gen4 and Gen5 days I remember custom trainer cards were pretty popular in some forums I would go to for trades and battles. The trainer card would have their friend code and their main 6. Some people would commission custom trainer sprites for their card, so this kinda reminds me of that. This is the easiest answer ever for me. I love potatoes. Such a versatile veggie too lol I love roasting red potatoes, they're probably my favorite. Yukon potatoes are also pretty awesome, usually what I look for if I'm trying to make mashed potatoes.

Kraiden

Hope you get to chill at least a bit after work if your weekend was stressful. ^^ The sketch looks really good so far! Looking forward to the full art. What would her trainer class be?~ Vegetables are really hard to narrow down - they're all great. D: But I think I'd go with bell peppers. They're one of the most versatile ones - stuffed with rice, roasted, grilled, in stir-fries… they’re just so good. :D But chili peppers are also great - definitely need some spice in my food. Zucchini noodles are also a great alternative if you want a low-carb pasta substitute. By the way, apparently there's going to be an officially licensed Serial Experiments Lain RPG called "//signal.", releasing at the end of April (in Japanese, but maybe it'll get translated later too). Thought you’d be interested!

Thanks Kai! :D Corn is really good. I like mine roasted with garlic too- delicious! ✨

I love asparagus! My favorite is when it’s cooked with lemon and a little garlic ✨ Japanese sweet potatoes are so unique. They’re sweet but not the same as normal ones- I definitely recommend trying them if you can :D

Oh no, I’m sorry to hear about the fire :( I know what that’s like and it is very scary. I’m glad you’re safe though! 🙏 I love broccoli but unfortunately it hurts my stomach pretty bad. When I do eat it I make sure it’s only a little bit mixed in with carrots too! :D

alichuart
>>168096199

I appreciate it Kench, thank you! :D I like Brussels sprouts too, they are delicious! I think the best way is baked or even tossed into a stir fry. Maybe the people who don’t like them aren’t cooking them long enough? I know they can be a little hard if that’s the case but I love them! ❤️ As for Japanese sweet potatoes, you can just bake them like a normal potato! :D Just make sure to poke some holes in them though so they don’t explode (I almost forgot this last time) lol 😅 They are so sweet and delicious that they really don’t need anything paired with them 😊

>>168097697

Her teammate is definitely a Mimikyu!! I may try to add him in somewhere :P For your vegetable choices, I love spinach too! It’s good both plain (in a salad or sandwich) or cooked down with a little garlic ✨

I’m sorry to hear things have been hectic lately Shadowkitty but I hope soon things calm down for you! Hopefully this week’s bartender can help take the edge off with a nice drink and convo! :D Ohhh, is your birthday today?! If so then happy birthday Shadowkitty!!! I was planning on doing a ramble soon so I’ll be sure to give you a verbal congrats too :D 🎂 🎁 I feel you on the pokemon team struggle. I always go for aesthetic/personal preference over strength. I know Umbreon for example is pretty bad competitively but I don’t care- I love her!! ✨ If I were to pick a type of pokemon to strictly have though, 100% I’d be a ghost trainer 👻 As for your vegetable choice- cabbage is delicious!! Like you said, it has a place in so much dishes and cultures so it’s very versatile. I think my favorite way to eat it though is with some potatoes and carrots or as kimchi ✨

alichuart
>>168100596

Less emo?! How dare you! ; o ; lol it’s all good, maybe she’ll be more emo-fied when the colors are finished :P Potatoes are a great vegetable indeed! I remember reading somewhere that if need be you could survive off potatoes alone. I can’t remember if that included butter though for the fat content, but even so that’s pretty cool! 🥔 ✨

>>168105880

I love beans of any variety but black beans are very delicious! Do you like them in any particular dish or just by themselves? :)

alichuart
>>168107877

I do love me some broccoli but unfortunately can’t eat much of it as it hurts my stomach pretty bad ; w ; Usually I’ll pair it with some carrots in a stir fry! ✨

That’s awesome Emerald, good job on making so much progress! :D As for your vegetable choice, you can never go wrong with corn- delicious! 🌽 ✨

>>168113220

Thank you Amadis! I’m really excited to finish this drawing. I may try to add in a Mimikyu but we shall see :D Onions are a delicious and very versatile vegetable! One thing I’ve noticed about me though is that certain ones really hurt my stomach. Usually I have to go for the sweet ones but honestly I love them all! ❤️

