I hope you enjoy this week’s ramble! I’ve been watching and reading a lot more anime/manga so I wanted to share some of my thoughts with you all 😊 I’m also tempted to buy Oblivion…so many of you are saying you’re playing and it’s making me want to! I’m really scared it will consume my life though ; w ; I never played the original but love Skyrim!

The anime I forgot the name of is called “The Shiunji Family Children” btw :P

May the 4th be with you (perfect timing, just the audio I can listen to while I'm busy with the graduation party).

Delta

I'll be listening to this during my lunch break tomorrow! But I do have to say... get Oblivion.. you won't regret it, the world is so much more fleshed out than Skyrim in the sense of the NPCs, and the random little events and story! I'm still having a ton of fun playing through everything all over again!! And in my honest opinion, it is so much better than Skyrim. Also, I started watching that anime after you recommended it :P

I’ve been trying to finish a book that I started but never finished, being Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, and I’ve had a blast reading it again! I’ve mentioned before that I don’t watch much anime, but there is one anime/manga that I want to read, which is Houseki no Kuni (Land of the Lustrous) but I don’t know where to find it :/

I got some leftover pizza for dinner I’m designing my character in oblivion and listening to this after getting off work so I’m having nice chill evening the rest of my week is super busy (I got a 12 hour shift tomorrow💀) so this tonight is definitely my chill night. I didn’t know magic had a manga that’s pretty cool I know some one who is super into it and whoever I play destiny with him he always tells me about it sounds fun. As for anime I started to be hero X it’s pretty good the way the art style changes several times through thee episodes is really cool. Cooking anime with no cooking is super lame one cooking anime I really enjoyed and made me super hungry was restaurant to another world it combined fantasy elements with real world cooking and it was pretty cool the characters are also pretty interesting and very cute aswell. I’ve seen those shorts to they are freaken hilarious. I know how you feel about the food thing i spend time and effort cooking all this food then Im not hungry and only have a few bites but atleast my family enjoys it so it never goes to waste. I’ll definitely stop by if I see your streaming at some point your character Alichu as a png tuber would be so perfect. I’d like to get a pc myself I just have an old shitty lap top that barely works but I just don’t even know where to start with building a pc and they are so expensive so I have a ton of research I’d need to do before I even considering getting one. Well thanks for another ramble to chill and listen to hope your week goes great!

Not going to lie, I'm a bit jealous of your ability to read and not get distracted by anything. I loved reading as a kid, but it's hard as fuck for me to finish things as an adult for whatever reason. I think it has something to do with the whole "purposefully doing nothing" thing. Not that reading is nothing, but it's difficult to schedule out time to just enjoy things. I still really like going to bookstores and shopping for books though. A healthy dose of wishful thinking... Dude, I'm so excited about the possible PC setup. I think you'll really enjoy all the potential that's unlocked with a good computer. As I've said before, I'm sure you'll find a lot of assistance from this community with any questions that you might have. I've built PCs for a long time now and the sheer selection and number of possibilities can still feel overwhelming. A lot of times I'll feel like I have a solid plan, build it out, and then be like "damn, why did I think that was a good idea?" I think I'm just a perfectionist, unfortunately. A WoW player worried about Oblivion monopolizing their time? Hmmm, something seems off here, lol. I think you'd really like Oblivion though. As others have mentioned, it's really just a better take on the Elder Scrolls formula. It's more accessible than Morrowind, but deeper (mechanically and lore wise) than Skyrim. I'm so glad they kept a lot of the Bethesda jank without it being too overpowering. It truly is the perfect remaster, in my opinion. Also, you can quit whenever you want because it's singleplayer. Yeah, that always works...

Relating to the anime age thing, I've always really liked Aggretsuko. Not only was it really bold for Sanrio, the poster child of cutesy mascots, to make an M-rated series starring fully grown adults, but it also has a lot of interesting storylines.

Thank you for the ramble Alichu, also I know what YT short you're talking about with the Kyle and frog! It was hilarious 🤣

Haven't heard of the MTG manga before, but that actually sounds interesting! The wrapped-up manga with a card inside gave me flashbacks to the German "Banzai!" manga-magazine (German version of Shōnen Jump, but sadly discontinued :/) — they often had extras too like Yu-Gi-Oh cards and such. Nostalgia hit me hard there. xD Regarding cooking anime: if you haven't already checked it out, Dungeon Meshi (Delicious in Dungeon) is an absolute must (I think you mentioned that you've watched it, but I'm not 100% certain, so just making sure xP)! Surprisingly entertaining~ Also the Youtube Short Duo you mentioned is great, I actually subscribed to them some days ago, because I also get their videos recommended when doomscrolling. You definitely need to give their "Tuesday and Mosquito" bit a watch. It quite literally broke them. 😂 If you do end up giving in and grabbing Oblivion, yeah… it'll definitely consume your life. But it's totally worth it. It's a great remake (and also has the typical Bethesda jank, which is a plus in my book - always cracks me up if something unexpected happens xD) Got any other games in mind once you've your gaming rig ready? And wait... did I hear tea at the end? Don't tell me you've forsaken coffee… say it ain't so! 😱☕️

