Sounds like you earned that cookie to me keep it up 💪! I’m having a yogurt while listening myself. Congratulations again I saw the Twitter post first pulling such an amazing card I hope your luck doesn’t run out it’s pretty hype to see you pull all these epic cards. More ash is always a good thing to me. Now I’m curious 👀 I’ll be looking forward to this surprise. I really appreciate all the passion and time that goes into your audios and I’m certain I will enjoy it but it’s even better to know you make what you want regardless of its popularity and little things like time lining up I personally really appreciate it’s just kinda satisfying and make it all feel more cohesive to me. I haven’t started tokapis original sin yet but I plan to watch it sometime but 6 episodes is so short. I haven’t watched many sports anime’s Whitch ones would you recommend? Only one I have in my watchlist at the moment I guess would be the horse girl anime. But I got to watch a gachikuuta episode today and all I have to say is “DooDoo dual” I was dying laugh 😂 it’s won me over. Art pricing is somewhat relevant to me and how I feel about it is if you seek out an artist because you like their art you should be willing to pay what they are charging everyone art style is different no one else will produce art just like theirs and fundamentally one persons art style isn’t necessarily worth more or less then anothers but it’s the value given to their art both by the person making it the time effort and energy put into it and also the value others put into it And so say some one reaches out to an artist about a commission and the price they are given for what they want is more then they can afford that doesn’t personally id probably let them know my current budget ask if maybe a payment plan or if I could just hold off and save some money up to commission them because they value their art and if I’m seeking them out I clearly do aswell and should pay what they charging. And if it’s thee other way around where an artist reach’s out to me and offers to make me something are I don’t say I don’t want to pay what they are asking it’s not that their art isn’t worth the price it’s that it just isn’t vibing with me and I don’t put the same value in it they do so I’d just politely decline but complaining publicly is just something I would never do because now your telling everyone you don’t think this persons art that their time effort and energy is worth less then what someone else maybe is charging similar prices is worth and but what they value themselves at now looking at this from both sides though if an artist is really charging an exorbitant price and not getting commissions well maybe they need to reevaluate how much they want to make money through their art and charge something they can actually expect other to pay not because their art quality is higher or lower then some else but because if they haven’t built a platform and have consistent commissions maybe lower the price a bit assuming they are still charging a livable wage but if they do have a platform and one person doesn’t commission them some one else will they value their artistry time and effort and so do others but if no one is commissioning them if they are thee only one who values their artistry and time they can’t really expect to charge as much they might want and it’s a delicate balance and there is always exceptions but that’s generally how I feel but again bare minimum a livable wage should be charged I wouldn’t expect some one to work for 8 hours in something and be payed less then what you I myself my make in that time at my job and wanting to pay less then that is strange but the value one person put into art and another person puts into that same art can be radically different both between the artist themselves valuing their own art and the value different consumers can put into that same art that’s my opinion atleast I think I’ve given a fair assessment to both sides of this topic but it’s just my opinion I’m open to other views aswell now to explain why it’s somewhat relevant to me when I started uploading videos on yt I initially wanted to commission some art but didn’t really have the money then now I have more money and I’ve had a few artists offer to make stuff for me and I’ve turned them down more so because their style just didn’t fit my vibe and it’s just I don’t value their art the same way they do but if I ever reach out to commission some art I will be willing to pay whatever they charge and if I can’t afford it I wont complain I’ll either save up to afford it or find some one else who’s artstyle I like that is charging something more in line with what I can afford. As some one who tried their hand at art earlier in life as a teenager I remember drawings would take me hours upon hours lots of thought constantly changing things about it also a lot of pain my hands would hurt alot So i absolutely am willing to pay whatever an artist I likes art is charging because I atleast if only in part understand the labor that is involved in making art. Ok that’s enough on that I may have had some redundant points sorry about that but this really got me thinking🤔. This was a nice note to end my day off on my day started off in heartache when I attempted to make omurice and then realized I used a not nonstick pan it was so beautiful until it ripped😭 but otherwise I had a good day my doom shirt I order months ago finally came in and it’s so cool got some more of this cool drink I found it’s flavored caffeinated high protein low calorie milk and it taste great called Spylt got a compliment on my new shirt while was at the store getting those drinks and some other stuff got a car wash on the way home vacuumed it and my car is no longer covered in bird dookie. Got an interview set up for a good position next week hoping I get it gave my pugs a bath gotta keep that coat healthy and then caught up on a bit of anime. I hope you had a great day aswell and a less heartwretching breakfast Ali. Also I accidentally deleted my first comment Whitch was a little bit longer I tried to condense it with this one I think I failed sorry about my walls of text.

Always love listening to these, so chill. Drinking a Capri sun while listening lol, breakfast of champs.