Zypher Zai
>>168107877

I recently started putting broccoli in an air fryer with some olive oil salt and pepper, it's surprisingly really good!

alichuart
>>168117544

Thank you Eeeveeolite! :D As for green beans- that’s a good choice! When they are fresh and cooked with a little garlic or lemon they are delicious ✨

alichuart
>>168119190

No roleplay for this art, just a cute pokemon trainer for you all! :D Although I can’t say there won’t be a trainer roleplay in the future because that sounds like fun ✨ I love broccoli but like I mentioned to a few others I can only eat it in very small doses otherwise my stomach absolutely kills me 💀 It is a delicious vegetable though- especially in soup or a stir fry! ✨

alichuart
>>168122984

Thank you so much Main, I really appreciate that about my art as the 2000s vibe is definitely what I’m aiming for/inspired by :D As a southern person I absolutely LOVE collard greens. Like you said though they have to be cooked with some sort of meat/fat to give them that good flavor! ✨

alichuart
>>168147147

She 100% has a Mimikyu as her main partner! I may try to add him in somewhere in the finished piece :P As for her type choices, definitely ghost with a bit or dark mixed in ✨ I remember when people made those! I saw them all the time back on old DA and other art sites- they were so cute :D I wouldn’t be surprised if I made one myself and don’t remember lol. I’m convinced that potatoes are the perfect vegetable. Like you said, they are very versatile and just overall tasty. Red potatoes are probably my favorite when making curry since they don’t tend to break up as easily! :D

>>168177787

Thank you so much Kraiden, I hope you have a nice week too and are able to relax a bit :D As for her trainer class, that’s a tough one…I want to say hex maniac but I’d definitely need to revamp her outfit for that! For now I’ll just say she’s a ghost/dark type trainer with Mimikyu as her main partner :P Maybe a punk if that’s a class? lol 😆 Ohh, I love peppers! I think you’re the first person to bring them up but they are so delicious ✨ I think my favorite are probably the small sweet peppers since you can throw them into almost anything. Sometimes I just snack on them plain haha! XD That’s really cool about the Lain game! I didn’t know about that so thank you for sharing with me :D I’m still going strong on improving my Japanese so maybe I can try and get by if there’s no translation- fingers crossed ✨

Those are both excellent choices~ Maybe it's my nordic bloodline but I agree wholeheartedly that cabbage stewed with a roast or corned beef along with carrots & potatoes always hits. Really though I've come to appreciate so many veggies. I spent many years cooking for vegan company and it opened my skillset significantly, and probably my palette too! I'm now the odd one for occasionally craving an all veggie pizza. xD Not to throw anyone under the bus here (All playstyles are valid.), but... If you aren't favouring the pokemon you really love, are you actually a good trainer? :p I can see you rolling up as a sweet little Hex Maniac. Maybe a slightly different choice of style, but the vibe is there~ I always got the impression that while a little unhinged, most of them were good girls at heart. Seems like it checks out. ~_^ If I had to try and corner myself into an existing trainer archtype, I guess law enforcement officers DO exist and I actually do like Growlithe/Arcanine a lot... Still.. Umbreon and Glaceon make a showing in basically all of my teams, and wherever possible I try my best to trade down my oldest and most beloved companion-- Hyperion, my 2nd Gen Typhlosion (or one of his offspring xD). But for instance in Sword/Shield I also ran a Goodra, Whimsicott, and Meowstic. I... I don't know if I can categorize that..? Lol. And, awh.. Thank you. It is unfortunately the case that I have successfully endured another solar cycle. Nothing for it, yeah? The horrors persist, but so do I. :3 Ali, Alicats; have a good week, make time for yourselves where you can. Sharp claws and steady paws~ 🐾

I like them with steak and chicken but seafood im not entirely sure if that’s the move, I’ll have to try that sometime.

Oooh... it would be fun :P And urgh.. why just out bodies hate us with the good food Ali?? That has to suck.. first cheese, now broccoli too??

Quinn

Broccoli for maximum gains Cool art! Love it. Hope you have a less stressful week

Thanks Quinn, I’m glad you like it so far! :D Broccoli is delicious, I just wish it didn’t hurt my stomach so much ; o ; 💀

Oh hey, that’s awesome about the vegan company! Not entirely the same but I was vegan for about two years, vegetarian for much longer and it definitely opened my pallet too (and forced me to cook which is good haha!) xD I also get cravings for an all veggie pizza!! 🍕 ✨