Thank you for asking about how we're all doing! No huge vacations planned--I already had mine back in late March/early April and it's a bit soon for another--but I've got a friend's wedding that I'm traveling for at the end of May! He and his girlfriend have been together for a few years and the wedding was first announced almost a year ago, so I'm really excited to see it finally happen officially \^o^/ Other than, in the day to day nothing huge. Still going to work, still playing mahjong on weekends, still playing DDR (I passed a new 17 song a few days back!), and still pretending to work on that massive jigsaw puzzle I have out 😅 The big shake-up from usual is that I've been reading more and more recently. Got caught up to currently-released book of the Dungeon Crawler Carl series I mentioned a while back, but after that I kept going into the backlog of books that've been collecting dust for a while. I have an anthology of all of H.P. Lovecraft's work that I got a while back and I've just been tearing through it. It's simultaneously less scary and more eerie than I expected from reputation, like, there's still some body horror but a lot more atmospheric terror and sense of wrong-ness about that I don't think gets talked about nearly enough. Plenty of cosmic horror and stuff that'll drive you crazy, but more like, very specific cognitohazards and knowledge that fills you with existential dread, not quite as much "I looked at a tentacle and now I'm foaming at the mouth" as the rumors would have you believe. I'm absolutely in love with it 🤣 It's not exactly the same as your big manga/anime catchup, but I think it's kinda the same sort of vibe, right? Just taking time for yourself, disconnected from external stuff, soloing in on just the one thing. It's a nice way to not feel overstimulated, innit? Going at your own pace, no more and no less. ------- I never knew about that MTG manga! I think I'll try to look it up, I'm not a Magic player myself but I love the sound of a series that's a bit more grounded (despite that title sounding like high fantasy lol), like, the card game is a tool for human interaction instead of something where the fate of the world rides on a single dramatic topdeck. Also smiling at the descriptions of the other series, the Sadako one sounds like the gap moe is through the roof, and I'm actually chortling at the description of Shiunji Family Children, it sounds like a reverse bait-and-switch, like, you go in expecting to scratch the Junk Food Manga Itch, and you come away with something substantial 😂 The actual bait and switch on that not-actually-a-cooking anime sounds frustrating though, but now I know to avoid it myself if I ever see the name <.< Totally agree that it's refreshing seeing main characters who are out of high school in anime and manga. It's not even that it's always more grounded than other series, but the framing of everything as being part of the character's youth just gives all the tropes their own framing that can't really be changed, right? If a 16 year old gets hotheaded or angry or helplessly in love or tries to act cool or whatnot, it's just a totally different vibe than if an older person did the same thing, and that's even before thinking about differences in setting or tropes. It almost feels less real when a high schooler is doing it. ...Not that that makes it bad, though, the story and character interactions and pacing and all the rest still matter and end up being really important to if I like it or not, but it's just such an ingrained trope that everyone is a teen, that it feels like a deliberate and more interesting choice when someone's an actual adult. I read a bit of a manga online called Oishinbo that kinda gets at this feeling a bit, about two news reporters who end up doing a lot more cooking and gastronomy than actual reporting and in like every chapter the main male lead is like "come with me to this restaurant, I know a guy" and you just can't get that to feel like it's cool or real if he didn't have the age and experience to have this massive food network. ------------- RealRealJapan! I know those guys, their shorts show up in my feed too. The way they act on screen is comedy gold and is so iconic, I've caught myself thinking about Sugi not even as a person who's putting on an act for the camera, but like, he's actually just like that. They're too good at playing their roles, man. Good on you for keeping up with Japanese, it's not easy to keep it up but it sounds like you've got plenty of spirit. Have you noticed yourself getting any better with output or with comprehension? ------- I don't think I've ever had a case where I stopped wanting food after I've gone through the trouble of cooking it, but I have pulled snacks out of the bag and then not wanted them after getting them. I guess that's not quite the same, though 😅 -------------- Oh yo, I'd seriously be looking forward to seeing you stream! I'm imagining it with the same vibes as these rambles, or one of your non-ASMR posts like the Shiny Hunt or the FMA Merch Showcase: very cozy and fun to be around. I don't usually tune in to live streams in general but if the timing works out I would genuinely have a lot of fun just being around. I'll be rooting for you! Go get that computer setup!

I get more hungry when I cook.