Good job working out every day! Wish I did the same lol I'm honestly impressed considering all you have on your plate. Working late shifts, art, and recording. Wow. Great time management Ali, I'm honestly impressed lol I've never heard of Union Arena, but I've definitely seen the cards! I really wanted to see the card and didn't want to wait so I looked it up on TCG. Dude. Wtf is with your luck lately with these cards! I typically just buy singles since my luck with cards is typically pretty bad 😔 Hmmm. Don't rush your art projects or comics :) Take your time and make something you're proud of. Looking forward to seeing the comic when it's ready. I recently also found out that that Takopi was only going to be 6 episodes. Honestly makes me more excited to start it. I'm hoping that it means that the author knew what he wanted to do with the story and the ending. I feel like most manga/anime endings feel pretty rushed because the author didn't really have an ending in mind when they started. I always have some sort of sport anime on the watchlist. I'm curious to know which ones you've watched or which ones are your favorite. I've seen some interesting ones, but I've never seen a bowling anime lol I don't think I want to either... No disrespect to any bowlers out there :p That's an interesting twitter thread. I think VTuber models have always been pretty expensive. Are they more expensive now compared to back then? Absolutely. But I think that's a bit of a side effect of technology improving and changing VTubing as a whole. If things get better, the best options are going to be super expensive. Some VTuber models can go up to $10k, it's pretty crazy. The cost of the model itself is typically one of the things Corporations use to try to get talents to join their agencies, they either subsidize or cover the cost of it entirely in return for a better split on the contract. I might be wrong but I think the biggest companies, HoloLive and Nijisanji, have their own internal artist and riggers for VTuber models so they don't have to pay freelance artists outside the company more. I've never really watched Gawr Gura, but I never really liked the model HoloLive provided her. When she left Holo to go indie, holy shit did her model get an improvement. The rigging on it is probably the best i've ever seen. I think her new model for Someko Saba is worth every penny she paid, it's incredible. But anyway lol This might be my last Ali audio for like a week! D: I'm not a big fan of using my phone when I travel somewhere, but listening to some ASMR before bed has become such a habit that it does bum me out a little... But I guess there's internet everywhere and phone companies have gotten better about international coverage, so everything might be fine :P But just in case, bye for a week!

Congrats on the card pull! I think when you really enjoy a piece of media or look up to the artists that create it, little things like that can feel huge! I remember going to the Sonic Symphony orchestra and being so ecstatic to see some of my favorite composers in person, so I imagine getting signed cards from the original voice actors is a similar feeling. As for the twitter debate, I actually think art is seriously undervalued in most cases. Art is what I think makes life worth living, and a single well made piece of art can potentially bring enjoyment for a lifetime, so it makes sense that some art could get quite expensive, especially with v-tuber rigs. I can’t even imagine how hard those must be to make.

Congrats on the card! I haven't done card collecting since I was younger since it was so hard to get where I live, but it seems now I have adult money it's hard to get because everything is sold out instead ;( Hearing your stories about opening and collecting them is making me want to dig out my old cards though! My Birthday is the 22nd of August! I'm probably going to go out with a couple of friends, nothing too fancy. On the art price stuff, I have definitely seen people pricing their art wayyy too low, and i'm of the opinion that with all the stuff going on with prices around the world it seems a bit ridiculous to complain about previous prices being cheaper. I just worry that people like that are the people likely to move towards using ai for things like that if they aren't wanting to pay people, and I worry if that will start becoming more and more common and peoples original art will be valued less by the average person :/ I like what you said about the "price memory" stuff, I hadn't heard that term before but I like it a lot! Looking forward to the next roleplays, have a nice week!

I love FMA! Wish I knew about the cards sooner so I could get myself a box but rent is coming up 😭 can’t wait for the next package! I really like the first one I got, haven’t watched that anime yet I usually wait for the season to end so I can just sit and watch everything without having to wait for the weekly new episode lol. Besides the recent vtuber corpo events I do see a lot of talk about art prices I think it was that same post you were talking about, I’m not an artist so I don’t really have an opinion on the prices but I do actively commission artists that charge less than 100 cause I’m poor 😂 one last thing! You can just call me Nova, calling me by my full online government name feels too formal 👀

Saw you post a video of your signed card on twitter! I can't even imagine how amazing of a pull that must have felt! Supply and demand is something a lot of people don't seem to have any insight on when it comes to work on art, design, and production time. You are absolutely correct, and not harsh at all. If you don't like the price of something, look for someone else who will accept your commission that would fit your budget. If you want a specific person (or are pointing to a specific artist's prices as the example of things being "too expensive") to do work for you, the supply is that artist's time to work on art, and demand for that will increase the price. If someone is willing to pay this artist a bajillion dollars for a model, and you don't want to pay that much for a similar model, then this artist will take the job from the person who will. And if a lot of people are willing to spend a bajillion dollars for similar models, then either that artist is going to have to pick and choose which job of equal pay they're going to take because there's only so many hours in a day and can only work on one model during any moment, or they're going to have to increase their price to multiple bajillion dollars to see if that would cut down how many people still want them, this specific artist, to do work for them. This will naturally happen over time regardless. Four years ago I was a patron of an artist who had a tier for $15 that would get you a personal commission each month you were on that tier. Not even two years into that said tier had to be closed because there were too many people pledging to to tier and no realistic way to many that many drawings in a month, let alone have time to do anything else. Nowadays this artist is so popular that no tier offers any personalized content, and commissions, when they even do open up, for drawings that take the same amount of time to make as the ones that were made for me for $15 are now priced at $175. Timespans go different for different artists. A friend of mine started out doing scene commissions with up to three characters with background and props for $20, and now twenty years later is using the same form she started out with by priced at $300 for how in demand she is now. And even just looking at those prices one probably does not stop to think about that if there was such a thing as "time exchange rates" the way exchange rates between different countries' currencies that $20 from 2005 would exchange for more than $30 from 2025. Even just the four year difference from my first example would have those $15 value to almost $20 today. So comparing things to "back then" is generally never a meaningful endeavor from someone who just wants to complain

