Yassas!

(that's hello in greek!)

You voted for your favourite themed model reference pack courtesy of @StudioGrafit and the winning pack was Greek Mythology!

Thank you to everyone who submitted a vote, it was very close between several themes this month, all of which I would have been happy to draw.

But the winner was super fun to draw and the model was awesome.

The stories that came out of this pack were so effortless and working with the simple costume was an extra treat ( but also a challenge!)

As you know, having a costumed model makes it easier to think of story ideas compared to a nude model. But I take the stories I think of from this type of session and let that help create more ideas for nude models.

You can buy your own packs from Grafit Studio, check out their website and see if their themed packs inspire you.

Today's video covers:

  • finding and exaggerating contrast
  • changing the pose when it doesn't work for you
  • drawing through what you can't see

What was your favourite pose from this video?

Will you be drawing any of these poses yourself?

What do you do when a gesture goes wrong?

Ask me any questions you may have in the comments below.

Really enjoying the voice over commentary. I had an instructor that also struggled with demoing and explaining at the same time. I was curious, since you did a video on materials, could we get a quick video on maybe your setup? Like easel Vs donkey? Standing Vs sitting? Using a board or clips, ect?

Thanks for the suggestion Matt! I will put that on the list for a future video. What way do you prefer to do gestures?

Hello Gillian, I also enjoy the voice over commentary. It's nice to draw along while listening to it. But could you set the music and your voice more to a similar volume level? The music is much louder so I switched the volume up and down all the time. Thanks an best regards, Simone