I’m actually in Jersey this week, another work trip. Also starting my third term of college and moving out of my apartment for my upcoming out of country work trip happening VERY soon (which is gonna be like 6 months long) so nah I’m very far from taking breaks lol, I’m hella busy For real though there’s whole compilations of anime food porn so I can understand being upset about being catfished by the not-food food anime. As for the cooking thing I meal prep so I do all my cooking for the week on one day and I’m running a moderate calorie deficit so I’m ALWAYS hungry and ready to eat my meals lol, and yes papa meat is hilarious Also Alituber is real! Hope I’ll be able to catch some of your future streams, that sounds awesome!

Breaks are definitely coming up for a lot of people, it's the season I guess. In two weeks I get nice one until like August, so I'm pretty excited. Things have been super busy right now though, I usually listen to the rambles right away but I barely got time to do so :P I don't know if I'll be taking any trips this summer though. Taking a break from being online is not just really nice, but I feel like it's basically required from time to time. The internet can be a toxic place lol I think you're taking your break the best way possible too! Sitting down and reading a book is such a nice way to disconnect. The Magic manga sounds very interesting... I probably won't read it though lol But I do like that you brought up the thing about making friends through a shared hobby. It's probably the best way to make friends! Taking to someone right away about something you're both passionate about is awesome. No need for bullshit smalltalk for when you first meet someone, just get straight into it haha Lmao. Jeez Ali, just because it's sealed doesn't mean it's spicy! Growing up I would try to get the sealed yugioh cards for the promo cards, a lot of the time they would be ripped into because people would steal the cards. I'm not currently reading anything, but I definitely have plans to get into my TBR list. Last weekend I took some time to clean up the sun room at home so I have somewhere nice and cozy to read during the day. Finally getting back in anime, I have a lot to binge lol love older characters and when Cooking show, have you seen Delicious Dungeon? I finally ended my little break from anime and have started catching up. There's a lot to binge right now, I typically don't binge watch anime but it's nice from time to time. Haven't started Kowloon Generic Romance, but I've been very interested in it. I went down a YouTube rabbit hole a while ago about Kowloon the Walled City so the name got my attention right away. I also love an older MC, bonus points if they are actually able to communicate with the people around them properly lol That last part is probably my least favorite thing about Shonen MC's. I think the show you were talking about is called The Shiunji Family Children. It's on my list... Lol. It's on my list because I thought it would be a stupid ecchi show, but hearing that it's not is giving me second thoughts. No spice? Next! :P Speaking of cooking shows, have you seen Delicious Dungeon? I can't remember if have brought it up or not, but if you haven't seen it, you absolutely have to. You should totally get a propper PC setup! Streaming every now and then could be fun. And even if you don't stream, having a powerful computer with a capture card would be able to help you when you record something like your Switch since you wouldn't have to worry about your camera overheating.

I don’t know why I got surprised that you enjoy cooking animes a lot. Although I know that you cook. I hope you do get a better computer, I wouldn’t mind watching a live steam of you. What games would you probably play then. Also anything someone mentions computers I like to say this story. I bought a cheap laptop when I was younger, before I had a job and it was Christmas money. When I try to use it to play games with my friends, it was slow. So one of my closet friends, who also owned me a lot of cash. Bought and made me an entire PC, because he hated how slow my laptop was so much.

Thanks Minty! I’d love to stream games for you all. I think it would be a lot of fun and cool to interact in real time :D As for what games I’d play, it would more than likely be fantasy/rpg games. Things like WoW, Final Fantasy, Oblivion. I may play some scary/horror titles too since I love stuff like that :3 That’s really cool about your friend getting you a computer! That’s definitely one way to pay someone back :P

Best of luck on building a new PC for yourself; mainly be ready for GPU's to be both very expensive and hard to come by, but hopefully by the time you're ready there should be a good one for you to nab. I recommend using a site like PC part picker to lay out your build so you can be sure everything is compatible with each other. I'm actually about to assemble my own pc (both my tower and laptop are almost 10 years old, so need an upgrade). I'm mainly focused on gaming, but I think it should be capable of some streaming and content creation should I choose. A PNGtuber would be an easy way to test the waters on if being a Vtuber is something you wanna do before jumping into either a Live2D model or a 3D model, and you can easily draw that one yourself. Simplest way to do a PNGtuber is to have your mouth and eyes opened and closed and make four images of those phases. For software to rig the PNGtuber two I know of are Veadotube (one I'm currently experimenting with) and PNGtuber Plus. Sounds like some fun anime and manga you've been invested into lately. I've fallen off the anime bandwagon recently, but I do hope that things can calm down enough that I can just make a Sunday afternoon or something to just binge shows for an afternoon and have fun again with anime (I also miss reading manga physically or online T.T ).

Thanks for the info Kai, I really appreciate it! :D I may start off with a pre-built one, or one I can order and have made for me. Something about doing it myself seems a bit scary at the moment since I have no experience with that 😭 But it’s something I’d love to do, so maybe a good pre-built one can be a base for changes later ^_^ I never knew about those programs for pngtubers so thanks for recommending those as well! ✨