Emeraldrop

Thank you for the ramble Alichu! I kinda agree with you on the pricing thing, they can just go to another artist. One could also see it as an opportunity to be competitive in the market by having lower prices if managed properly

Again, congrats on the card pull Ali! It looks friggin awesome!!! Btw, what's your favorite FMA character?? Also, congrats on the working out! Keep at it Ali!! ^_^ Also, definitely looking forward to the catnip package! They're coming with the bells for the new people, right? Lol And hmm... that audio, is it the one we talking about recently, or is it another one? :P I still haven't watched Takopi's Original Sin, but I haven't really been watching much anime either, it is on my list though! And if completely agree with you about the pricing, yea, back in the day,(just a few years ago) I could go to multiple stores during my grocery run like Costco, REI, Harris Teeter, and only spend 150 bucks, now a Costco trip on it's own costs me $200, things get more expensive, and rent/mortgage, food, and gas need money. Not to mention, seeing the kind of work that gets put into vtuber art and what not, it's completely understandable that it can get really up there in price! But there are still plenty of cheaper options.

Kraiden

I think it's nice that FMA is still doing well and gets some collabs and cards. :3 And congrats on pulling the signed card! Your luck really is something else lately. xD Haven't seen Takopi's Original Sin yet, but it's on my watchlist. (But you know how it goes - it just keeps expanding and never shrinks. D: And with a strong anime season this time it's way too hard to catch up with everything.) As for the topic of art pricing - yeah, that discussion always seems to stir things up. There's unfortunately still this mindset floating around that "it's just a drawing" or "you did it in a few hours, so why should it cost that much?" What they often don't think about are the time it took to develop these skills and artstyle, increased cost of living, the mental energy it requires to create consistently, ... There are just so many factors you have to take into consideration. And now with things like Midjourney and other AI tools, some people start comparing artists to subscription services - which is a really flawed comparison. Just because you can get a half decent image from AI doesn't mean it has the same value, intention, or quality as what a real artist creates - especially when it's expressive and uniquely crafted. Honestly, if someone thinks the price is too high, the answer is simple: either look elsewhere or learn to do it themselves. It's the artist's right to set a price that reflects their effort and experience - and if others are willing to pay for that, great! I'm fully in the "if you don't like the price, move on" camp too. Art is so often undervalued.

I totally feel you on the ever growing to be watched list! I feel like it never shortens, only grows lol 😭 It seems like most people have a similar opinion when it comes to price. If you don’t like it then either move on or learn to do it yourself! I do like the points you brought up though. The whole, “It didn’t even take that long” argument always gave me a good chuckle. I always think of other jobs, like a doctor or mechanic for example. They can do things relatively quick sometimes too but it doesn’t mean they are any cheaper. They have education and skills in something that you as the customer are asking for, hints you pay them for that service. Now granted art can be argued as a luxury want and not a need, but it doesn’t change the fact that time and skill went into making it! Thanks for commenting your thoughts on this topic too Kraiden. I always like hearing what my Ali cats think and enjoy talking about stuff like this! :D

Guess I'll give my own two cents on the art commission price topic: I pretty much agree with you in that while it sucks when you aren't able to afford a commission from an artist it's better to simply look elsewhere than throwing a fit about how expensive a certain artist is. Given my current financial situation, it pains me that I can't commission others like I used to, but I also can respect the pricing artists put their art for. In regards to pricing work, many factors can have a hand in it: the general market value that other artists use, the cost an artist feels their art is worth, the "supply and demand" increase as more people (and especially influential people) want work from them, the cost of living where the artist is, the time an artist has to work on anyone project, the type of project and its complexity, the quality of the work, whether the work will be used commercially or personally, and so on. Effectively, there's no right or wrong way to go about it besides what you think is a good price and what will get you the business you want. An artist should never feel forced by other people to charge less or more for their work just because someone says they should. At the start it's mostly guess work and copying others, but overtime you find a range that works for you and you adjust as see fit.

I apologize for my late reply to this Kai. Sometimes I don’t get notified on Patreon right away so I’m glad I noticed this! You pretty much hit the nail on the head in my opinion. There’s a lot of different factors that go into art pricing. While it may not be within a person’s budget, that doesn’t mean the artist is “too expensive,” it just means they can’t afford it- which is ok too! Just like with other things/services in life there’s things we can and can’t buy. It’s all about doing things within our means but respecting those that live differently.
